Embassy Location: Abuja, June 3rd School : Emory University Program: Masters in International Public Health Status: Approved. (after 52 days on Administrative Processing) My interview was as follows: VO- Good morning, your passport please m- passes passport with I-20 inside. good morning V- so you are going to Emory uni m- yes V- how did you come about Emory m- I researched online for high ranking schools and Emory was one of them (she interrupts here, so I couldn't say more.) V- when last were you in the USA? m- Aug, 2016 V- where do you usually visit m- Bleep, North Carolina V- what is the longest duration you have stayed in the USA? m- 16 days V- I can see you got a visa last year but haven't used it. why? m- it was meant to be a family vacation, but unfortunately, my brother wasn't able to get his on time and so we postponed it. V- I can see you worked in xxxxx (an International NGO) M- YES, that was my last job V- I see you have a medical degree m- yes V- where did you get it m- xxxxxxxxxxx ( a country in the Caribbean) V- What would you use this degree for when you come back m- I will hopefully secure a job at the NCDC as an environmental health specialist, where I would be able to carry out researches. Just within the space of 3 month in 2018 while working at xxxxx, Nigeria experienced numerous outbreaks- Lassa fever, cerebrospinal meningitis, cholera....... and what usually happens is that there is an outbreak and the next thing we do is treatment. Not much is really done in terms of prevention. Most of these diseases are epidemics, but in Nigeria they have become endemic and with this degree, I will be able to carry out researches to determine the environmental causes of these diseases and also implement the appropriate interventions needed to prevent this. The VO cuts in here. V- ok ok, save the rest for your dissertation V- Emory is quite expensive. How would you be paying for this? m- my father would be paying for it V- what does he do m- he currently works as an independent consultant in the Bleep sector; he retired 2 years ago as the Executive director of xxxxxxx and also he is the director of a palm oil factory. V- can I have the bank documents m- passes the SOAs, Fixed deposit, treasury bill V- she looks through it, returns one of the SOA and takes the other documents V- any bank document needs to be verified and if any fraudulent activity is observed, your F1 visa would be denied and your b1/b2 visa also cancelled and you would be banned from entering into the USA. do you accept / agree to submit these documents? m- yes V- congratulations, (says some more stuff ), then because I have a b1/b2 visa, she goes on to explain how I should use each visa appropriately when entering the USA. V- passes the white slip and asks if I have any other question m- No, thank you. Thanks to everyone that have posted their approved/denied transcript in the past and all those that vet and constructively correct people's proposed transcript. I didn't make a mock transcript ahead of time (wrong choice. I didn't sleep well the night before because of this), but I read most of the transcripts posted in this forum and made sure I knew why I wanted to get a masters degree; what I would use it for in Nigeria; the average job salary with the degree in Nigeria and also why I chose the school. Adios! |
