📢 Which budget smartphone brand do you consider the best in Nigeria, and why? Let’s discuss!
KeplersCross: When shopping for a budget smartphone, one of the most advertised camera specs you’ll often see is megapixel count. But here’s the big question: Does a higher megapixel guarantee better image quality?
To help answer that, tech content creator Benjamin Freeman compared two popular entry-level smartphones — the Redmi A5 and the TECNO POP 9 — in a real-world photo shoot.
Both phones are affordable, aimed at users who want simple, reliable cameras for everyday use. But surprisingly, more megapixels didn’t mean better results. According to Benjamin Freeman’s video review, the TECNO POP 9 produced brighter images with better overall detail, despite having a lower 13MP rear camera compared to Redmi A5’s 32MP sensor.
POP 9 Images are clearer, brighter, and more color-accurate in normal lighting. While the Redmi A5 Images suffered from a bluish tint and occasional red color cast, which made photos look unnatural. Source- https://www.tiktok.com/video/7499138662836260151?lang=en

Considering that in a world there are various people with different specialty and interest, so it is in the world of technology and mobile phones.
Let's dive into talking about certain specifications we consider when making a purchase decisions on Smartphones. What are the features that we want as an individual when buying a new phone?
Those features that make you go for a particular brand at a particular price.
Going first, I tend to be someone who has over 50 apps on a phone cause of how intense I always use my phone on various platforms at the same time. Hence I love to go for phone with larger storage so while roaming I don't run out of space or my phones get to lag and hang.
Another feature I consider when buying a phone is the toughness of the phones. Sometimes I get to be so clumsy while busy and trying to rush up thing hence my phone can fall off at anytime.
I also look out for the camera quality, can't go for phone with lesser MP of camera if it's not 50 and above.
Then the price comes next, checking my pocket with the qualities I am going for. So far Two brands have been my options so far. Choosing between any series of Tecno and realme based on my budget.
Most times I often go for the realme devices because they are more tougher and stronger. What about you?
realme officially entered the Nigerian smartphone space just a few months ago, and they're already making waves. With devices like the Note 50, C61, and now the super-rugged C75, they’re clearly aiming to compete with the big names—TECNO, Infinix, Samsung, Xiaomi, etc.
Here’s what stands out about realme so far:
Great specs for budget-friendly prices
Sleek, bold designs
Features targeted at young, digital-first Nigerians
Plans to grow after-sales support and local presence
In a market this competitive, realme’s strategy seems focused and aggressive. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out over the next few months.
What do you think?
Have you tried any realme phone? How was the experience?
Can they actually disrupt the current market?
Would you choose a realme device over TECNO or Infinix? Why or why not?
Let’s hear your take! And if you’ve used a realme device, feel free to upload photos, performance tests, or short reviews. The more feedback, the better!
I don't know about the others but when we talking low budget phones with really good performance, it has to be tecno, they r simply the best in the market right now
