🌴 O G O G O R O: MORE THAN A DRINK — A HERITAGE, A TRADITION, A CULTURE! 🇳🇬🥃 PELI ROOTS | Celebrating the Heritage of Original Ogogoro — Craft Kai Kai Long before modern trends took over our social gatherings, Ogogoro, popularly known as Kai Kai, had already earned a place in the cultural traditions and everyday social life of many Nigerian communities, particularly across the Niger Delta. But did you know that the story of Ogogoro goes beyond drinking? 🤔🌴 Here are some of its traditional uses and cultural significance: 🥃 1. Traditional Ceremonies: In some communities, Ogogoro is used during traditional rites, libation, and customary gatherings as a symbol of respect, remembrance, and cultural identity. 🤝 2. Marriage and Family Traditions: Depending on local customs, traditional spirits may feature in marriage introductions, family meetings, reconciliation gatherings, and other important occasions. 🎉 3. Hospitality and Social Gatherings: From family celebrations to community festivals, Kai Kai has a place in some local hospitality traditions, bringing adults together to share stories, laughter, and fellowship. 🌿 4. Traditional Herbal Preparations: Some traditional practitioners have historically used alcoholic spirits as a base for herbal preparations. However, such practices are not proof of medical effectiveness or safety, and Ogogoro should never be promoted as a cure for illnesses. 🏺 5. Cultural Heritage and Local Craftsmanship: Ogogoro represents a longstanding tradition of local spirit production, knowledge, and craftsmanship. Its story reflects the ingenuity and cultural identity of many communities. 🌍 6. Commercial and Industrial Applications of Ethanol: Properly manufactured ethanol has applications in certain industries, including cleaning products, extraction, and manufacturing. However, ordinary Ogogoro is not automatically suitable for these purposes without appropriate quality testing and controls. 🌴 WHERE HERITAGE MEETS AUTHENTICITY — PELI ROOTS! At PELI ROOTS, we respect the heritage of Ogogoro and the people behind its tradition. RIVERS 2027: AS CAMPAIGNS BEGIN TODAY, WHY CHINDA, MAJOR JACK & IDERIMA REPRESENT THE FUTURE *Published by Dugo Pelini Obom* (Renewed Hope Ambassador, Ward 13, Abua/Odual) *On behalf of: Rivers State Grassroots Mobilizers Forum* *Port Harcourt, Rivers State | September 9, 2026* Today marks the official commencement of campaigns by political parties for Governorship and State House of Assembly candidates, as stipulated in the INEC Timetable for the 2027 General Elections. For Rivers State, the journey to rescue, rebuild and renew begins now. In a state that has seen too much of executive-legislative turbulence, Rivers needs not just a Governor, but a team — a team that understands governance from the chamber to the Brick House. That team is found in the candidacy of Rt. Hon. Ogundu Kingsley Chinda for Governor, Hon. Major Jack as Deputy Governor, anchored in the State Assembly by experienced legislators like Hon. John Dominic Iderima. **THE GOVERNORSHIP TICKET: COMPETENCE MEETS BALANCE** Rt. Hon. O. K. Chinda emerged as the APC Governorship candidate after other aspirants withdrew and he was declared winner across the 23 LGAs. A former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives and member for Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency, Chinda brings national legislative depth, constitutional mastery and negotiation skills that Rivers desperately needs in this era. His running mate, Hon. Major Jack, Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly and representative of Akuku-Toru Constituency I, has now emerged as the APC deputy governorship candidate. His choice was aimed at balancing the ticket geographically and strengthening the grassroots base. Together, they give Rivers an upland-riverine balance, a bridge between those axis, and a promise of stability. **THE ASSEMBLY PILLAR: HON. JOHN DOMINIC IDERIMA OF ABUA/ODUAL** No Governor succeeds without a credible, experienced House of Assembly. That is why the re-election of Hon. John Dominic Iderima, member representing Abua-Odual State Constituency, and other candidates of the Rainbow Coalition is critical. Hon. Iderima is the sitting Chairman, House Committee on Transportation, a trailblazer in Abua/Odual, and a consistent voice for rural inclusion. He has commenced the execution of numerous projects in Abua/Odual in partnership with the local council and understands the peculiar challenges of the Abua-Odual people — from access roads and rural electrification to youth inclusion and security of our people. When you vote Chinda/Jack for Brick House, you must secure their legislative engine room by voting Hon. John Dominic Iderima and all other candidates of the Coalition to return to the Rivers State House of Assembly. **WHY THIS TRIO MUST WIN** 1. **End of Crisis, Return of Governance:** Chinda, Jack and Iderima are products of the legislature. They will replace impeachment threats with dialogue, law and order. 