Most vehicles brought to Nigeria are salvaged. From Copart, copart also has clean title.

How those dealers make profit on that vehicle, I don't know. You should see the way they try to outbid each other during auction.

And some of those vehicles despite the ridiculous price at auction will still require additional $275 or $625 dollars if its a non runner or a forklift unit.

Better save yourself the headache and buy from here if you insist on the corolla but if you can look into other makes preferably not toyota, you can make significant gains importing yourself as against buying here.

A large percentage of vehicle importers are money launderers/ into fraudulent activities. When vehicles gets to Nigeria and sold, no more trail, they turn to clean money

How determine Vehicle Spec, and region of manufacture.


Often times, Place of manufacture have a large influence on specification. Most countries want manufacturer to manufacture and sell in the country to reduce importation. Of course, reasonable countries.

So American spec vehicles, will be Made in North America.


The most reliable means is through the Vin of the vehicles.

North American vehicles (American Spec), will have the first number of the VIN to range from 1-5

e.g 2T1BU40E19C181192

The first number is 2. Without decoding this vin, i already know it is American spec cos of the number 2.

So the first letter or number, will either be. 1,2,3,4 or 5


The other way is through the interior.

Americans love luxury. The interior will probably have formaicas. And luxury look.

100%, they will come with airbags.

The other way is through the brake lights.

Also, a vehicle can be made in Japan, and still be American spec. Those kind of productions are for export.




The full proof way is through the vin, as people can modify their vehicles.

So are you saying that the American specs is better of in the above 5points when compared to the Asian specs using the Corolla brand as a yard stick? Or just in terms of information, maintenance, repairs and parts.

Fuel efficiency in the context of how much fuel per mile. They consume more

Fuel efficiency in terms of torque per fuel. Maybe.


High Resale Value: Resale value is dependent on demand. There is less demands for European vehicles compared to their Asian counterpart.


So European vehicles do not have high resale values.


On reliability scores, Asian vehicles have proven more reliable than any other brand.

The biggest market for vehicle is America. More asian cars are sold, than even American brands.


If you need a vehicle you want to wake up to, and start and wont go to limp mode on you, go Asian.


Now for spec

In reality, American Spec vehicles.

A Toyota American Spec
Mercedes, American Spec
Volkswagen American Spec

Will have more luxury, taste, safety features, finish and practicality than any specification. It is a cultural thing. They want it all, big, and tasteful.



Using the Corolla

The American Spec Corolla will be more luxurious, well built, have more safety features than any other spec.

There is Corolla European Spec
South African Spec
Asian and Chinese spec.

Compare them in reality, the American spec is better, costlier, easy to repair and more durable.

Infact, are you aware, if you have a bad ECU on an american spec corrola, you dont need any special tool for programming.

If you have all key lost situation, you can do a reset from almost low end programming tools.

The Meter makes more sense in spelling, than metre and color to colour the same way the Americans have been more reasonable and practical in their specifications

So, you can have a BMW, Toyota, Geely vehicles that are made for American markets, they are called American spec, even though they are not American brands.


So, from the point of repair, accessibility to information, parts and durability. American specs are better.

Now, this is not across board.

BMW's and Mercedes built in Germany are more durable. But when it comes to repair, repair informations are not as accessible as the American spec.

Gazzuzz, good morning. Please my Lexus Es330 is having acceleration issues of recent. Sometimes it moves smoothly and fast, sometimes it lags. I will have to step fully on the gas before my car speeds a little.

My mechanic has changed fuel pump, it stopped for a few weeks then started again. He changed notch sensor, the problem still persists.

Kindly proffer a solution if any please.

Your mechanic needs to change something else. Maybe the tyre, normally factory recommended tyre for the Lexus is Micheline. And it only rolls when you drive or push the car.

He should change the tyres. Ensure you buy Micheline, new, not Belgium.
