The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mr Maikanti Baru has cut short his trip to London owing to fresh fuel scarcity in Abuja, the nation’s capital. Baru, who was billed to receive the Forbes Oil & Gas Man of the Year Award 2017 in the British Capital on Tuesday, flew back home to attend to what he described as a “matter of urgent national importance.” Some Independent Petroleum Marketers were alleged to have deliberately hoarded the products, leading to long queues at some filling stations in cities across the country. A statement from NNPC’s General Manager, Public Affairs Division, Mr Ndu Ughamadu, on Tuesday, however, said the firm’s boss assured Nigerians that there were sufficient products to cater for the needs of the citizens. Mr Baru reacted to the development before his departure from the country, where he again stressed that everything was being done to address the situation. “For the umpteenth time, I wish to call on all Nigerians to stop panic buying. We have said times without number that NNPC has sufficient products to cater for the needs of all consumers,” he said. Before leaving for London, the GMD had directed that more truckload of petroleum products be dispatched to various parts of the country to cushion the effects of excessive demand caused by panic buying. Earlier, the NNPC had announced that there was no plan whatsoever to increase the prices of petroleum products both at the ex-depot level and pump price ahead of the forthcoming yuletide. NNPC’s spokesman also gave the assurance that the ex-depot petrol price of N133.38 per litre and the pump price of N143/N145 per litre have not changed. This according to him is because the Corporation has enough stock of fuel to ensure seamless supply and distribution of products across the country. The statement read in part: “While assuring that the Corporation has the full commitment of all downstream stakeholders including petroleum marketers and industry unions to cooperate in achieving zero fuel scarcity this season and beyond, the NNPC enjoined motorists and other users of petroleum products to disregard trending rumours of an impending fuel price hike as reported in some news platforms. “The Corporation also noted that its downstream subsidiary companies namely the Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC) and NNPC Retail Limited are fully geared up to ensure that motorists enjoy uninterrupted access to petrol throughout the nation during the yuletide period and beyond.” |
The governor made the announcement on Thursday during a media briefing on the security situation in the state. He said the security situation in the state in the past few days has become of great concern to both the government and the citizenry. Governor Ikpeazu condemned the reported attacks on police stations and military posts in Aba and Umuahia, warning that the state government would no longer tolerate such incident. He also asked members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to desist from spreading what he called “false rumors” capable of throwing Abia State into disorder. Read the full text below; Dear brothers and sisters, the security situation in the state in the past few days, which led to the deployment of soldiers into our state ahead of the Operation Python dance 11, has become of great concern to both the government and the citizenry. After several interventions, I want to inform you that by tomorrow morning, there will be withdrawal of solders from the streets at Aba and Umuahia, apart from the pre-existing military checkpoints at various location in the state. With the expected exit of soldiers from the streets, we must warn that we will not tolerate agitators and protesters taking over the streets for any reason at all. I will also be meeting the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari, to discuss possible ways of relaxing the Operation Python dance 11 in the state for now. Our attention have been drawn to ugly incidences of attacks on police stations and military posts at Aba and Umuahia and we hereby warn that we will no longer tolerate that, and all other acts that are capable of causing insecurity in the state. We have also observed illegal acts of throwing petrol bombs and setting up of bonfires to obstruct free movements along some roads by suspected miscreants and wish to warn that such acts should stop forthwith. To mischief makers who want to use Abia as their base, let me announce to you that henceforth, Abia will be too hot for you to carry out your wicked acts as the government will work with security agents to ensure the protection of lives and properties in the state without fear or favour. There will be no hiding place for you. At about midnight yesterday, we received security reports that hoodlums and miscreants, some of whom were allegedly brought into the state by unscrupulous individuals, were mobilizing around Uratta road at Aba with a view to converging at Ariaria International Market to burn it down. Their aim was obviously to take advantage of the security situation in the state to cripple the economy of the state and cause widespread suffering. It was this group that originated the rumors of attacks and counter attacks around the area and also tried to create panic to force people out of their homes to enable them execute their evil intentions under the cover of orchestrated crises. Thankfully their plan was nipped in the bud by the combined team of soldiers and policemen that promptly moved to the area and later positioned around Ariaria market to protect the lives and properties of our people. We have it on good authority that the same group of hoodlums attempted to burn down the police station at Ariaria market early today and security agents are currently on the hunt for them and those outside the state who are sponsoring their evil actions. Not even one of them will escape the full weight of the law. Members and sympathizers of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) should henceforth desist from spreading false rumors capable of throwing our state into disorder. Those spreading such falsehood will be dealt with, according to the Law. My fellow Abians, it is in the interest of all our citizens and residents for full and total peace and security to return to our state immediately. No meaningful progress can be made in an atmosphere of violence and anarchy. Those at Aba are therefore advised to fully observe the current curfew in the city and ensure that they cooperate with security agents to maintain peace and order. I swore to protect lives and properties of all Abians and residents and that I must do. I therefore call on all to support our efforts at making sure that lasting peace prevails in our dear state. God bless Abia State. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria Dr Okezie Ikpeazu Governor of Abia State. |

