Looking at the engine picture, it's an 8V. 16V models were ECOTEC, and had a much larger cylinder head.

Any one making an offer on a car is a potential buyer, regardless of how low their offers may be. Requesting a VIN is very reasonable. A VIN removes all doubt as to the build date and other details pertaining to any vehicle.

These include:

1) Factory fitted options.
2) Country of origin.
3) Chassis type (LHD or RHD).
4) Service history (for US imports).

With all the above, there's absolutely no reason not to provide a VIN if it's requested. There are cars that have been purchased based on the implied production year, only for the buyer to discover their 2005 car is actually a 2003. Would you buy a car if the VIN was missing? If your answer's "no", that shows how important a VIN is.

With due respect, I totally disagree with ur first statement. Not all posters are potential buyers. U and I knw there r so many pple on NL who jst derive fun in making offers. If any1 is serious abt the post, he/she will simply place a call then we move frm there jst as some have done. But requesting VIN for a naija used car still aint making sense to me. And I'll buy a car without VIN if I can do a thorough physical inspection and test drive. Are u aware VIN reports can be hacked and altered frm d data base in US?

The VIN confirms the build date of the car, where it was built, and other details which may include if it was built as RHD or LHD. This applies to all cars, Nigerian used or imported. So if a potential buyer requests it, I see no issues with you, the seller, providing it.

thats very true but u can as well agree with me dat frm d exterior of d car, no doubt its an American spec and its built was frm late 2006 to date. some1 offering N1.1m aint a potential buyer. we shldnt stick around NL trying to respond to some window shoppers
