Jobs/Vacancies / Re: The Consulting Refinery Has Invited You To Take TCR Aptitude Test by Durothriz: 12:20pm On Nov 18, 2015
Pls wah kinda questions do we expect in the TCR aptitude test
VictorBabs:
The Consulting Refinery Program is being organized by Jobberman and Talentmine, and both of them are reputable organizations.

I was a part of the just concluded Graduate Refinery program organized by Talentmine and it was extremely helpful. For me, coming from an engineering background, I was able to develop skills in Business/Finance. The program was rigorous, filled with challenging assignments, individual and group presentations, business planning, financial modelling, etc. It is a brilliant program, and I think any serious minded person will find it very stimulating. Although, I paid 50k for it, I'm already contemplating being a part of the Consulting Refinery also. That's how good it was.

By the way, in the past, they have been running an undergraduate program that has placed some undergraduates in internships at global institutions like the prestigious Bank of America Merill Lynch and Goldman Sachs. Obviously, not all undergraduates got the internships, because, like with all multinationals, they had to undergo their hiring process. However, Talentmine gave them the foot in for consideration by these big firms and got them ready for the interviews as well and some people got the opportunities. At the end, it all depends on individuals and how much efforts they put in to make the best of the opportunity that Talentmine or any other organization would provide.

Lol I can totally relate to this and I definitely understand your paranoia, so I'll take a trip down memory lane just to convince you. I was looking for opportunities on random sites one day until I stumbled on Talentmine refinery program. I thought it'd be a great idea to participate. I went through the whole application process and I was successful. They sent me an email stating I'd need to pay 30k if I succeeded the interview stage. I was appalled because they hadn't stated this at the beginning. I told my dad about this program and he burst into laughter and discouraged me instantly by telling me it was not genuine. He said and I quote "These people are scammers. They know that Nigerians will fall for this because many Nigerians are jobless and that's why they made it so cheap so people won't hesitate to pay. Why would an exclusive program like this require just 30k for a 6-week intensive program. Also, if there was a fee attached, they'd have stated it on their campaign boards" I was devastated. My mom who was formerly excited became skeptical. That night we had a vigil to attend and I prayed(I know this may seem unnecessary, but I'll just chip it in) I refused to be discouraged, I said I won't give up because I had this conviction that the program was genuine. I went to do some research on Talentmine. I watched videos, searched for the names I saw in those videos and contacted them. I spoke to one omololu (I found on Linkedin) who had interned at Goldman Sachs, he sounded really professional and had a nice voice. I was successful at the interview stage and the email containing my acceptance didn't help matters;the way they demanded for money was just unusual I thought to myself. I still went on to gather some money to pay for the training (in faith. Afterall it was just 30k I'd lose if it was a scam). That weekend the program was scheduled to start, my dad and everyone who discouraged me were expecting me to see an empty venue. My mum took me that Sunday to Unilag, the venue. First, everywhere was quiet and by now my heart was already palpitating, my mum was equally nervous. I didn't want to be disappointed. We went on to check the rooms they had stated in my email, then I met emmanuella one of the coordinators, she directed me to the undergraduate section where the lecture had commenced. You can't imagine how overjoyed I was and my mum too. I was given a notebook and a pen, my mum gave me a thumb and I gave her a wink....

The Talentmine Refinery Program gave me the right exposure. I learned new presentation skills, how to write CVs and Cover Letters, Learned advanced excel skills, learned more about investment banking, also communicated with intelligent people which changed my thought process.