With lightweight bodywork, an adjustable air suspension system and all-wheel-steering, the Urus was engineered to deliver high performance on a wide variety of surfaces. It’s equipped with six different driving modes designated Strada, Sport, Corsa, Sabbia, Terra and Neve, which translate to Street, Sport, Track, Sand, Land (Off-Road) and Snow. That covers pretty much everything from Siberia to the Sahara to the Saks Fifth Avenue parking lot. Those are all very likely destinations for the Urus when it begins rolling off the line early next year at a new state-of-the-art production facility in Lamborghini’s Sant’Agata Bolognese home that features the highest level of automation the automaker has ever used. When it does, it will have a price tag attached to it that reads something on the order of $200,000. Not cheap, but with some LM002s going for over $300,000 these days, maybe not a bad deal.

A top view camera to help hook up a trailer is available in case you want to do a different type of hauling, but the official tow rating for the Urus has not yet been announced. http://www.foxnews.com/auto/2017/12/04/2019-lamborghini-urus-debuts-as-worlds-fastest-suv.html

Unlike Lamborghini’s first SUV, the LM002 that was built from 1986-1993 and nicknamed the “Rambo Lambo” thanks to its military-inspired looks, the Urus shares the sleek, edgy styling of the brand’s current sports car lineup with some visual muscle added for good measure. http://www.foxnews.com/auto/2017/12/04/2019-lamborghini-urus-debuts-as-worlds-fastest-suv.html

Lamborghini has pulled the wraps off of its all-new SUV, the Urus. Named after a large extinct bull, the supersized supercar is the brand’s second shot at selling a utility vehicle and is expected to double the automaker’s sales in today’s hot market for high-riding machines to over 7,000 annually. |

And that bike can be mounted to the FT-AC by using a rack that pops out of the rear bumper to provide a platform with a built-in clamp. It’s similar to an idea recently patented by Fordthat depicted a Mustang with two rails that slide out from inside the bumper and seems like a feature that’s primed to pop up on a production car soon. The FT-AC technically isn’t one of them, but Toyota says it would be fitted with a lockable all-wheel-drive system if it were, and could also be equipped with a hybrid powertrain. http://www.foxnews.com/auto/2017/12/01/la-auto-show-toyota-ft-ac-is-action-packed-with-features.html

The front-facing ones are so bright that they can double as flashes for the infrared cameras mounted on the rear view mirrors, which can take still photos and record video. The current Toyota Tacoma comes with a GoPro mount stuck to the inside of its windshield, but the FT-AC takes the mobile video idea to the next level and is paired with a Wi-Fi system that can provide live streaming, assuming the vehicle is in range of a cellular network. The cameras can also be detached and mounted to a bike. http://www.foxnews.com/auto/2017/12/01/la-auto-show-toyota-ft-ac-is-action-packed-with-features.html

The array of LED lighting on the vehicle will help you do that. The fog lamps can be removed and used as flashlights, while marker lights in the corners of the safari-style roof rack are bright enough to provide ambient lighting around the vehicle. http://www.foxnews.com/auto/2017/12/01/la-auto-show-toyota-ft-ac-is-action-packed-with-features.html

The Toyota FT-AC (Future Truck-Adventure Concept) unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show offers a vision of what a ruggedized small SUV might look like from the brand. But while the bulky body cladding and bright green paint are head-turners, there are some clever design innovations that deserve a closer look. http://www.foxnews.com/auto/2017/12/01/la-auto-show-toyota-ft-ac-is-action-packed-with-features.html

We know that the terrorists, who have been massively degraded and put on the run, have been looking for soft targets to attack. This is the nature of terrorism all over the world,as can be seen in recent attacks in the UK,France,Egypt and others. That is why the Nigerian security agency have continued to be on the alert, every their efforts have been largely unobtrusive so as not to disrupt the day activities of the citizenry. Such efforts and routinely stepped up during religious festivals. By Lai Mohammed minister for information and culture |
