More like State ID go to DMV you can use thst since you font have drivers license. Your passport and dsn is enough for that
For USCIS..i think you look for the case staus online

Sign up for something even if its community college. To show intent of domicile else it wpuld seem that you're not intent on making the US your residence
Thanks bro. The visa is expired, so think I just have to postpone my travel till the GC comes out

Taal17:
Have you contacted USCIS
Did you pay for your green card? If you haven't then you need to. That's what delayed mine, fortunately I received a letter telling me I haven't paid. I got the card about 2 wks after
Check USCIS site
Also your address is it the same address they have for you.

DOS where border patrol sits may have some overzealous staff so even though you visa is valid for a year. I would have the GC first.

Do you have a job or training or schooling in the US Do you have ties including residence card drivers license. All these show you have established domicile.
I have paid for the card over a month before I even came in. I don't know what's wrong. There is a USCIS number that I used to call, but only the Ai will be responding to you. I have checked their website, no updated info.

I don't have job yet, no DL or any training. Have only got SSN. How can I get the residence card please?

Thanks a lot for your reply.

They must be the bold.
Sure bro. We have presented it and was accepted. Now been waiting for appointment date for the Mama.

Quick one bro, have been in the US for 2 months, got my SSN but my GC card haven't come out yet. I'm planning to travel out of the US, is it possible to go out? My immigrant visa is still valid.

And with what the current administration is doing, do you think it's not a problem?

@Taal17 and others, I also need your input please 🙏

Between a 1-year diploma program in Finland and a 1-year master's program in the UK, which do you think I should choose? I have the budget for both, though the diploma is more affordable.
I don't know your plan henceforth after studies, but I will say "None of the above"... Find another country bro

Yeah, you need a joint sponsor who must not be a family member; LPR or USC. They too will submit their tax returns of three years and must have made enough and their household will be stated and examined by USCIS and/or embassy in Lagos. The savings and other income, Assets, Proof of current employment should help especially at the embassy since the case has been approved long ago. You can still upload these on the ceac site and go with the hard copies on the interview.
Thanks so much bro

there is a stamp they will put on your passport and that will enable you to work until the physical card comes in . Can’t remember the name again but I think it’s 11 something… can’t remember
Thank you so much

They don't have to live in the same house or even state.

They just need to have fill the form and provide evidence of income to meet the threshold for their own personal household plus the applicants.

So think carefully about who would be suitable and ask around
Thanks so much bro

Taal17:
Maybe you should share this on the NVC thread.

That being said, you need another joint sponosr.
It doesn't have to be a family member.

I'd guess your household size is large.
Go check the minimums financial requirements for the household size and compare it with the income you you put for petitioner and household member with i864A
Thanks so much bro. Yes, the house is large and this person has already filed for me in which I already got it. The application was made subsequently for two of us. Now, they are asking this for the remaining person. I guess they have already included me in the household since I already got it, maybe that is the reason why they think we need additional income?

For the joint sponsor, as you said, even a friend can stand as one? And must live in the same place?

Thanks brother

Look for joint sponsors.
Thank you. Must the joint sponsor be a family member of the household or it can be anybody?

Although, this financial part was not marked "rejected ❌" in the online application, so I'm considering their statement as an advice, I don't know. What do you think?

Hi guys,

Please, I will appreciate it if anyone knowledgeable about this can reply.

One of my relatives immigrant visas is on processing. We received a below message even after everything is submitted, now, we are not really clear on how to specifically attend to this. There's no any family member that can stand as a sponsor again here.

Instruction received:

" The income reported as stated on form I-864, I-864A is insufficient to overcome the public charge grounds of inadmissibility for visa issuance. To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 from a joint sponsor may be submitted. A consular officer will decide if you meet these requirements at the time of the interview. Note: You, as the sponsor, and any other sponsors household members and joint sponsors, must provide updated or additional evidence for the applicant to present at the time of their interview such as: Other income, Assets, Proof of current employment. You can continue to upload documents to CEAC up until the date of your visa interview "

My question, is it also possible to attach bank statement of the sponsor showing savings to that can cover the remaining fund required? Please advice

And, is there anyway we can contact CEAC?

This petition was filed in Dec 2022 and we are only waiting for this Mama interview date in Lag.

Thanks

@Taal17 @Aestake , please guys

Using Access Bank dollar account/card should work. That’s what I used when I paid for my PR application last year and it was pretty straightforward.

If you have anyone abroad and you trust, you can transfer the funds to them and ask them to help you pay
Thanks a lot. We got it sorted with the same Access bank card.

I can pay for you using my Credit Card, I’m currently in Lagos. You pay me the Naira equivalent. Hit me up if you are interested!
Thanks, we later got it paid.

About 3weeks or so.
Have you paid for the green card yet?
If you haven't you should get mail from USCIS saying that you not paid and requesting you make payment.

By the way your visa in the passport is actually valid for 1year from the date you entered the US. So if you need that you can use it as soon identification/permit to work
Thanks so much bro. You ve been so helpful here. God bless you. I will make the payment asap before I travel to avoid any delays.

Please guys, does anyone know how long it takes to get your card "Green Card" after entering the States with your immigrant visa? I know the timeline might be different from state to state, but I will appreciate it if anyone can share their experience with the state of Indiana in particular, or any other states.

Thanks guys

Get your certificates of education and take them with you.
Try to also get you student copy of you transcript if you can.

Some jobs would need your foreign credentials evaluated so you might need the original with you.

For your work experience please identify those who would verify this experience when you need a reference.

Now about your career choice.
Use you free time to research your sector and what career options are in your state. That's the state you are going to live in.

Civil service is a good place to start. Most states would have an agency responsible for waste collection and management.

Also look for companies doing environmental protection eg.waste cleanup, testing of effluent

Use LinkedIn and follow organisations in your field especially if they have presence in your state.

Look online for tools to rewrite your CV in away that's more acceptable in the US. Consider removing references to location of your previous jobs in the description eg. Say you worked with Gtbank ..no need to put Nigeria or Abuja. I say this because if this may count against you don't want it there. You can always answer location in interviews.

Lastly in the area where you live you might want to look into community colleges or universities that have certificate or short term courses in your field. US based education maybe give you an edge.

I'd also add that you can start with recruitment agencies in your area..they usually have contract jobs which are short term and can give you a foot in the door for US experience.

One more thing, it can take awhile so have a lot of patience to continue your career. Whilst you wait find regular jobs that can put food on your table .

In experiences I know it took some minimum of 54 applications to land a job in their career others more like 150 and some of these people did Masters in the US.
Brother, I can't thank you enough! Thanks a lot. This is very detailed and helpful.

I don't mind contributions from other experienced persons in here please, especially those who have worked or working in the same field.

Hello everyone, the veterans!

Please, my immigrant visa is approved and I am here to seek guidance on life generally in the US, especially how to make a decent income based on my educational background. I'm in the Environmental sector with a handful of experience in waste recycling and facilities management. Is there anyone here that has made a good career in the Environmental science sector? Do I need to do any sort of certification to land a good job in this sector? I see people talk a lot about either being in IT or Nursing to make a good money in the US, are these the only areas someone can thrive? I am also open to any beginners friendly business that can bring in money, your suggestion will be appreciated.

The USA they say is the land of opportunity and I believe that will be for people with rightful information. Please, I would appreciate it if people here can attend to my questions and give me a lead. Please bear with me if my writeup is not well put, I'm new here.

Thanks to everyone in advance.
