Seeing Perpetua there is so cool.....Coach Okon your head dey there jare!!

4th world cup loading....legend Perpetua!!

I think we got our facts mixed up CFCfan was right the list released by the NFF had Perpetua's name on it.

SportsRe: Super Falcons of Nigeria Thread: 2015 Women's World Cup by dodobytes: 11:31am On May 20, 2015
the two tallest players in d team were dropped,Okon had better have plan A,B and C.

cos' at the world cup it doesn't just rain,it pours!

oops sorry she was dropped, that's very sad she's a class striker i would have preferred her to Dike.
My brother,Dike should have had her moment at the Olympics and AAG,would really miss not seeing Perpetua.

The whole team would have been better with her inclusion.

Hope Okon has not been compromised..(apologies to Orubebe)..lol

I feel for Uchechi too. She was unlucky that the team was brimming with quality forwards.
Anyway, she already appeared at the last WC, and she could get another chance at the AAG and Olympics.
I feel Okon probably isn't a huge fan of Uchechi,or he is failing to see the big picture. Desire,Dike and Umotong are very similar in d way they play.

Uchechi with her height would have offered the opposition a different kind of threat.

Guy why do u subtly throw shades at Nigerians n Nigeria?

It's a common line dat runs thru all ur posts, well lemme remind u dat the falcons is a Nigerian team made up of Nigerians.

Nairaland is a platform given to u by a Nigerian, run by Nigerians.

Ain't saying u shldnt criticise, but lemme quote Tubaba.."if u want to criticize, dey talk small-small,u nor holy pass my broda"

Coach Okon should drop his team list jare,we already know about 85% of his team so why d drama.

If he jets out with all the invited players to Canada then he is contributing to corruption in this country and has a date with Buhari... grin

If the aforementioned lineup is billed against USAWNT, Nigeria will regret coming to Canada. Ayinde is weak and small. I do not know if Ofoegbu is even invited. However Nigerian Falcons have a big disconnect at the left-back position. Ikidi should be played in any back field except center-back against a team like the USAWNT.
Bro,this thread is for brainstorming, with our available players make ur permutations/formations to stop the USAWNT on the day.I am waiting for your input, nobody claims to know it all.

Which other player in the midfield recycles the ball more than Ayinde?..i dont know what you mean by weak and small, because that girl has shown that she has got heart.Would you rather have Ikidi as a full-back?..thats a big no-no.Ikidi should be at the heart of that defence thats her natural position

If you were Okon will you tell the team to just give up without a fight?
SportsRe: Super Falcons of Nigeria Thread: 2015 Women's World Cup by dodobytes: 8:51pm On May 15, 2015
CFCfan:
The American wingers - Rapinoe and Christen Press - prefer 'hugging' the touch line than cutting inside. So our full backs would have their full that day.
Nwabuoku would have to curtail the runs of Lauren Holiday in the midfield.
When the US have possession of the ball in the Falcons half, 3 players (Superzee, Umotong/Oparanozie, and Ordega) up front to utilize a potential counter-attack.
Well spoken,i think Nwobuoku has her work cut out in that game, she would also help our full backs too when they go forward and fail to recover on time.

This sounds typically Africans as resting on their oars. The teams the Falcons played in AWC and AAG qualifier are no the teams the Falcons will meet at the world cup. In fact, most the teams willing demolish the Nigerian Falcons are not from the African continent. If I say that Nigerian team is predictable, it is not far from the truth.
My boss,i am still yet to get ur logic.I can close my eyes and tell you how team Barca,Bayern Munich and other successful teams line out week in week out.Does it make them weak?...when you have discovered a set of players who can interprete the handler's ideas on the field of play and get results, you stick with them.

Arjen Robben is a one dimensional player, and fairly predictable as he always beats you to his left side, but even at that world class defenders still find it hard to stop him.Predictability in itself isn't always a weakness.
SportsRe: Super Falcons of Nigeria Thread: 2015 Women's World Cup by dodobytes: 8:16pm On May 15, 2015
This would be my second tactic against USA,playing Uchechi or any suitable player in the hole behind the main striker, she can both add grit to the midfield and hold up play for players to move into good positions.

SportsRe: Super Falcons of Nigeria Thread: 2015 Women's World Cup by dodobytes: 8:12pm On May 15, 2015
This would be one of my tactics if i were Okon playing against the USA,we would need the extra numbers in the midfield,so we will sacrifice playing two upfront.Nwabuoku wouldn't be too adventurous, she should sit pretty in front of the back four and protect them.

Okobi and Ayinde should work at recycling the ball around the midfield while Superzee and Ordega work the flanks leaving Desire/Umotong as the lone striker.

SportsRe: Super Falcons of Nigeria Thread: 2015 Women's World Cup by dodobytes: 7:54pm On May 15, 2015
This most likely will be Okon’s default formation, I don’t see him deviating from this as it was the same tactics he used all through the AWC.

I knw she(mbachu) has retired, dats y I sed if she cum bak from retirement atleast I watched her play in d last womens FA Cup in lagos against Sunshine queens where she scored nd assisted Oshoala bak den so she cn still do a lot on d field of play.
Mercy Akide, Perpetua Nkwocha, Mbachu Nd Dede are all legends of Nigerian and Africa's female football scope
This is trivial shaa..but Mbachu and Dede havent attained legendary status bro, they have made a name in the sport but lets leave it at that.Longevity in the game doesn't automatically confer upon one such huge honor.

A legend reaches the height and blazes a trail....Akhide yes...Perpetus big yes!

If its by dat den an invitation should be extended to bring stella mbachu bak from retirement too cuz both of dem nd precious dede were d first set of ppl I recognized on d female football scene dey v all tried in givin young playas hope n motivation. Mercy Akide too is a legend
Guy,Stella Mbachu has has hung her boots, and I don't think she can compete for a place in dat team.

