Sorry for being away for a while now was having work issues Team October congratulations to my teammates that has delivered I delivered on 4/10/18 Birth story alert I was at work seeing a patient when I felt watery down .As I stood up my water ruptured but the doctor to relieve me was yet to come so I continued seeing patients since I wasn’t having any labor pains.then after the last patient I went to the labor ward was checked and told I was 3cmdilated yet no pain My medical director came examined me said same and oxytocin was started 5iu it finished no pain My blood pressure shot up to 190/110mmhg Have been on management for PIH but this reading was scary but no protein in my urine Our OBGYN adviced on CS due to the fact that the baby is precious and we don’t know the baby can tolerate further augumentation I have suffered infertility and went through help to conceive so I consented Elective CS was done at 11:30pm on 4/10/18 And I met the most handsome boy I have ever seen. Am so in love and grateful to God Please thank God and rejoice with me I can’t believe God has made me a mother 90 Likes

zaynie:No bumping of patients Hahahahah two days ago I conducted a delivery and the woman was very uncooperative.Her legs were just flying everywhere I had to tell her to take it easy my baby is still not ready to come out.i didn’t want any abdominal trauma from her legs To stitch her was war even with anaesthesia I had to beg her before she cooperated 11 Likes |

FashionTrend:PROM causes includes Any cause of uterine infection ie chorioamnionitis implicated organisms includes group b strep and E.coli especially Any cause of uterine over distention like multiple gestation,polyhydramnios Trauma to the abdomen like assault, car accident Symptoms include leaking fluid from the vagina or gush of fluid, there could be abdominal pain, fever, foul smelling vagina discharge The main management depends on gestation or if infection sets in , in which case immediate delivery is advocated If gestation is >34 weeks delivery is encouraged to avoid infection after giving steroids to help in lung maturation If age of viability has been attained in Nigeria it is 28weeks and no fever, we try to buy time so as to allow pregnancy to be up to 32–34 weeks but if earlier and there is infection immediate delivery is recommended Diagnosis is vagina pool of fluid in sterile speculum examination, ultrasound ie oligohydramnios, vagina fluid showing ferning or nitrazine paper turning blue Main stay of treatment is bed rest , antibiotics and corticosteroid also tocolytics to stop contraction if no fever can also be given For fibroid May interfere with pregnancy and child birth depending on size and location It can increase the risk of miscarriage, preterm birth and even cause malpresentation In pregnancy it could cause pain, bleeding and if it’s located at the lower segment of the uterus it can cause obstructed labour leading to CS . It can also cause post partum haemorrhage But a lot of women with fibroid won’t have any problem and go on to have healthy pregnancy and delivery 4 Likes |

Kemdi04:Babies have meconium first Friday days of life and will later transition to yellow Was it yellow and later became dark colored Dark color stool has a lot of differentials especially if stool has changed from meconium to yellow You may need to see a paediatrician There could be GI bleeding or it may be nothing but it’s always good to be checked 1 Like |

whyworryPH:I really think you should be on cyclogest at least it won’t hurt you in any way And for cervical length measurement is not a one off measurement You need to do it at least every 2 months I was also told it was infection that caused the membrane rupture. But in medicine you can never be so sure especially with respect to prom I decided to be proactive My cervical length was 4.6 before my cerclage so in essence I really didn’t need it but I know it shortens as the pregnancy progresses so I decided to get one coupled with the fact that it was free. The OBGYN in my facility adviced me to do it and also to be on progesterone For you to make a diagnosis of prom you must have had 3 second trimester miscarriages I didn’t want to lose another baby to make that diagnosis I know it’s God that makes it possible for a woman to carry to term I just want to do my best and leavew the rest to God And you know you shouldn’t compare yourself to the next person. Your case and hers and even mine could be different I really think you should be on cyclogest it won’t hurt and it help to maintain the integrity of the cervix 4 Likes |

Hannydimples:In my place of practice if there is no other complication like gestational diabetes , Pregnancy induced hypertension or preeclampsia etc we usually induce 40weeks + 10days maximum Most usually go into labor even before the extra 10days |

Liliesbud2, sorry for the loss Caesarian myomectomy is a well planned elective procedure. With adequate provision of blood. I dont think a good obstetrician will try this procedure during a Caesarean section Myomectomy is not an emergency. Most people don’t even know the have fibroid. It’s usually an incidental finding during pregnancy when a routine scan is done early in pregnancy or if it causes red degeneration( pain in pregnancy)and a scan is done to know cause of pain Only symptomatic fibroid or submucous fibroid that can cause menorrhagia , early miscarriages or infertility can be adviced to remove 9 Likes |

Hi, Am new here. Am currently 22 weeks will be 23 weeks on Monday. Am team blue.Edd October 14 Am also a medical doctor. Hope am welcomed Congrats to all expectant mothers and those that has delivered Am a Ftm . Though I had PROM in 2015 at 17 weeks but delivered prematurely at 21 weeks So this pregnancy I had a preventive cerclage at 12 weeks and also on progesterone injection 100mg three times a week with 400mg of cyclogest at night to help prevent prom I also check my cervical length every 2 months May God keep us safe and we will carry to term 33 Likes 1 Share |
