His wing was the least busy during that match because Bale did not play, they made all their attacks through Alves side! The few attacks that came through his wing, he handled them properly!
That was the only good thing about his game!
Gbam! You watch that match jare.

It was Isco that played on that RW and he couldn't do shiit. I could remember vividly how Mathieu frustrated him to a point that Isco had to throw a long pass from the RW position to Ronaldo who was at the far LW. Why? Because it was obvious to them then that Alves was the weakling..

In that game, he did good defensively. The only thing about his game in that match was that he didn't add anything up front.

Nah bro..Do not put me in the same category of those who criticize Busi, that's a different case, because I have seen him pay his dues and I attack his critics like a freaking litigator.

I am not arguing about who caused what goals,I am disputing what is being said about him playing defensively well at the LB position in that classico because that is one big fat Greek lie..

Mathieu has never given a decent defensive performance in a Left-back position.

We should thank God he didn't come on as a substitute for Jordi Alba in that game, else we might be talking about a 6-1 scoreline.
Are you sure about that? He did that not too long ago. He did that last month or so...

It's no news LB is not a comfortable position for him to be in, but let's not blow things outta proportion.

Yes that classico might be a little vague in my memory, but no,I can't forget the number of times Mathieu made me puff my inhaler...since that day I vowed to not see anything good in any performance he gives.
Anything good? Wow... And then I can say affirmatively that you are no different from those cules calling for the head of Busi. I guess they had a game in their head too they made such a decision. And ever since, whatever he does doesn't just cut in for them.

Little wonder...

"However, looked out-of-sorts defensively and was susceptible to mistakes against faster players."

What lie are you talking about then,?..it's a known fact Mathieu wasn't comfortable at that position in the first classico and was making mistakes anyhow.

When peeps were even calling for his immediate sale on twitter that night...but talks died down after he scored that lone goal vs Celta Vigo.
That's the problem. We always focus more on how the glass is half empty without taking into account that the same glass is half full too.

With emphasis on the other analysis of the game, you left the one he was praised. I stand on what I said initially that he wasn't at fault at any of the goals, and we all know it's about not conceding that matters. Why not bring up the match analysis for Alves and Piqué too?

Given, he made some errors defending against fast players, buy did it prove costly at any point in the game? Nope! Is that not what matters ultimately?

It's a no-brainer that Mathieu ain't comfortable at LB, but it doesn't mean we should smite him at every opportunity albeit he doesn't deserve it some time.

The ankle sprain Alba suffered yesterday in ESP game is not bad. Didn't have tests today and will be available for game against Madrid. [md]

I doubt if you have good memories of that match. You wouldn't type this. Aswear!

He came on for Mascherano..A CB...remember the first classico he played at LB?...we lost 3-1.
But in all honesty he played well, at least defensively. I could remember vividly how the likes of Isco tried time and time again without success, but decided to use Alves' wing because it was the obvious loophole. The goals came from that same wing. Remember Piqué's handball too that gave them a PK? And the others were from the RB, that is Madrid's LW.

In as much as I don't subscribe playing Mathieu as a LB especially inna big game like the Clasico, yet e no go good make we lie for the guy head.cheesy

You have a point bro. I'm only worried about his speed and recovery against Bale if played from LB spot. He seems more comfortable playing from CB spot.
And from what I envision, he ain't gonna add much going forward.

Na Andriano you want? Alba is one of the players with no potential back up in the team. He has not been living up to expectation recently and I wonder why some dudes have not called for his outright replacement as the case of Busi lipsrsealed
True that. Alba has been shiit for the most part this season. And like you rightly pointed out, no one has pointed that out but it's easier to call Busi's bluff after a mediocre performance.

Didn't England win by 5 goals to 1 in 2001? What happened the following year at the World Cup? They got to the final while England were dumped by Brazil in the 2nd round.

Didn't Argentina beat Germany just 2 months after the World Cup? But you and I know who won when it mattered most.

Abeg make una chill jare. Euro no far again.

England fans will NEVER learn. I remember they won Germany 5-1 at Berlin in 2001, but could NOT beat Nigeria in 2002 world cup. A match where Enyeama debuted. That same Germany later went all the way to the world cup final match.

Nigeria has won more trophies than England. Be it Super Eagles, underage, and even women tournaments.
Your first sentence says it all. They will never learn.

Just for it. Any sane person calling for Busi's axe is either a hater or someone who don't understand football.
I don't even have the time debating about Busi. The most important player in Barça. As glamorous as the MSN trio are, Busi is the most important player in Barça. Take that from me!

Only a team who cares about friendlies would be bothered about friendlies. Real teams play for tournaments
Sometimes these EPL guys can be overly funny and startling at the same time with their obsession with the English team.

German won Argentina in the world cup final and fast forward some months later Argentina won them in a friendly with a very good goal margin. Abeg, wetin the friendly win give Argentina?

These guys should know there is a difference between playing in friendly games and playing in a tournament like the Euros or World Cup.

Like Barça are used to losing friendly games, but are beastly when it comes to tournaments.

English is whack!

@homesteady you have given it to him clearly, if he needs more Jose Maria B. He can go to and wail. Busquet doesn't need a replacement but a helper. I don't even like the idea of buying, I think we can do better to promote one of the youth player that will have patience to fill void, serving as backup.
Why do we have Samper?

Bro you guys should take a chill pill with this win. It was just a friendly, remember?

Man Utd won Barça during the Pre Season, are you gonna say because of that they would win Barça in a Champions League game? You know it would be total annihilation from Barça.

So, don't judge with friendlies please. Wait till the tournament starts before bragging about the English team. For all I care the English team is no better than the Super Eagles, and I'm not even and I have never been a fan of the SE.

2010.... Blame the Ref for that. Franky had a perfectly good goal disallowed. If the Ref wasn't such a re#$@d, England would have gone on to win that game.

No worries na. The tourney go soon come abi?
I was furious when the ref disallowed that goal. But to say they would have gone on to win the match would be wrong. The best it could have done them was a morale boost to help them fight the Germans better. Germany was far superior on the night, but that goal would have given them an even ground maybe. But don't say England would have gone on to win it. That would be an exaggeration.
