I'll be surprised if she fails to make d final cut.
I made a case for d inclusion of perpetua earlier in this thread, and I strongly advocated dat she be given a midfield role, because mama has got ball sense for days (like my brothers in d hood will say)..lol

Yeah, she's been on fire in the English Southern League. And she even scored in a practice game against the Confluence Queens.

Okon is gonna have a hard time choosing amongst her, Uchechi Sunday, Ihezuo, and Courtney Dike for the remaining 1 or 2 slots in the attack. Already, the likes of Oshoala, Ordega, Oparanozie, and Esther Sunday are sure bankers for the 23-woman squad.
Except Okon is just being sentimental,Esther Sunday shouldn't leap frog Umotong,Uchechi n Dike, because I feel all three are better than her.

I have a feeling Dike won't make d squad, her non appearance at the nations cup and the fact that she isn't making the headlines with breathtaking club performances may just work against her.

I would pick Uchechi,Ihezuo and Umotong alongside superzee,Oparanozie and Ordega.

Yea u can use the sub 20 as a yardstick, why not BBC did that with Oshoala or are we saying the award is based on her time with Liverpool Ladies?
We all know Keshi defies all logic boss so don't hit me with a low blow lol. If she was a man would you care about her attitude? I never saw her get sent off and I love her meanness it is what makes her so valuable to this team with her we can't get bullied. Also her passes going forward are a breath of fresh air, i know there is room for improvement but remember she is at most 20 years of age.
I am not a male chauvinist,if I were I won't b discussing female football.Every professional footballer, irrespective of gender should have a good attitude.

In football there are special players, n superzee falls in dat category,so it won't work dat way for every other player.

No I actually watch games not scorelines. I saw the under 20 she was no nonsense and especially in the African cup where i believe she started almost every game, and while im 'fearing' God as u say she will be starting at the world cup so what's not world class about that? If u can point out one goal scored against us in which she has been caught lacking i will gladly take back my statement.
Hi mate,i can count many players that have started worldcups and are not up to scratch,so the fact that a player makes d world cup squad and even starts does not immediately confer upon such a one a world class status. So many things can make a player start in a game, such as unavailability of better players, injuries, sentiments etc.
If your theory is to hold true, then all the boys Keshi took to the world cup are world class.

Are you actually comparing U20 tournament to the world cup? huh huh,for the fact that she acquitted herself well during that tournament is no yardstick to conclude she has already arrived.I never said she is the worst ever, but i insisted she has some issues that if left unchecked may prove costly.

Anyone that has watched Njoku play will agree that her tackling isnt the neatest, her recovery isnt the fastest and her temperament may also need to be looked into.

A stitch in time saves nine,i still feel she may prove the weakest link if serious work is not done to up her game.

Oshoala,Oparanozie and Ordega are sure bets.

Umotong is definitely making it difficult to be overlooked.

I have a feeling Dike may not make d final cut.

Umotong came off the bench to score a hatrick, and an assist for her club on the weekend... With her current form, I think it will be difficult for Okon to drop her. Three of Uchechi Sunday, Ihezuo, Sarah Michael or Courtney Dike might have to be dropped for her, because Oshoala, Oparanozie, Ordega and Esther Sunday would surely be on the plane to Canada.

Six forwards should be the maximum, anything more than that would cause some serious imbalance in the squad.
I wouldn't put my money on Esther Sunday making d team, with d calibre of players she is up against,I personally won't pick her in my team,I think it will be between Uchechi Sunday n Sarah.Dike may be dropped sef.
SportsRe: Super Falcons of Nigeria Thread: 2015 Women's World Cup by dodobytes:
Our central defence pairing isnt the best in the world too...i think Ohale is a bit average for me,and can be caught napping on a good day.

Onome..,positionally she has got it,but like i mentioned earlier against pacy strikers, she may be beaten for it.

Another thing i have noticed is that our central defenders dont look too assured when they have the ball,i rarely see them trying to play out, always too quick to release the ball to a teammate or clear to safety. That calm assured presence that a confident defender has when on the ball,i would like to see it at the world cup.

Sharp strikers know when defenders are trying to play safe, they are like sharks, when they smell blood, they will zero in on you.If you try to play safe as a defender, the opposing attacker will force you to make errors and they will punish you for it.

Njoku is a tough young girl and Falcons need her in that position. Yes sometimes her tackling is a borderline reckless. Again, this is where the coaching comes into play. In fact, I think the team is missing Helen Ukaonu on the left side of the field including the dynamite she packs on legs.
Helen was one hell of a player,i personally wished she could have held down the left back shirt for the falcons, she gave us options with dead balls, and her overlapping really did make sense.

going forward (attacking),the falcons look comfortable..pls can we brainstorm on how to tighten dat defence?

let's pick holes and try to suggest fixes,I personally am not comfortable with njoku..she has good long passes though, but her recovery is suspect, her tackles aren't too neat..n I also feel her temperament too might need attention.

