Pls let's get d facts. However, reduction in oil price is not basically responsible for d suffering of Nigerians! Was is oil price that jacked up tuition fees of federal govt colleges by 400%? From N20000 to over N80000, shut up electricity tarrif by 45%? Increased bank lending rate in a time of reccession? Banned rice importation without any plan for proper local options? Etc. These are the actual things making Nigerians to suffer! No disrespect is intended, how old are you please. A range will do. |

Darchangel: chai chai chai, bros u disappoint me big time! from the day subsidy was removed and pump price of fuel, kero and gas increased government saves 58 naira on each litre of fuel bought. now do the maths on how many litres of fuel consumed a day not to talk of months now. I only made this assumption on fuel alone. leave jona out of this! Saving 58 naira that could have been used to subsidize a litre doesn't mean govt makes a gain of 58 naira per litre. I know that even with quality education it's difficult to understand that when it's reported govt saves certain amount by avoiding to spend on something such as subsidy, not everyone will understand that the stmnt doesn't mean that govt has such money is a safe. It actually means govt has avoided spending needless money on subsidy. Similarly, if it's reported a govt has lost N10mn due to security situation in a place for example, it doesn't necessarily mean that the govt lost the money to thieves or criminals. It could just be that the security situation has prevented investments that could have brought additional N10mn to the govt. Still need further clarifications? |

LoveMachine: You don't get it. I just said he was misquoted. But even If he was misquoted then it's his job or the job of the APC to clear up the misconception. Rochas, Ngige, Umana Umana and Lai should have been front and center to correct the issue.
He gave indications that the amnesty program would end in December 2015 but after the brouhaha he extended it. https://www.nairaland.com/2344385/niger-delta-amnesty-due-end http://dailypost.ng/2016/02/16/buhari-extends-niger-delta-amnesty-until-december-2017/
I can understand a situation/action without condoning said situation/action. The gov't has done a poor job with relations in the SE/SS. It should not have come to this but since it has they need to do something to correct the problem. More combat isn't the solution. I understand you and I agree the PR was woeful. Nevertheless, there can't be any justification for their senseless act. The amnesty was due to end in 2015 and that's exactly what the president said in his speech. In that same speech, he said the FG will invest heavily on the program but in different dimension. The amnesty signed was originally meant to end in 2015 my friend. |

LoveMachine: There have been a few faux pas by the APC gov't that have brought us here. The now misquoted and infamous 5% comment. The inaugural speech that addressed the shutdown of the amnesty program. The warrant for Tompolo's arrest and subsequent invasion of his home kingdom of Gbaramatu.
Buhari isn't a politician. He's a military man so he gives directions with the thought process that we are all on the same team. Since he thinks we are all on the same team he expects a certain level of loyalty and good faith. He has good intentions but that's not how the polity works. That's why everyone has been shouting for the need to be carried along.
I'm almost certain there is a group of politicians sponsoring the NDA. But that doesn't change the legitimacy of their beef. There are far too many coincidences to not notice but I see this new round of militancy as something that could have been avoided but greed, evil, lack of opportunity, politics of hate and fear of prison have combined to bring us to where we find ourselves. Don't find non existing excuses for the terrorists. The president never said the amnesty program was going to be stopped in his inaugural speech. The 5% statement was deliberately quoted out of context. No need justifying militancy and terrorism. |

[s] illuminated93: As the saying goes, The most effective way for a man with a shallow and narrow mind to conceal his narrow mindedness is to be seen not to act . It shouldn't come as a surprise that, people who keep to themselves and who hardly share an opinion are often times respected. I was once a supporter of buhari, but now I can see through the smokescreen. Prior to the elections, even during campaigns ,candidate buhari hardly spoke, even when he did,he was reading off a paper, and it was all about fighting corruption. I was endeared to this General because he never gave me an opportunity to assess his intellectual capacity, reason being he hardly spoke,he always kept to himself and always spoke about how the country is being looted, which in every sense is true! The 1st scenario that provided the opportunity to assess buhari was the appointment of ministers Nigerians can attest to the suspense that engulfed the nation as a result of buhari's delay in selecting his ministers. Buhari managed to draw the attention of every nigerian even the intellectuals to the drama of his delay in appointing ministers. Everyone believed change has indeed come,we all believed buhari was taking his time to select the best nigerians hiding under the sun,and as such,he should be commended for taking his time in scrutinizing various persons. On 29th September 2015,the 1st batch of ministerial appointments consisting of 21 names was submitted to the national assembly. Never in the history of this country has the activity of ministerial appointment generated such a drama. On 12 October 2015,2nd list was submitted to the senate. came the time for the list to be made public,we saw names like Rotimi Amaechi,Audu Ogbeh,Chris Ngige,Ibrahim Ismail Jubrin,Kayode Fayemi. I had to avoid other names so as not to feed into the narrative of the tribal bigots. These names are sure not the technocrats Nigerians were hoping for. The case of President Buhari is a classic example on how a narrow minded individual can manage to convince the majority and even the intellectuals that he's the most gifted or among the most gifted humans available, simply by not taking any action, that way he creates a mystery around himself just by concealing his thoughts, this automatically fills the minds of his audience with suspense. We all know the effects of suspense. But the thing is,the moment such an individual is allowed to make a decision,he's easily seen for what he truly is, a man with a shallow mind. We can see Buhari for who he truly is through the decision he makes everyday or simply put, his policy somersaults as seen in his :ministerial appointments, inconsistent foreign exchange policies, mediocre decision not to investigate the budget padding scam because his guys are involved, and a few others. If there is one thing I have come to understand about Buhari, its the fact that he wants this country to improve, but truth is,he's not the one to bring the ground breaking improvements or a positive change needed. Buhari lacks the elements and intellectual capacity to effect a long lasting positive change on this country even if he wishes to,but he has his limits. As the saying goes, you can't give what you don't have. A man lacking in wisdom can only offer the wisdom of another wise man, will buhari take to the advice of other wise men? [/s] Trashy trash. |

