Hi TPC, Can you help in the form of advice. I just found out from the agent today that I also need a TIN and the ship is due in a few days I . The stupid guy is just telling me about all this now. Are you serious is it that high 1.25 million in 9 days. Can I have you number, I need some hard facts pls.

I find myself in this bizarre Quandry and tips of advice will be appreciated, so here we go
I imported some instruments to Lagos in a standard container
I made the agent explain the process and cost and we settled on that
The container is due at the port in a few days the agent now called me sating the customs would like to see my business account (IE they are rejecting my RAR form)


Problem statement
I do have a legally registered trading name
but I do not have a business account.
The form M used to ship the goods was prepared in the name of the agent's own company
My fear is that if I cannot provide a business account in the next few days then the container may be held in demurrage
What are the demurrage charges for a 20 foot container in TINCAN

You see what I'd like to know is if you spent a lot of money studying abroad. And then progress through the rank 6yrs wrok exp, would you want to spend a year working in an unrelated dept earning coppers. Th truth is It is probably easier to become an agent of change in the school than it is in the bank. Given the bank staff may be envious or intimidated by your qualification. Sometimes you can see the complex in them, Just watch themn speak to you they try and sound like. Yeah we do this and do that too. I'm like chill ppl. U aint got nothing to prove . The truth is I probably have more exposure already than some IT staff will muster in their whole career. All I'm saying is yes I do deserve preferntial treatment cos of my exp. Plus I dont mind being paid as a corper, just no need to dumb down my brain cos I'm serving. To be honest I have worked in banking for a while so its not a big deal. My mind is 80% on the teaching cos I would have spare time to develop My IT skills even further.

I have just come back home from abroad after a long time away. Now I came to serve I was in the CAMP for 3 weeks it was fun! > now I have worked fro over 6 years on high level IT jobs.

Here's my dilemma ( finally )I was posted to a primary school to teach. But I also have the option to work in GTB or Zenith but they both want to put me in Operations. Now I'm not quite sure what the typical role is in operation in nigerian banks. My thoughts are its probably operation asa in middle office in investment banking. But a little birdie tells me it is probably in retail banking, now the question is what would I typically be doing as a youth corper. I'm torn between going to the school where I can probably get some time off or going to work on the island in a bank. Some people have suggested I get a full time job and factor NYSC into it. Now is that legal ?

They'll probably top up the NYSC salary by some pathetic amount
I'll gain some ex[perience in whatever dept.

May get more fulfilment teaching poor kids computing

Just for the record assembly is NOT slow or inefficient it just has its place and where it's best suited, I can tell you mission critical and real time systems, Assembly ( or things like VHDL ) are still the number one solution, that includes rockets, missiles and the likes. Can I also suggest that for any mission critical system written in say embeded C or C++ or ASM or whatever and based on thesame design where the instructions have been flashed on the chip will perform at approximately thesame speed ( the choice of language is usually dependent on how well it interacts with the target hardware )

We are currently working on an Online payment Solution , the Idea is to make easily accessible Chip and Pin cards ( activiateable ), We have not secured any formal arrangement with any banks just yet, We will provide, merchant with API's to accept payment, Users will be able to pick up our card register it, connect it to an account held by us/banks and use it for online payments, We have at least in theory covered the security ( fraud ) side of things. The major problem we have is how to market our solutions to the banks. to enable users deposit/move money
