A 13-year-old boy won the sixth world championship in mental arithmetic in a contest in Dresden, Germany and became the world mental arithmetic champion
Granth Thakkar, a student from Vapi in India, surprised the judges with his ability to solve mathematical problems so easily without making any errors and finishing it in fractions of seconds.
The young boy has no interest in building up his career in mathematics; instead he wants to be an astronaut, reported The Times of India
"I think it would be great to fly into space," said Thakkar.
The contest commences in every two years and about 40 participants from 18 countries competed this year.
Marc Jornet Sanz from Spain won the second position and Chie Ishikawa from Japan came third. The young brains competed in the contest without any access to calculator or paper and pencil.
Thakkar has also won gold in the world's fastest number game 'Flash Anzan, in a math Olympics in Turkey's Antalya city, reported TOI.
The brainy boy's Facebook page is filled with pictures of trophies that he bagged from various competitions.