I feel we should try out other full backs, pls who was d falcons no 1 right full back n why was she dropped?

She still hangs around the team as a supporter. I guess the NFF could make her an assistant coach to the team while in Canada.
assistant coach??...I don't see that happening for this tournament though.

If she isn't selected as part of d squad,I would still implore d FA to take her along as part of d team to just serve to give the team "ginger"

Yes, Nkwocha has been a great player for the Falcons however new hands need to be tried.
i am a stickler for blooding the team with fresh talent, but a nice blend of youth with experience always does d trick..having d best ever female player on the African continent sit on ur bench is a huge boost to the squad..

n she isn't done n dusted just yet..we all saw that at the nations cup..I just hope she is selected though..

Besides individual skills, the coaches should also consider the size as well as players who can trade in more than one position. Hence I have the following players as a final team and probable.

GK
Dede, Whyte, Ohieriaku
DF
Ebi, Ohale, Njoku, Chukwunonye, Ebere, Ibrahim
MF
Ayinde, Ohaduagha, Okobi, Nwabuoku, Igbinovia, Ihezuo, Ayila
FW
Ordega, Oparanozie, Oshola, Esther, Uchechi, Umotong, Dike.

Probable
Michael, Ikidi, Ukaonu, Nku, Nnodim, Okoye
nice squad, but my perpetua is. missing from ur list..I nor gree oo...lol

perpetua will deliver more than some names I c on dat list...we also need her in d team as her big sister role will help serve as a morale booster to d young girls.

No I dont think she's ready for the big stage. Already, that team is over 50% U20s. Thats going to tell when they play experienced sides. Courtney can go there as a sub and learn the game more.
well I think she gives us quality options if she is in the team.I agree she wldnt b a starter, but she makes our bench look formidable.

I also disagree dat she isn't ready for the big stage..I think she can hold her own too against quality opposition, lets not forget she plies her trade in a nation renowned for female soccer.

lol. We got so carried away and ended up having more strikers than defenders. I will think the coach will divide it thus:
3 goalies (Dede, Whyte, Alaba Jonathan?)
8 defenders (Ebi, Ohale, Nwabuoku, Njoku, Ikidi, Ofoegbu,...)
4 central midfielders (Cecilia Nku, Halimatu Ayinde, Ngozi Okobi, Osas Igbinovia)
4 wingers (Sunday Esther, Asisat Oshoala, Francesca Ordega, Uchechi Sunday)
2 strikers (Desire Oparanozie, and Perpetua Nkwocha / Sarah Michael)
2 Utility players (Adeboyejo, Sarah Michael)
Courtney Dike should be included among the strikers..I think u overlooked her,Nwabuoku our captain is a holding midfielder, not a defender,if my memory serves me right.

I think Uchechi Sunday was at the last senior world cup. Also, I think Coach Okon has got his preferences, so he seems to have zeroed his mind (just like Siasia was adamant). We sure have capable hands in almost every department this time around. The defence is perhaps the weakest link.
Perhaps the best thing about our falcons is the seemingly smooth transition from junior to slooenior. Mainly because the U20s are quite energetic and matured. Rita Chikwelu would have been a difficult player to replace, but we forgot her as soon as Halimatu Ayinde showed her stuff! Okobi too!
Which brings me to the question of foreign...trainer and psychologist. Someone needs to give these girls the warrior mentality, to go seige like. The physicality is there, the skill is there and sure the will is needed. Asisat Oshoala granted an interview in Liverpool, where she maintained that the English league is not as skillful as Nigerian league. What we lack is funds and 'cosmetics'.
I agree with ur points and I agree dat most local coaches r plagued by the "my personal glory" curse.

They fail to realise that victory at competitions is a team effort and even the best of coaches in the world all have weaknesses that they try to balance out by shoring up their technical crew with people that can improve the team all round.
Keshi also failed to accept that we needed foreign input in whatever capacity in his team.

I take consolation in the fact that Perpetua,Dede and Onome Ebi,will act as morale boosters to the other girls in the team.

We have a very good team and I think that what will be d deciding factors in determining if we progress will be the small technical details.

"Who takes a penalty?..which substitute comes on and when?..do we close shop and park the bus when we r a goal up and playing a tricky side?...changing tactics midway into a game, when the opponents r ripping us apart because plan A is failing, setting up the team to take and also defend set pieces and corner kicks..etc

I have huge hopes for this team, because in a long time,we have never looked so blessed with this much quality.
