Google Photos officially launched the "Me Meme" AI generator on January 23, 2026. This experimental feature allows users in the U.S. to insert their own likeness into popular meme formats using generative AI technology.
Feature Operation
The "Me Meme" tool uses Gemini AI, specifically the "Nano Banana" model. It integrates a user's face into a template by matching the lighting, perspective, and art style.
Templates: Users can choose from a preset library of formats or upload custom images.
Source Material: Clear, well-lit, front-facing photos are recommended for optimal results.
Accessibility: The tool is in the Create tab in the Google Photos app on iOS and Android.
How to Use
Open the Google Photos app on a mobile device.
Tap Create at the bottom of the screen.
Select Me Meme.
Choose a template or upload an image.
Tap Add photo and select the image for the likeness.
Tap Generate to create the meme, which can be saved, shared, or regenerated.
Availability
The feature is currently available in the United States. There is no timeline for international expansion.

Messaging service WhatsApp will no longer work on millions of smartphones from 1 February.

Android and iPhone devices which only support outdated operating systems will no longer be able to run the Facebook-owned app.

WhatsApp said the move was necessary in order to protect the security of its users.

Smartphones using Android 2.3.7 and older, and iPhone iOS 8 or older, are those affected by the update.

The operating systems that WhatsApp is dropping support for are legacy operating systems, which are no longer updated or installed on new devices.

Most users will simply be able to update their operating systems in order to continue using the messaging service
