PAWNS FOR DESSERT

After fifty seven years, 
They still call it a marriage of convenience 
Yet they gorge themselves on the proceeds of conjugality. 
Draining her life
Like vampires on steroids 
Ripping her flesh true 
To the scavenger's code
Whaling on tributes
As the poor wail for hope
They pay the drums 
As the gods of war come out to dance 
Building empires from bloodied foundations, 
The table is set
The elites have pawns for dessert. 



Leave or die
Jalamiya mafias rant, 
Lost in the blinded rage
Fuelled by pious misconceptions. 
Bloated with crumbs from the table
They too, now speak for all
Spitting anti national gibberish 
To the accolades of the puppet masters. 
We too are tired. 
Eledumare please help us, 
When will this bickering among brothers end? 
The woman mourns
Raped by her husband, 
He has taken everything, 
Now he fancies the blood of her offspring 
To nourish his charm for ageless existence 
They set the banquet, 
The elites eat pawns for dessert. 



The messiah has come, 
Whether Jew or East 
It matters not, 
For the saviour's cloak covers his sins
Promising paradise he neither built nor can afford
But they follow him, 
He has the touch, 
Yes,  its called ethnocentrism. 
He too is paid
The creek sharks grow bold. 
Gun boat diplomacy 
Now a tool for brotherly massacre, 
We fight for our rights 
But i don't see hospitals 
Or boat schools built from ransom gains
Lost Robin hoods 
Lazy in good but quick to draw blood
They set the table
The elites devour the pawns for dessert. 


They revere and rejoice 
Merry at the blood sport that
Travels the Niger
Poor ignorant fools
Never ascending the ladder of illumination 
Pursuing distractions like cats chase mice
Lift your eyes and see what you've become, 
You cry racism, 
You who curse your daughter for marrying 
From the east or west. 
You cry religious fanaticism, 
You pray for the death of your neighbors. 
You cry terrorism, 
You celebrate the youth who killed  
Another tribe.
We were strong together, 
Now we are easy game to the predators. 
War beckons
They table is set
The elites have pawns for dessert.

It pulls me from beneath
Deeper and deeper into the void of oblivion
Caked earth chokes the slash
As the voice becomes a gurgle
The red stream pours out
Earth stood,tainted by his betrayal weeps
As love lay slain
The darkness comes
Shrouding all affection, shrinking hearts in grief
The villain reigns
No longer a caring heart to shade a hurt
No tender caress to heal a slight
No gentle words to soothe the broken spirit
As love dies

When with withered hands
We grope the bell and ring for hope
Scaling walls that had imprisoned us
Searching yet for love's promise
Of a child born or unborn
Through whom we might glimpse love's gaze
The tyrant rides rough
Scythe raised urging the siege
That rules humanity
No more a voice raised in cry of hope
No more a hand stretched to lift another up
No more brothers but foes
As love dies

We stand with buckled knees
One more time, daring to hope
Like a new rain,
Love's scent floats to us on silky feathers
To the sun we raise our parched hearts
Waiting to drink from hope's fountain
Hate lies crumbled,faced with shame
The amoral corruption is shackled
As love's child is born
Again our hearts will lift
Again we would share in harmony
Again love lives...

What is love if not seen through your eyes
dark shadows fade
unbridled ugliness lies wasted at
beauty's glare
raging nights become bare
exposed by love's light through sight
What is love without the melody from your lips?
tasty rhythm flows from resounding caves
while creaky loneliness fades to
syllables that glistens the heart.
sweet melodies cascades from sensual lips
filling parched fountains tainted by love's kiss.
What is love in the absence of your touch?
fiery dragons of lust be tamed by
your bosom's caress
fueling volcanoes of passion that erupts
in consonance with your alluring grace
kiss me,but gently
for my mortal frame might crumble
as desire gush through every pore
What is love without you my fairest?
such fierce affection that roars through me
like the lion on a prowl
I live to love
I love to love you

He stumbled along,
Knees in furious protest as they scrub
Hard earth.
Fumbling through unending mazes
In search of the place.
Famished stomach rumbling
Like thunder
Bread and wine ,
A faint stroke on hunger's canvas
For a kingly banquet merely mocks
A parched soul
The wilderness lies ahead
Echoes of eons past reach out beyond deep caves


He trudged along
Gazed locked on some distant horizon
Hollow eyes that announces a vacancy for a soul
Hope looms yet ahead
Alluring yet amorphous
Down meandering valleys haunted by love's ghost
Up jagged hills in hope of the place
Like the sunset,
The spirit flails in dainty dance
Running ahead to the place
In final salute to the stars
Earth's final whisper rings as she opens up
