People with ancestors from all over the world live in the great nation, United States of America. Some of the Americans seek to trace their roots. For some it’s a fulfilling endeavor. Technological advancements have made it possible to achieve this endeavor successfully.

Several African American celebrities have successfully found their African roots thanks to DNA databases offer by some companies which include AncestryDNA and African Ancestry.

Chris Rock (Cameroon)
One of the most successful comedians, Chris Rock was moved with tears when he learned about one of his ancestors, who fought for the freedom of other slaves, and became a state legislator at the age of 24. Chris Rock also found that he was descended from the Udeme people of northern Cameroon.

Oprah Winfrey (Liberia, Cameroon, Zambia)
Oprah Winfrey is an immensely popular name in the world. When she took a DNA test for the PBS show African American Lives in 2005, she discovered that she was a descendent of the Kpelle people of Liberia, Bamileke people in Cameroon and a Bantu-speaking tribe in Zambia.

LeVar Burton (Nigeria)
German-born American actor, director, producer, presenter and author discovered that he is genetically linked with the Hausa people in Nigeria. LeVar Burton is best known for his role as the young Kunta Kinte in the 1977 award-winning ABC Television mini series Roots.

Don Cheadle (Cameroon)
Actor Don Cheadle shares paternal genetic ancestry with people of the of the Ewondo ethnic group of Cameroon and shares maternal genetic ancestry with the Bamileke, Masa and Tikar people of Cameroon.

Whoopi Goldberg (Guinea-Bissau)
DNA tests indicated that Whoopi Goldberg descended from the Papel and Bayote people of Guinea-Bissau. After this discovery, the tourism ministry of the country invited her to visit them; however, she did not take up the offer as she has fear of flying.

Common (Cameroon)
American hip hop recording artist and actor Common traced his roots to the Bamilike and Ewondo ethnic group in Cameroon. Bamilike people inhibit the highlands between the Mbam and the Noun rivers in Cameroon. The Ewondo people are centered in Yaounde.

Sheryl Lee Ralph (Cameroon)
Sheryl Lee Ralph discovered that her family roots extend well past the Caribbean and stretch all the way to Africa. She found that her ancestors are from the Tikar tribe in Cameroon. Tikar is a blanket term used for several ethnic groups in Cameroon.

Anthony Anderson (Cameroon)
DNA tests of comedian Anthony Anderson revealed that his ancestors hail from Bubu people of Bioko Island and from the Tikar, Hausa and Fulani people of Cameron. Bioko Island is now known as Equatorial Guinea, a nation which is located in Central Africa.

Vanessa A. Williams (Ghana, Cameroon, Togo, Senegal)
This American actress’ DNA analysis revealed that she is 23 percent from Ghana, 17 percent from the British Isles, 15 percent from Cameroon, 12 percent Finnish, 11 percent Southern European, 7 percent Togo, 6 percent Benin, 5 percent Senegal and 4 percent Portuguese. “Now, I can’t wait to go to Ghana and Cameroon and Togo and Senegal” said the actress.

Erykah Badu (Cameroon)
American singer-songwriter, record producer, activist and actress Erykah Badu, whose first album Baduizm was certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, traced her roots to the Western Region of Cameroon. The Grammy award winner discovered that her lineage originated from the Bamileke people in the grassland region of the Western Cameroon.

Isaiah Washington (Sierra Leone)
American actor Isaiah Washington had his DNA analyzed in 2005. He found that his ancestors hailed from the Mende tribe of Sierra Leone. He traveled to Sierra Leone to help its people. He founded the Gondobay Mango Foundation to help rebuild Sierra Leone; one village at a time. He is the first African-American to be granted dual citizenship in Sierra Leone based on DNA testing.

The Wire actor was born and raised in Brooklyn. His father is from down south and his mother is from Bahamas. Michael William’s friend and fellow actor Isaiah Washington encouraged him to trace his roots with the help of DNA test. His DNA analysis indicated that his ancestors are from the Mende tribe of Sierra Leone.

Actress and comedian Jessica Williams is currently correspondent on The Daily Show. Born and raised in California, Jessica Williams traced her roots to the Bamileke tribe of Cameroon.