Love Machine: Buhari who want to reintroduced the War against indiscipline(WAI),that he was known for as a former military dictator is even the most indiscipline elder in Nigeria. There were some court ruling and human rights abuses level against him and his appointees that he has refused to obey. Here are the list below. 1.Nnamdi kanu. The court ruled that Nnamdi kanu be release like every other suspects pending determination of trial.Up till now,he has been kept behind bar over a trump up charges. Dilector Kanu was granted bail on a different charge bordering on illegally entering Nigeria and belonging to a secessionist group. He was promptly re-arrested and charged for treason to which no court has granted him bail till date. Bring your evidence Kanu was granted bail for treason offence. 2.Ibrahim El zackzacky;Though his followers attacked the coas,Buratai convoy.None of his his army was hurt, but the Shiite leader was seriously injured and detain.Several of his followers were secretly killed and buried in a mass grave by Buhari's army.Despite several call for his release by civil right group, the president has refused to release him. I do not support the continued detention of this man but this case has not even made it to court let alone talking of bail or disobeying courts. |

... the oil, financial and economic professionals who weighed in and spoke to the issues involved. For Dolapo Oni, Head of Energy Research, Ecobank Capital, the move must have been informed by the need to reduce the reliance on the Niger Delta with a view to reducing the country’s vulnerability to attacks in the region. Good as it is, the ideal model, he says, should have been a concession, emphasising that NNPC could gather data and allow companies to do their own search. But, he continued, it may not be the best of times if we are dedicating the NNPC’s scarce resources to going beyond the 2D and 3D.”
Abdullahi Bukar of Uquo Gas Field Development described the renewed efforts towards exploring for oil in the Benue Trough and Chad Basin as a very good development, hoping that ”a well-thought-out policy will be put in place because anything that will increase Nigeria’s oil and gas reserves is very welcome.”
To Johnson Chukwu, CEO, Cowry Asset Management Limited, “the effort to diversify the nation’s oil and gas production is a good move, depending on the level of resources being committed to it.”
“This is one development agenda that may have economic benefits for the nation. I have been somewhat involved in my time in oil and gas exploration in Nigeria, including the Chad Basin. Let me say first, of all, that this directive is within the president’s powers and may be applauded if those who will implement it would use their best business judgment to determine what steps to take and how far to go to achieve the goal. The above submissions were by four different professionals in the field of oil, finance and economy. They all cannot be wrong at the same time. The meaning of diversification of the economy, despite largely referring to looking for other money-making ventures for the state, cannot exclude looking for oil in other regions with prospects for it. Lagos now has oil and Lagos citizens/residents are happy about it despite that the state can survive without oil. Having more and diverse revenue sources should not be a source of anger for anyone meaning well for Nigeria. If the NDscAvengers and other destructive lazy militants in the Niger Delta Region were not so provocative and senseless in their destruction, perhaps looking for oil in the Chad Basin region will not be a priority of PMB. Lastly, those who encourage and support the militants in their destructive acts lack the moral right to blame the government for looking for oil elsewhere irrespective of what it commits in that pursuit. You cannot push one to the wall and still turn around to blame him for his reaction. Things don't work like that. |

How was the socio-economic condition of the United States before Obama became president? If you don't know, it was a disappointment! Did he rely on the usual blame game with George Bush's administration? NO!!! When you call a technician to fix ur gadget, you don't expect him to start quarreling with the technician that worked on it before because u have paid him to fix it! It's very simple. This government, like the previous ones, is nothing but scam!!! It took Obama more than 1.5 years to turn around USA economy he inherited. And that's an economy with functioning institutions and huge manufacturing companies. In fact USA is a producing economy and not a consuming one as our. You no sabi book at all. |

Did Last administration save or not?
who were those that pressurized the presidency of last administration to spend or disburse the savings? An administration that inherited N47 bn in reserves but left it at just over N20 bn despite earning more than expected cannot be said to save anything. The one shared was the Excess Crude Account (ECA) which was about N25 bn (?). The governors were very correct to insist on sharing it since they realized the presidency was already dipping its hands in the money without their knowledge. The money belonged to the states and the FG. The question should be "what did FG do with its own share of that money?" Just google NOI's take on GEJ lacking the political will to save. As she put it "GEJ had zero will to save". |
