ASUU, it's either now or never to prove to the academia that u are fighting a justifiable cause. You have held this vital sector of the economy to ransome for the past 5months. While Majority of the students affected by this industrial action have taken on various handicraft acquisition, the majority of them have resorted to menial jobs seeking, it is also worthy to note that prostitution and kidnapping is on the increase on daily basis as a result of the strike embarked upon by the union. It is quite unfortunate that when it seemed things were about to come to an end after a fruitful dialogue with the number 1 citizen of the country, the cold hands of death took the ex-president and prominent member of the union thereby prolonging the NEC meeting of the union and giving room for detractors to come in. After the long awaited NEC meeting of the union, the academia looked foward to a positve outcome or atleast an address from the president of the union briefing us on wether the proposal by the president of the federation has been accepted or rejected. It is therefore sad to say that up till now, the union is yet to brief the academia on their stand regarding the presidents proposal. Taking into cognizance what is happening to the so-called largest political party in Africa(PDP) am afraid that if this industrial action embarked upon by ASUU is not addessed now, the union may split and therefore create more problems, as some of the lecturers are getting tired of the action. On this note, i, on behalf of other students, i implore ASUU to soft pedal on their demand, taking into consideration the economic condition of the country to call of this strike before it gets out of hand.

Pls i have observed that since monday 18/11/2013, no part of Imo state has seen light. Pls i do like to know if it is a national issue/ problem or state because it it getting increasingly worrisome.

There was pandemonium in Owerri today as the physically challenged persons blocked all major entrance into Owerri municipality in protest if their marginalisation by the state government. According to one of them, they came out to pour out their grievance due to the governments neglect towards their welfare. He said that the only library in the state that is accessible by the blind and has been in existence since Mbakwe's regime has been marked for demolition and is to be turned into a car park by the state government and to be relocated outsketch of the main town.
