investigating the activities of the PFIPC.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has questioned President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, over his alleged role in the emergence of the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Gbajabiamila appeared at the ICPC headquarters on Monday following an invitation by the anti-corruption agency investigating the activities of the PFIPC.

His lawyer, Jiti Ogunye, confirmed the development in a statement, saying the President’s chief of staff fully cooperated with investigators and answered questions before returning to work.

“In full cooperation with the ICPC acting as directed by the President of Nigeria, I hereby confirm that my client, Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria, responded to the invitation of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and appeared at about 15:00hrs on Monday, July 20, 2026, as part of the ongoing investigation into the activities of the ‘PFIPC’ fake agency, among others,” Ogunye said.

“My client gave his testimony, responded to questions accordingly, and has returned to his duty post.”

President Tinubu had, on July 2, directed the ICPC to launch a thorough investigation into the controversial PFIPC following allegations surrounding the agency.

Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga had announced that the President instructed the anti-corruption commission to conclude its investigation and submit a comprehensive report within 30 days.

SaharaReporters last week reported that Adeniyi Adeyemi, who allegedly paraded himself as the Director-General of the non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), was arrested by the police following the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Adeyemi's arrest came shortly after Justice Mohammed Umar ordered his arrest during proceedings at the Federal High Court last Tuesday.

According to information obtained, the suspect was apprehended moments after the court issued the warrant.

Adeyemi was dressed in a blue outfit at the time of his arrest.
