thanks A Lot.I know it aint that easy but God is gonna help me.I thought about this issue myself when someone whom i knw so much told me abt how he missed FIRST CLASS degree despite the fact that he started with a CGPA of 4.15,got three different undergraduate schorlaships, and a 4.45 CGPA in fourth year.Although he told me that making first was very easy and that he bleeped himself up.This Guy Was Overgood Infact, But he still Couldn't get what he dearly wanted(a first class)to cap it all.His story got me pondering ever since then.I'll do my best and Gnd,in his grace and mercy will grant me my heart desire. THANKS ONCE AGAIN.

first class seems v.hard but it's achievable, I had a third class the first time I did Bsc, presently I'm run another Bsc and my CGPA is 4.59

Graduating with a 3rd class is nothing to be proud of, it means you don't know where your talents lie or you are just plain stupid_ and should have become a carpenter's apprentice rather than wasting your parents resources at college.

Failure is not the end of the world, i had third class in 2013, now am in my finals of another course and my CGPA is 4.59...

Thank you all for this trend!
I want to admit that I have a cousin who has been a victim of this HND issue. But in order for him to get past it, he decided to enrol for PGD and currently doing his MSc.
Although, he has earlier enquired from some universities that he will be eligible for PHD after his MSc.
Now my question,
1)is it advisable to still run BSc or just continue with the MSc since he will be allowed to run PHD?
2)if he then goes to run BSc after his MSc, won't there be issues about the order of his certificates (HND, PGD, MSc, BSc, instead of HND, BSC, MSC)?

Thanks for quality responses!

after is MSC, he can apply to any university for BSc or a BSc top-up(some universities in Nigeria have it now, many universities in the UK offers it)...

The truth is that even with your Ph.D. thru an HND, you cant lecture a university student in most schools in Nigeria...

Since 2003, when I graduated with my HND in accountancy, I have not had any reason to regret ever going to Polytechnics. Later, I enrolled for ICAN and qualified in a very short period. Why some people have continued screaming discrimination is what I don't understand.
If you allow the school to go through you while in school, no door, I mean no door will be shut against you.
Go for your HND if you have the means.[/quote

have you tried to apply to a big or multinational company before? then you hear some funny talks from the HR...

Let's stop deceiving ourselves and say the truth.
Most banks employ HND graduates than BSC because they have the experience due to their exposure back in school.
Most unemployed or unemployable graduates are BSC holders because even to write a formal letter they can't.

The bottomline is go get a skill and forget these bsc stuff except you you want to remain unemployed for life and still at home during mama put, mama thank you.

HMMm, they employ the HNDs to get about 40k-89k as salary, do you know how much the graduate dey give full employments get?

Hello everyone. I am really glad i have this opurtunity today.
i have been on here long enough and i have noticed the odd way most of you talk about first class graduates, the way you abuse, insult, bully, shame and condemn people who make the slightest attempt to mention that they have first-class. my cousin had a similar experience last week; when during gist with his friends he told them about the grade he graduated with, and to his suprise, he was not only shamed, he was insult heavily. Talks like 'not as if you will become rich', 'first class graduate with third-class Job' ,'you think its by grade' etc caused him to quietly leave their presence embarassed.

But seriously, why do most people react with explosive anger if they find out you are a firstclass, telling somebody about it is tantamout to saying you are boko haram member or you are gay. Why is academic excellence not celebrated by nigerians? is firstclass a curse? should a student delibrately skip class work, exams or test to prevent him\her from getting the evil curse called first class? would you discourage a sister or brother of yours who is at the verge of excellence to give up?

loooooool, it's normal na, i told a friend about my CGPA and his response was you aren't the first person to get that bro
