Yes most Igbos supported sit-at-home protest when Nnamdi Kanu first used it as a way of averting Nigerian state sponsored security agents eliminating Igbo youth protesters in the name of protest during Buhari's first tenure.


Sit-at-home protest is a western way of protest to reduce casualty and still register your grievances towards unfavorable government policies.


The aim of sit-at-home protest was to avert casualty resulting from the usual brutal handling of protests by Nigerian Police and security. That was what led to sit-at-home protest. So when Kanu was illegally kidnapped in Kenya and brought back to Nigeria and charged to court and a Judge ordered for his release and Buhari's government refused to release him, IPOB organized sit-at-home protest in the Southeast and people voluntarily complied.


As usual, Nigerian government in their desperate effort to quench the peaceful sit-at-home protest which was affecting economic activities in the East and also projecting IPOB as a very powerful separatist organization, decided to infiltrate the sit-at-home protest by sponsoring state actors to start enforcing the sit-at-home with violence.


When IPOB noticed it, they quickly called off the sit-at-home and said Southeasterners should go about their businesses, that there is no more sit-at-home, that was when Nigerian government then infiltrated IPOB rank and file and got Simon Ekpa to work on their side in disguise of trying to help Nnamdi Kanu secure freedom by using extreme violence in the form of gunmen randomly going about Southeast forcing people to sit-at-home against their wish and against IPOB's directives.

IPOB also came out to distance themselves from Simon Ekpa and even made attempts to reach him in Finland, he stopped attending IPOB meetings after he started working with Nigerian government under Buhari.



IPOB had to take one of their global meetings to Finland just a stone stroll from Simon Ekpa's residence but Simon Ekpa refused to attend and rather used private guards to secure his home from uninvited guests.


Next he declared himself Prime Minister of Biafra Government in Exile.

So there was never a time majority of Igbos supported or hailed Simon Ekpa, he was using money he was being paid by the government plus contributions from some uninformed Igbos to sponsor violence in the Southeast, he never enjoyed massive Igbo followership at all, just that you none Igbos enjoyed the destruction he was causing in the Southeast and refused to listen to us

You just captured the sequence of events succinctly, enemies of Igbo land used Simon Ekpa to set back South East with his state sponsored unknown gunmen attacking market women and burning their goods, something that was totally strange to Igbo land and also sending Fulani militia alongside Ekpa unknown gunmen

His behaviour was alien to Igbo ways of life even at the peak of the civil war Igbos protected One another with their lives.
6 years is too short for the damage that Ekpa caused

Simon Ekpa worked with APC to destabilize Igbo land, this is why many people in the South East are happy about his imprisonment, they were expecting Igbos to cry over Simon Ekpa but they saw the opposite and feel highly disappointed