Blair Underwood (Cameroon)
While appearing on NBC’s Who Do You Think You Are, this American television, film and stage actor and director discovered that his great, great, great, great grandfather owned one hundred acres of land in Virginia and two slaves. He further discovered that people on his father’s side are from Cameroon. Blair’s DNA matched a man in Babungo, Cameroon in the Ancestry DNA database. Along with his father Blair Underwood visited the village of Babungo in the north-west region of Cameroon.

Chris Tucker (Cameroon, Angola)
Actor and comedian Chris Tucker found that his mother’s lineage goes back to Cameroon and his father’s to northern Angola. He traveled to Angola and Cameroon after this discovery. Chris Tucker is best known for playing the role of Smokey in Friday and Detective James Carter in the Rush Hour film series. He was the highest paid actor in Hollywood in 2007, when he negotiated $25 million salary to appear in Rush Hour 3.

Bishop T. D. Jakes (Nigeria)
Bishop T. D. Jakes’ family tree leads to the south. His mother was from Alabama and father was from Mississippi. Each family had lived in its respective state since the end of the Civil War. He is a descendant of Igbo people in Nigeria. Bishop T. D. Jakes is a Bishop of The Potter’s House, a non-denominational American mega-church with over 30,000 members. His church services and evangelistic sermons are broadcast on The Potter’s Touch.

Andrew Young (Sierra Leone)
American politician, diplomat, activist and pastor from Georgia traced his lineage to the Mende people of Sierra Leone. This civil rights leader is also believed to be a distant relative of one of the leaders of the 1839 Amistad slave ship mutiny.

A 54 year old Chinese businessman Xiong Shuihua did something amazing for the community where he grew up in Xinyu, Southern China. He paid to bulldoze all the wooden huts in the area then spent millions replacing them with an estate of luxury flats for the residents.

In total, he housed 72 families to repay them for their kindness towards him while he was growing up. He's also giving villas costing about £4m pounds to another 18 families who were particularly kind to him. In addition, elderly and low paid residents will also be given three meals a day for free.

According to reports, five years ago, the place was run down with muddy roads, but now that he's making millions from the steel industry, he decided to repay the favour his neighbours showed him. Xiong Shihua said he could afford the project because he had earned more money than he knew what to do with.

Mr. Isiaka Akanbi, popularly called Alfa, has been arrested for allegedly killing a 62 year old woman, Raliatu Kareem (pictured right) after stealing her wallet and other personal effects.‎ According to a report onPunch, the Alfa ‎owns a traditional healing centre on Lawani Street, Olodi Apapa, Lagos‎ and the late woman, Raliatu was his close customer for years.

It was gathered that on Saturday, October 25, Raliatu who lived in Agbado Ijaiye, Lagos, went to visit her niece who put to bed in the Olodi Apapa area. She was said to have left her house in Ijaiye after the monthly environmental exercise was over, informing her 20-year-old son, Abdullahi, of the visit after which she reportedly headed for the Alfa’s place at about 6pm.

Two days after, Raliatu did not return home as she promised and her family became apprehensive, trailing her to Olodi Apapa.
After not finding her at her initial destination, some family members, who knew she was a friend of the cleric, decided to check the Alfa’s place.
On getting there, the Alfa allegedly denied seeing her. The family became suspicious when Alfa reportedly started packing his property, and preparing to leave the house some hours later.
They raised an alarm and headed for the Tolu Police Station to report the incident and the Alfa was arrested.
During interrogation, Alfa told the police that he did not kill the woman, but that she died in his place.
According to him,
“On the evening of October 26, it is true that she visited me. We have been very good friends too. On that day, she just collapsed and became unconscious. I quickly rushed her to a nearby hospital, but I was shocked when the nurses told me she had died. I got a NAPEP tricycle and took her corpse to the Marine Bridge that same night and abandoned it there. I did not want people to trace her corpse to me. When I got home, I buried her wallet, handset, bangle and ring behind my house. I did not kill her. I am an Alfa, I do favour charms for traders. I met Raliatu in 1986. Since then, we have been family friends. She used to come to my place for consultation and I had been to her house too.”
One of the deceased's children, Abdullahi, said,
“I have seen the man in our house a number of times. But he said she died in his house and he now took her corpse to Marina Bridge and abandoned it. We want him to produce that corpse so that we can bury her appropriately.”
After contacting all relevant agencies in the state, the family said the corpse had yet to be found.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the case and that it has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department, Yaba .

