Mechanic first...they have different experience with the car, others will only have a personal experience
I never said it shouldn't be mechanic but you go beyond that.

Most so-called mechanics don't know more than opening the bonnet and listening to the sound of the car. The majority of them don't use machine and don't even know how to get comprehensive VIN report of any car.

no one buys a Nigerian used car and does not spend
There are some buy and drive Nigerian-used cars sold by some sellers; just that they might be a bit pricey because the sellers would have spent time and money on them to keep them in such state.

That a car is CLEAN does not make it have a CLEAN title. Therefore, always run a comprehensive VIN report for any car be it a foreign-used or Nigerian used car you want to buy.

Carfax and autocheck comprehensive VIN reports along with analysis do cost up to or more than N10,000; you can call or WhatsApp me on 08050844033 to get it almost immediately.

Avoid Nigerian used cars if you don’t have the patience and knowledge on how to inspect used cars properly.
That is very true

Comprehensive VIN check from the likes of Carfax, Autocheck, and co. is still very necessary for Nigerian used cars.

I Lost ₦850,000 Because I Rushed To Buy A Car (What I Learned)

A few years ago, a friend called me.

He had just bought a used car and was excited.

The paint was shiny.

The interior was clean.

The price looked like a steal.

The seller kept saying:

"Boss, if you don't pay today, another buyer is coming."

So he rushed.

Paid.

Collected the car.

Less than 30 days later, the problems started.

The gearbox developed issues.

The suspension needed work.

There were signs the vehicle had previous damage that nobody noticed before payment.

In total, he spent over ₦850,000 fixing things he never planned for.

The painful part?

Most of these problems could have been discovered before payment.

That experience taught me something:

A clean-looking car and a clean car are not always the same thing.

Today, whenever someone wants to buy a car, I tell them:

✅ Inspect first

✅ Verify documents

✅ Check the VIN

✅ Test drive the vehicle

✅ Bring a mechanic if possible

✅ Never let a seller rush your decision

The most expensive car is not the one with the highest price.

The most expensive car is the one with hidden problems.

QUESTION

In your opinion, what is the biggest mistake people make when buying a used car in Nigeria?

1. Chasing cheap prices

2. Trusting sellers too quickly

3. Skipping inspection

4. Ignoring vehicle history

5. Paying before verification

Let's discuss.

I would love to hear real experiences from buyers and car owners.

Your story might help someone avoid an expensive mistake.
This is very true as it can be seen on https://www.autosandcartalk.com/threads/new-and-used-cars-sales-and-comprehensive-vehicle-sourcing-service-in-nigeria.897/
