I think it is true that many Nigerians do not have a reading culture.

I used to ship books to the library in the Orolu Kingdom, and many of my people used to look at me like I was a fool. "Wetin we want take book do?", they'd ask, "abeg, bring the money make we chop!"

I must confess that now, 20 years later, some whisper to each other as I walk our streets saying, "that's the person who made me read".

Where I live, and where there is a thriving reading culture, there are about 10 libraries and lots of bookshops within about a 2 mile radius. Can't say the same about anywhere in Nigeria to the best of my knowledge.

That said, I'm glad for the religious books, the Bible, especially, because god worship has made many need to learn to read, though I'd argue about their understanding.

Sorry, but can't fill your survey because it asks for gender and has no third option nor rather not say.

We see as our generation dey witness pandemic of Lifestyle Disease… diseases triggered by habits. Many people today unknowingly engage in behaviors that endanger their future health, drain their finances, and expose them to preventable medical crises.

We are doing research to create awareness and promote health consciousness, because if nothing changes to address root causes, in the next 5–10 years our society will be overwhelmed with avoidable problems that fundraising and prayers alone cannot solve. Prevention is now more attainable than cure (Hosea4:6).

Please this is just research, we just want to know the real situation in Nigeria so we can use the result to do proper awareness, and necessary policy intervention to salvage the situation.
