Arsenal has surmarised a week of football disappointment for me.
I doubt if this team really has the ingredient to challenge for top prizes. Last season arsenal was less than strong Arsenal, yet instead of strenghtening team Wenger and the board in their wisdom decided to sell 2 of our best players and kept the money in the bank.

That is definitely not how to win a championship,

What a game. . . so many talking points, so many potential turning points.

First of all, City deserve the victory - their counter attacking thrusts were excellent.

If Gallas had scored a free header in the first half, things could've been so different, but he didn't. A seemingly innocuous freekick floated in and Almunia makes a complete hash of it with the ball eventually going in off the back of his head. Do we practice scoring own goals with the back of the head or what?  

Ok, they got lucky - but we got better, especially once Rozzi came on and RVP's quick thinking got us level at 1-1. At this point, we could be said to be slightly into the ascendancy, but Bellamy could've made it 2-0 a few moments earlier. Some slick play between SWP and Bellamy got them the second goal, and I was FURIOUS with Diaby, who was casually strolling back when there were unmarked players in the box expecting a cross!!  

At 2-1, I started thinking we might only be able to get a draw here, but we were still playing some incisive footie. Ade's mazy run should've been enough warning but we didn't take it. He later went on to score and it was 3-1. Even at this point, I felt we could still get a draw, and then the handball incident by Barry which he got away with - now if that was given, at 3-2 I think we could've drawn or even won it. But it wasn't to be - Clichy lost possession way up in the opposition half and SWP and co went ahead to make it 4.

An incisive goal by the refreshing Rozzi and some spirited defending from City and Given stopped it becoming 4-3 but in the end a very disappointing loss.

To concede 2 goals in that fashion in the last 15 minutes is inexcusable - we MUST do better.

For all the noise about Ade, he was peripheral for most of the game - the danger men were clearly Bellamy and SWP and they did the damage in the end. Not surprisingly the MOFO went to rile up Arsenal fans and I hope the FA crack down on such actions in the future. The most despicable bit of it all was that he KICKED RVP in the face after losing the ball in a tackle - the FA MUST act on that.

Wenger has a lot of work to do - you cannot be sliced open like that time and time again from counter attacks - either we were too gung ho or very indisciplined in holding the line. For the third goal I think Bellamy could've been caught offside but Gallas was not really paying attention.

A bit of soul searching required for Arsene his 4-3-3 didn't look defensively strong enough today, and till Rozzi's arrival we struggled to create chances.

Finally, RVP is not the best person at CF - put Bendtner up top and RVP wide so he can drift in at times when he needs to. Having him as the point man is not working.