2. **Rural-Urban Agenda:** Chinda will attract federal attention, Jack will secure the riverine mandate, and Iderima will ensure that Abua/Odual is finally at the centre of development. 3. **The Rainbow Coalition For All Rivers:** This is Ikwerre, Kalabari, Abua-Odual, Ogoni, Andoni — all Rivers united project. A government that reflects Rivers' interests in full. **A CALL TO RIVERS ELECTORATE** As the drums of campaign begin today, let us be wise. The era of sentiment is over. The era of substance is here. In the creeks of Abua and Odual, in the mangroves of Akuku-Toru, in the streets of Port Harcourt, let one message resound: For Governor: Hon. O. K. Chinda For Deputy Governor: Hon. Major Jack For Abua/Odual State Constituency: Hon. John Dominic Iderima Let us vote for experience. Let us vote for balance. Let us vote for a Rivers State that works for all. ----------------------------------------------- *Sponsored by: Rivers State Grassroots Mobilizers Forum* *Published by: Don-peli Pelini Dugo* *For a United, Peaceful and Prosperous Rivers State.*

DON'T DESTROY RELATIONSHIPS OVER POLITICS: Elections Will End, Relationships Should Remain — Your Political Opponent Is Not Your Enemy, 2027 Is Not War. A Circumspection to Youths Ahead of the General Elections By: Dugo Pelini Obom (Renewed Hope Ambassador, Ward 13, Abua/Odual) | Port Harcourt, Rivers State | August 7, 2026 For every young person who has chosen to get involved in politics, there is one fundamental rule you must understand early: know the rules that guide the political system and learn how to maintain relationships beyond politics. The most important of those rules is this — your political opponent is not your enemy. That understanding is key to your personal advancement in politics. Those who truly understand the game of politics are careful about what they say and what they do, especially during a political crisis. They know that crises will come and go, but relationships remain. Your ability to differentiate between a political opponent and an enemy is a crucial part of the political struggle. You can easily reconcile with a political opponent. It is extremely difficult to achieve genuine reconciliation with an enemy. As young people trying to figure out a space in an already huddled political system, it is ethical to understand that People who hold a different ideology, belong to a different political party, or follow a different political leader are not your enemies. They are simply your political opponents. However, a political opponent can become a lifetime enemy. Whether that happens depends entirely on how you manage the relationship — your utterances, your actions, and your inactions during the period of conflict. When grudges, envy, and personal attacks take over because of conflicting interests, political disagreement turns into lifetime enmity. Needless to emphasize that In politics, interests change. If tomorrow your interests align and you find yourselves in the same camp, you automatically become friends again. That is the nature of politics. But it becomes almost impossible to mend fences when disagreement has degenerated into physical confrontation and deliberate personal attacks. As the 2027 general elections draw closer, we must remind ourselves that elections are not a civil war. Elections are simply a democratic process for choosing leaders. We must learn to respect the right of others to associate with any political party or group of their choice. Friends can remain friends, and relationships can remain intact even when people belong to different political parties. Killings, violence, and abuse are unnecessary. What defeats your opponent is a superior manifesto and your ability to propagate your ideas convincingly to the voters. The experience in Rivers State has taught us an extensive lesson. Many young people have inherited battles that were not theirs and have created enemies for themselves, while the principal actors have already reconciled their differences. The leaders shake hands, but the followers who engaged in physical and verbal attacks remain sworn enemies. The youth must learn from this experience and tread with caution. Do not inherit other people's battles and do not make more enemies because of politics. You may still need the same person you are attacking today tomorrow, when events turn. Leaders don't make enemies. It is the followers who make more enemies, while the leaders make more money in the process. Build bridges, don't destroy them.