Jeremy Bieber leased a house in Kitchener, Ontario from October 2011 to September 2012. The landlord claims he left the place in shambles ... pet urine and feces stains all the over place, a toilet that busted after someone flushed a hairbrush down it and lots of other stuff.

A judge saw it the landlord's way, and according to legal docs -- obtained by TMZ -- ordered Jeremy to pay $12,852.93.

But Jeremy's sugar baby Justin will probably foot the bill, because it seems he's paid for everything else. The landlord attached a wire receipt showing Justin covered the $1,650 monthly rent.

We contacted Justin's lawyer, who had no comment.

Kate Middleton is reportedly keeping unwell and this has worried Prince William. The duchess, who made her public appearance for the first time on 21 October since her second pregnancy was announced, seems to have lost seven pounds of weight.

Many might be thinking that Middleton had returned to normal self after she appeared in public a few days ago but reports suggested that she that her condition has "worsened."
"She can be sick up to 20 or even 30 times a day," Hollywoodlife quoted a source telling Life & Style magazine.
Middleton has been suffering from hyperemesis graveridium (severe morning sickness) since conceiving her second child and this has apparently made her loose lots of weight.
Dr. Daniel Roshan has revealed that Prince George's mother should have gained more than 5 to 7 pounds by her third trimester but that doesn't seem to be the case, according to reports by the website.
Moreover, it has also been rumoured that Middleton met Singaporean president just to suffice Queen Elizabeth's wish.
"Queen has a very strong work ethic and hardly had to cancel any royal duties during her lifetime due to ill health. She will always put work first and believes Kate should be doing the same," the website quoted an insider as saying.
The royal spokesperson is yet to comment on the rumours regarding Middleton's pregnancy-related heath issue.
Meanwhile, reports are doing the rounds that Middleton may have baby boy, as most of her dress choices are either black or blue. The possibility of twins has already been denied by the royal spokesperson but the reports claim that Middleton's "early intuition" of having a baby boy are making her chose blue colour.
Middleton was seen in a black Temperley London dress at Action for Addiction charity gala and she wore a blue Jenny Packham gown at Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards event.
"There has been a lot of blue and black in her wardrobe lately, and some say that it could be an early mother's intuition poking through," accoding to a report by Inquisitr.
Middleton is due for delivery in spring next year. She is already a mother to one-year-old Prince George.

Blurred Lines rapper TI’s wife Tameka ‘Tiny’ Harris, has defended her decision to change her eye colour from brown to light grey.
The reality star, who was once a member of the 90s R&B group Xscape, travelled to Africa to get cosmetic surgery on her eyes, getting implants to change her eye colour from brown to ice grey, and she’s over the moon while many critics are up in arms.
“I looked in the mirror and I was like, they’re amazing,” she said on Good Morning America.
The procedure, which is illegal in the US, saw New York ophthalmologist James Tsai, a clinical spokesman for the American Academy of Ophthalmology, tell The Associated Press that similar but not identical procedures are carried out for patients who are suffering with specific medical issues.
But for people just wanting to go under the knife, it’s said that it could risk glaucoma, cataracts, bleeding in the eyes and corneal problems.
“We believe they are a dangerous practice and as a physician I would never recommend them,” he said.
Procedures like one that Tiny had have become popular across the Middle East, Panama and Africa in recent years.
Harris, who co-wrote TLC’s hit No Scrubs, has faced a torrent of abuse and criticism on social media since coming back with her new eye colour.
“I just wanted to do something different,” she said. “I have the right to do that. It’s my body.”
Tiny also revealed that her rapper husband wasn’t a fan of her decision to play with her eyes, but now he’s a fan.
“He loves them. He’s OK with them as long as they’re healthy and I’m not having any problems,” she said.

Subscribing to this theory, one can safely assume that even if the billionaire were to buy three Ferraris every single day, it would take Gates around 218 years to spend his entire assets.
According to another study "Working for the Few: Political capture and economic inequality", almost half of the world's wealth is now owned by just 1% of the population and it warns that if left unchecked, this massive and unfair concentration of economic resources in the hands of a few could be a real threat to inclusive political and economic systems around the world.
Oxfam says in the report: "Once accumulated, the wealth of the world's billionaires takes on a momentum of its own, growing much faster than the broader economy in many cases".
This is not just a conundrum for the rich countries alone, either. Oxfam claims that the "billionaire boom" is increasingly seen in poor countries such as India and Africa as well. "India, which had two billionaires in the 1990s, now has 65, while by March 2014 there were 16 billionaires in sub-Sharan Africa," according to the research.
Interestingly, according to Oxfam's report, endorsed by Andy Haldane, chief economist at the Bank of England, it would take Carlos Slim, the richest man in the world, approximately 220 years to spend his $80 billion fortune, at a spending rate of $1 million per day.

