Crime › Re: Nigeria Police, Army, NAFDAC Have Worst Govt Spokespersons, Media Poll Shows by Draybaba93: 6:08pm On Oct 26, 2019
Kudos for the survey by ICRC, but before we start castigating these agencies we must first of all understand that they are civil servants and guided by civil service rules and can only comment only on what they have clearance from their superior.

I will speak for NAFDAC because I covered the agency from the time of Dora Akunyili to Paul Orhii, we all should understand that Dr Jimoh is the pioneer PRO of the agency while Christy joined later, and this two individual have been with the agencies when Nafdac was the toast of the country and reporters delight with numerous breaking stories and activities that fill the pages of newspapers, contents for radio and TV with press releases, press briefing stakeholders Meeting, trainings and what have you.

But as journalist and Nigeria if such suddenly stopped and the people that were there before were still the ones, I think we should look beyond the surface and search deep what might be the cause for the hoarding of Information, I want to tell you for free that I was at a Nafdac event in Ibadan when the current DG says in the full glare of the world that information management on the agency will be streamlined Inorder for her to focus on making the labs and its equipment working first before publicity , invariably what that means is that the PRO are not allowed to speak to the media on any matter as they have always done except by express order from the top, which will definitely inform their decision to avoid any mention in the media, as a civil servant you only follow orders, either directly or indirectly and the study the body language of the boss, Inorder not to get into troubles.

I think it's the DG that should be asked such questions why information flow from the agencies is at the lowest ebb.

When was the last time anyone sees a press briefing by the agency on TV or hear on radio interview of the DG, Dora Akunyili and Paul Orhii were always on our faces that's why most of us know what is happening in Nafdac, I urge the ICRC to seek for an exclusive audience with the DG and ask her why are the agencies Public relations unit in doldrums.[/quote]