BEYOND POLITICAL RECONCILIATION: THE IMPERATIVE OF REVISITING THE ABANDONED 10,000 JOBS FOR RIVERS YOUTHS: By: Dugo Pelini Obom (Renewed Hope Ambassador, Ward 13, Abua/Odual LGA) ………………….………………………………………….................. Port Harcourt, Rivers State | July 28, 2026 The paradox of Rivers State remains one of the most confounding in Nigeria's political economy. A state abundantly endowed with vast natural resources, strategic economic importance, and an energetic, educated youth population, yet grappling with an alarmingly high rate of youth unemployment and underemployment. This contradiction questions the very essence of governance and resource management. A critical case in point is the unfortunate abandonment of the proposed 10,000 jobs into the Rivers State Civil Service - a laudable initiative that held immense promise for socio-economic inclusion and human capital development. Regrettably, this employment scheme was jettisoned, not on grounds of economic unviability or administrative impracticability, but as collateral damage in the protracted political imbroglio between the incumbent Governor, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, and his predecessor and political benefactor, Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike, CON, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. This development reinforces a disturbing pattern in Rivers State's political culture where the youth are instrumentalized merely as political foot soldiers - mobilized during electoral cycles, eulogized for their resilience and sacrifice, but subsequently relegated to the background in the post-election distribution of democratic dividends. Historical antecedents have shown that whenever there is a political impasse or elite acrimony among the leadership class in the state, the greatest casualties are the citizens, particularly the vulnerable youth demography. This is antithetical to the fundamental tenets of good governance and the utilitarian principle that politics should engender the greatest happiness for the greatest number. The primary purpose of government, as enshrined in Section 14 (2)(b) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), is the security and welfare of the people. Employment creation, especially for the teeming youth population, is a fundamental component of that welfare. It is a veritable tool for curbing insecurity, mitigating youth restiveness, reducing poverty, and fostering sustainable development. It is in this context that the recent political reconciliation and the return of Governor Siminalayi Fubara to his original political family, the Rainbow Coalition, must be viewed as a window of opportunity. For a Reconciliation, to be meaningful and holistic, it must transcend elite handshake and photo opportunities. It must be people-centric and must permeate the socio-economic fabric of the state. The most pragmatic way to institutionalize this reconciliation and give it legitimacy before the citizenry is to revisit and reinvigorate policies and programmes that were hitherto suspended or abandoned due to the political and leadership crisis. The proposed 10,000 jobs is top on that list. While the administration had earlier alluded to a faulty foundation and procedural irregularities in the initial recruitment process, it is an established administrative principle that a flawed process can be audited, reformed, and recalibrated rather than outrightly discarded. What is required is political will, administrative due diligence, and a transparent, merit-driven revalidation process, not outright abandonment. Rivers youths deserve gainful employment by every standard of social justice and economic equity. Their contributions to the democratic process are invaluable. They expend their time, energy, and even personal safety to ensure electoral success. It is therefore morally and politically imperative that they benefit from the dividends of the government they helped to enthrone. As Rivers State enters this new phase of political stability, let us ensure that reconciliation is not just for the political gladiators, but for the common man. Reinstating the 10,000 jobs will not only restore hope and public confidence in government, but will also serve as a tangible peace dividend, demonstrating that political harmony can translate into socio-economic prosperity for all. Rivers youths must not only be seen as instruments for political victory, but as partners and beneficiaries of good governance. |
