More than 100 schoolgirls remain unaccounted for after suspected Boko Haram militants attacked a town in Nigeria.

Parents have released a list of the 105 girls they say are still missing nearly a week after the town of Dapchi in Nigeria’s Yobe state was ambushed by the jihadi group.

The fate of the girls is not yet known, though many fear they have been abducted as brides for the Boko Haram extremists, who in 2014 kidnapped 276 girls from a boarding school in Chibok and forced them to marry their captors.

About 100 of the Chibok girls have never returned to their families nearly four years later.

The militants arrived on Monday evening, sending many fleeing into the surrounding bush amid the hail of gunfire.
While Nigeria’s president has called the disappearances a ‘national disaster’, local officials falsely indicated that some had been rescued while others would return from hiding in the coming days.



Yobe state Governor Ibrahim Gaidam on Friday put the number of missing girls in Dapchi at 84, but family members quickly refuted those figures.

Bashir Manzo, who has been heading up the relatives’ efforts, said they only took information when a girl’s mother or father appeared in person to report a missing child.

His daughter Fatima is among those still unaccounted for.

‘This list did not come from the school management or any government source but collated by us from the parents of the girls,’ he said.
‘As far as we are concerned, the governor is still being fed with fake information about these poor girls.’

While it appears that many students at the school did go into hiding, Mr Manzo said those children are now back with their families.

‘All those that fled into the bush had been brought back to the school on Tuesday, and a roll call was taken after which they had all gone home to meet their parents,’ he said.

The Nigerian minister of information, Lai Muhammed, visited Dapchi on Thursday where he told the media that the government still needs ‘some few days’ to confirm the actual number of missing girls.

A woman was reportedly buried alive and left to lay conscious inside her coffin for eleven days.

Her family smashed open the stone tomb after locals heard screams coming from the grave, but it was sadly too late.

By the time they had prised open the wooden casket, which had been nailed shut, Rosangela Almeida dos Santos, 37, was dead.

From the state of the coffin, it appears she had desperately tried to fight her way out.

A video has emerged showing the commotion in the Senhora Santana cemetery in Riachao das Neves, northeast Brazil, as some men took out the heavy coffin and removed the lid.

People shout for an ambulance as others touch her and say how warm she feels.

Ms Santos was declared dead by a hospital on January 28 and was buried the next day.

People living near to the cemetery alerted her family on February 9, 11 days after she had been laid to rest.

She had suffered injuries on her hands and forehead where it appeared she had tried to fight her way out.

The nails around the sides of the coffin lid had also been pushed upwards, and there were scratches and blood on the inside, reports claim.

Ms Santos, who was married but didn’t have children, had been in hospital for a week after being rushed there by her family with severe fatigue.

She went into cardiac arrest before dying from ‘septic shock’, according to her death certificate.

Her family buried her in a concrete tomb at the municipal cemetery in her home town of Riachao das Neves, the following day.

Local resident Natalina Silva told Brazil’s G1 website that many people heard muffled screams coming from the grave.

She said: ‘When I got there right in front of the tomb, I heard banging from inside it.

‘I thought the kids who play around the cemetery were playing a joke on me. Then I heard her groan twice, and after those two groans she stopped.’

Ms Santos’ mother, Germana de Almeida, 66, said: ‘She had tried to open the lid, even the nails that had been hammered in were loose.

‘Her hands were injured, like she had been trying to get out.’

The family believe she was declared dead in error.

Ms Santos’ sister, Isamara Almeida, said: ‘We don’t want to accuse any doctor, we don’t want to cause any problems.

‘But we witnessed that situation, there’s just no way a person can be buried for 11 days and still be warm.’

Police chief Arnaldo Monte, who is leading the investigation, said: ‘We have today started to take statements from family members and other people.

‘If need be we will exhume Ms Santos’ body again so we can get to the bottom of what really happened.’

A spokesman for the hospital that declared her dead said they ‘will provide all necessary information requested from them to the family and authorities’.

Just for reference, Stormi comes from good stock as her mother, the youngest of the OG clan, is now said to be worth a whopping $386 million (£278m) thanks to her make up empire. And it’s set to rise to a crazy $1billion by 2022.

Schiffer added we can expect to see the young one in endorsements or selling products ‘before she blows out the candles on her tenth birthday cake’ if they ‘follow the same model they have used with other family members’.

What may be a slight change through is that Kylie kept her pregnancy hidden – a departure from the normal Kardashian money making machine that attempts to squeeze cash from any sort of situation.

The University of Ibadan held its 2015/2016 convocation ceremony on Monday with 186 students finishing in the first class category.

History was also made as Ozibo Ekele emerged the first student of the Department of History to bag the first class since the foundation of the institution.

Ekele graduated with a cumulative Grade Point Average of 6.6 out of a maximum of 7.0.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Idowu Olayinka, said that a total of 5,629 students from various programmes, including those from the Distance Learning Centre, were awarded first degree certificates at the ceremony.The VC said that 1,538 graduating students finished in the Second Class Upper division, while 3,133 finished in the Second Class Lower division. According to him, 434 students finished in the third class with 81 students finishing with a pass.

Explaining why the university was unable to graduate final year students in the 2016/2017 academic year, Olayinka said that various strikes embarked upon by the teaching and non-teaching staff of universities across Nigeria had prevented the students from writing their final examinations early.

He said, “I am aware that there have been, of recent, strident public criticism of a large number of First Class graduates from our universities. I hasten to add that we are exceedingly proud of all Ibadan graduates. We see this phenomenon from the strategic point of view of input-process-output.

“In specific terms, the university has arguably the most competitive mechanism for undergraduate admission in the country. This has been attested to consistently by the Times Higher Education World University rankings in which UI is the only university in the country ranked among the topmost 801-1,000 universities in the world.”

The overall best graduating student from the Faculty of Law, Tolulope Ogunmodede, who spoke on behalf of others, said that he relied on hard work and prayer to achieve the feat.

The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Odude, has said four cops were admitted to a clinic subsequent to being harmed in a conflict between the police and students of the Federal College of Agriculture, Moor Plantation, Apata, Ibadan, on Monday.

The chief included that eight police vans were likewise harmed in the conflict.

Tempers flared in Ijeshatedo, Surulere, Lagos State, after a lady, Motunrayo Ayadi, purportedly broke the leader of her 13-year-old housekeeper, Deborah Matthew, for affirmed theft.