The couple, resident in Arao ‘A’ at Ogwang Acuma parish, Aboke Sub-county in Kole, had been involved in repeated domestic fights after which the wife put the condoms in a saucepan and fried them with oil and other ingredients and presented it to her husband in revenge, the Daily Monitor reports.
Luckily for Mr. Okello however, he only had a taste before he discovered that the sauce was “unusual”.
A member of the husband’s Okarowok tribe, Mr Okello Caka responded to the incident saying:

“The issue of serving our brother condoms as sauce has raised a lot of questions, as to why the woman could do such an abominable thing. Condoms are used for other purposes including having safe sex and not as food.”

He however reportedly added that leaders of the clan would meet with the couple to encourage them to settle their differences.

A female passenger, KathyAnn Ferguson, has been arrested for hiding cocaine in her private part.

A South Florida woman, KathyAnn Ferguson, thought she could beat eagle eyed security personnel at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Miami.
The 26-year-old Ferguson, according to authorities, was arrested shortly after her flight from Jamaica arrived at the airport and during a search on her, it was discovered that she had the drug well hidden in her private parts.
Ferguson, from Hollywood, was charged with cocaine trafficking and later released on bond.
The Broward Sheriff's Office, BSO, released a press statement to that effect.
She was stopped when a Customs and Border Patrol agent noticed something unusual about her, she was questioned, admitted to having cocaine on her body. She had inserted it in her private parts.
The BSO said Ferguson pulled out a cylindrical-shaped, plastic-wrapped package from her vagina that contained around six ounces of cocaine. Since the initial reports, Ferguson has bonded out of jail. The BSO said this is a crime that is happening on a regular basis.
People are often recruited to carry drugs on their body, whether they swallow it or insert it in another area. It’s frequent. It happens all the time and it’s a huge health risk to those people. People often die when the drugs inside their body rupture.
She faces up to seven years in prison under minimum mandatory sentencing laws.

The US-based website, Richestlifestyle.com, that listed President Goodluck Jonathan as the 6th richest president in Africa has taken down the post after the Nigerian leader threaten them with a lawsuit.
The fear of Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan seems to be the beginning of wisdom for US website, RichestLifestyle.com, after created controversy few days ago by naming Jonathan the 6th richest head of state in Africa.
The website has tucked its tail between its feet by taking off President Jonathan from the list after he sent a strong worded letter to them threatening to sue them if they do not take down the post that made many Nigerians to pour vituperations on the ruler.
The online portal, not wanting to be dragged to court, promptly complied and took down the name of the president.
The website, had, in its ranking of African president who are rich, had placed Jonathan in the 6th position with a net worth of $100 million dollars, but all hell was let loose by the presidency who reacted swiftly by denying such ranking, saying the president was so poor that he could not be worth that much.
It also threatened to take the website to court if it did not take down the post, an action they quickly complied with.
The president's spokesman, Dr. Rueben Abati, was livid with the post and released a statement thus:
The totally unwarranted inclusion of President Jonathan in the publication titled 'Africa’s Richest Presidents 2014', is another attempt to unjustifiably portray the President as a corrupt leader and incite public disaffection against him.
There has been no significant variation in the totality of his personal assets as contained in his last declaration to the Nigerian Code of Conduct Bureau in 2011 which, as can be verified, was a very, very far cry from the $100 million figure now being bandied about by Richest Lifestyle.com.
The clear and unacceptable imputation of the claim that President Jonathan is now worth about $100 million is that the President has corruptly enriched himself while in office which is certainly not the case.
We therefore demand a retraction and an unreserved apology from Richest Lifestyle.com and all those who have reproduced the offensive article.
Otherwise, they should be prepared to substantiate their libelous claims against the President in courts of law within and outside Nigeria.
The website, knowing the implication of getting sued by a federal government anywhere in the world, took down the post and released a statement to that effect.