ATIKU'S OBSESSION WITH TINUBU'S PAST IS AN ADMISSION HE HAS NO FUTURE PLAN — ELECTIONS WILL COME, TINUBU WILL WIN AND HEAVEN WILL NOT FALL: By Dugo Pelini Obom …………………………………………… (Renewed Hope Ambassador, Ward 13, Abua/Odual LGA, Rivers State) Port Harcourt | July 27, 2026 In politics, strategy is everything. And in Nigerian politics, the inability to evolve strategy is often the difference between Aso Rock and permanent political retirement. For former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, his renewed obsession with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's decades-old forfeiture case in the United States is not a strategy. It is a confession. It is a confession that he has run out of ideas, run out of message, and run out of a credible path to victory in 2027. We have seen this film before. In the build-up to the 2023 general election, the entire opposition machinery, led by Atiku's camp, made Tinubu's personal history their central campaign. Morning, afternoon and night on television, on social media, in press releases, it was Chicago, it was forfeiture, it was drug case. What was the result? Nigerians listened, weighed it, and then voted on what truly mattered to them — economy, competence, and capacity to take hard decisions. That narrative failed woefully in 2023. To resurrect it now as the main plank for 2027 shows a stunning failure to learn any lesson from defeat. It is the classic definition of insanity: repeating the same thing all the time and expecting a different result. What the opposition political parties really do not understand is that, the problem with Nigeria is not about challenging the incumbent president Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu The problem is what different thing you can offer to Nigerians. Today, President Tinubu is no longer just a candidate whose private life can be debated in the abstract. He is the incumbent President with a record. There are policies on fuel subsidy removal, foreign exchange unification, infrastructure renewal, and national security to interrogate. A serious opposition would be presenting a superior alternative on cost of living, on job creation, on power supply, and on insecurity. Instead, what we see is laziness. It is easier to circulate old American court documents on WhatsApp than to do the hard work of building a coalition across the North and South. It is easier to trend a hashtag about Chicago than to go to the markets of Onitsha, the farms of Benue, and the creeks of the Niger Delta to sell a real plan. If the only strategy to defeat Tinubu in 2027 is still the same drug case narrative from 2023, then the opposition is not ready. To defeat a master strategist like Tinubu, you need more than blackmail and propaganda. You need organization, you need a compelling national message that transcends region and religion, and you need a candidate who represents fresh energy and a new direction. Nigerians are politically wiser than many politicians give them credit for. Elections are always about the future, not about gossip from 30 years ago. Let us be clear on one thing. Elections will come and President Tinubu will win and heaven will not fall Take it or leave it

LOYALTY IN THE STORM: HOW HON. IDERIMA STOOD FIRM AND WHY STABILITY AND EXPERIENCE FAVOUR HIM AS 2027 BECKONS: By: Dugo Pelini Obom (Renewed Hope Ambassador, Ward 13, Abua/Odual) …………………………………………………………… | Port Harcourt, Rivers State | July 30, 2026 In the lexicon of politics, loyalty is often preached but rarely practised. It is easy to profess allegiance when the tide is calm; the true test comes when the storm rages. In Rivers State, the protracted political impasse between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, and the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, provided that test. It was a period that strained trust, fractured long-standing alliances, and compelled many political actors to recalculate their allegiance. Leaders who had hitherto held their followers in high esteem watched in disappointment as loyalties shifted to newer, more convenient structures. Amidst this tension, when political survival seemed to demand compromise, Hon. John Dominic Iderima, the distinguished member representing Abua/Odual Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, remained unshakable. Hon. Iderima stood firmly with the political structure that offered him the platform to serve. In the face of orchestrated social media harassment, political intimidation and the lure of opportunism, he neither wavered nor faltered. His conduct reaffirmed a timeless political truth: that trust and loyalty remain the most vital currencies for sustained leadership and for any leader to continue to entrust a follower with greater responsibilities. What makes Hon. Iderima's stance even more commendable is that the political distraction did not derail his primary mandate — service to his people. While many were consumed by the crisis, he remained focused on the welfare of Abua/Odual. His interventions have been consistent and people-centred: facilitation of school fees for indigent students, healthcare support for the sick, and critical assistance to families grappling with accommodation and livelihood challenges. His representation has transcended legislative duties at the Assembly to direct, tangible impact in the lives of his constituents. It is on this dual score — loyalty to leadership and fidelity to his constituents — that the call for his second tenure is anchored. In leadership, one good turn truly deserves another. As Rivers State looks towards a renewed political direction in 2027 under the leadership of Rt. Hon. O. K. Chinda, there is justified optimism that stability and experience will count. Hon. John Dominic Iderima embodies both. He will offer even more stable, focused, and qualitative representation — one that will translate into massive, people-oriented development for Abua/Odual. In the end, history will remember not those who shifted with the wind, but those who stood firm when it mattered most.