Did u watch Perpetua at the AWC?..did u see her goal..her passes...confidence on d ball?

Do we have any ball stopper better than Dede? I can confidently say NO,so is it a smart move to drop her cos she has been there for ages?

Mercy Akhide has a name in women soccer, but Perpetua has attained legendary status.

Sir Edwin Okon ls release d list na, haba d female national team is way more predictable compared to d male's team, we knw dat DEde, Oshoala, Oparanoize, perpetua Nkwocha etc will make d list so pls do d needful nd release, Australia, NZ, Canada and a host of other teams av released diers so "kilo n duro dey". What ar u waitin for?
I wish to see Perpetua in Canada, but its looking highly improbable..as I don't think she is in camp right now.

I pray a last min invitation is extended to her. This team has d potential to shock the world,n it will b a fitting way to bow out for Perpetua, forever sealing her place as a true legend of the game.

The requirement to sign code of conduct by players representing their country is moronic idea that bordered on culture of impunity. I had rather not play for Nigeria than sign an idiotic code of conduct. How much money are the goons in NFF paying the players to warrant this lack of trust endeavor.
Absolutely nothing wrong in insisting players n officials sign a code of conduct.

We have heard of teams holding d nation to ransom in the thick of tournaments. If dis code of conduct helps eliminate such incidents,n also protects d players, by all means I am all for it.

This will help teams focus on the football, instead of involving themselves in needless uprisings during tournaments dat serves us no good.

I guess Nigeria's Falcon team has already been assembled in the coach’s mind. No wonder Nigeria is always behind the curve of success if all their human endeavors were pre-determined by a drunken mind.
Guy,I had to read n re-read to understand ur point.Still can't grasp it quite clearly.

Firstly this team we talking about cruised to d cup at d AWC..qualified for d AAG,looking good for d Olympics and is looking like one of d best female teams we have assembled in a while.

Why shldnt d coach have his team already sorted,do u overhaul a winning team? You don't,u only tweak it for greater efficiency.

Nigeria is currently blazing in age grade competitions last time I checked, save for super eagles, our football is still respected.

To be fair, the AAG qualifiers and the botched Olympic qualifiers made it difficult for the NFF to organize friendlies within the last 2 months.

If the Malians had communicated their withdrawal a lot earlier, who knows whether the FA would have scheduled friendlies last Saturday and this weekend?

The invitation of the Falcons to the Algarve cup, held earlier this year, would have helped the coaching crew in selecting the WC squad. But I suspect Okon already knows 16-17 players that would make his WC squad. He may only be seeking to give the fringe players a chance to show their stuff.
The team already selected itself, the core of the AWC winning team remains untouched. The midfield will b "copy n paste",no surprises.

Okon doesn't have a selection headache,he should just fit in Umotong,Uchechi and d likes and drop some AWC under performers.

And lastly, let him stop wasting everybodys time..OKON,RELEASE THE DAMN TEAM LIST!!

Nigerians will never disappoint in their silly idiosyncrasy. Few days to the women World Cup tournament in Cananda yet the jackasses are still talking about preparatory match before leaving for Canada. Did these jokers consider the possibility of injuries and time it will take for such player to recover? I guess real countries are in the touch-up mode instead of the so-called stinking "Grade A international friendly matches" for Falcons. When will the goons in Nigeria learn a thing about human nature?
Bro..I understand the case you made about the girls picking up injuries, that is always a possibility in football d world over.

Truth b told I have nothing against NFA organising friendly matches if dey r truly grade A.I personally would love to have a glimpse of d complexion of the team, and the coaches can actually test players in positions, try out tactics and appraise their physical n mental conditioning.

The team must consider the age of the players too. This is a world cup so Nigeria should field the fittest players with skills. Faith Ikidi and Perpetua Nkwocha have been around for long. Although I had had both players as long as there is correct mixture of experience and youth.
you have spoken well..

You underestimate Esther Sunday a lot. Umotong is new, and believe me, Sunday is much better than her. Ordega was being benched for Sunday at the start of the AWC.
As for Ikidi, I believe she will make the team, though Ohale will most likely not be in the starting 11.
Bro i aint underestimating Esther Sunday, she is a very average player and i dont know why we should keep faith with her when we have others that can get the job done.

Umotong is new,but is she better than Esther Sunday?..will u honestly drop Umotong and field Esther Sunday?

Esther Sunday failed to deliver at AWC and Ordega perpetually banished her to the bench, lets remove sentiments Esther Sunday cant measure up to Superzee,Oparanozie,Ordega,Uchechi,Umotong and Dike.

Esther Sunday will surely make the team, and she will be in the starting line up most times. I dont know what the fuss is about Ihezuo. Apart from her energy, she's pretty average as a striker.
The front 3 will almost always be Esther or Ordega, Oparanozie and oshoala.
Goalkeeper? Dede anyday over Whyte. Faith Ikidi should also be in the starting line up. She's the best defender in Swedish league. Same as Sarah Micheal, though she hasnt played for Nigeria in a long time
watch the final of the AWC and I believe the starting 11 is close to this.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZX2GpmZ7Rt0
Esther Sunday may likely be included in d final squad. But her place on d bench is reserved. No chance in hell she will be starting ahead of d likes of Ordega n Umotong.

I personally feel in d interest of the team,Esther Sunday shld b dropped,we have better quality options.Much has been said already on this issue.

With concerns about our central defence,it is good to know dat we have Faith Ikidi to give Onome n Ohale a run for their money.

In other news ahead of d world cup I read dat a psychologist has been employed for d team.Good move by NFF,now let's get top friendly games for d girls.
