[b]Yes! The introduction of judges is a good development but have you for once thought of the down side of it?

Would you be here to defend the judges when aggrieved parties whom their contestant may have lost the contest begin to cast aspersions and accuse the judges of bias?

When the judges of a contest are attacked for bias the credibility of the whole contest is flawed.

Now tell me, which do you think is better to deal with. That contestants are accused of being too popular to contest or that the judges are accused of being biased?

You're and old member here and you know how shït gets uncontrollable here on NL when it hits the fan.

So if you think they have not considered that option reason again. And I'm sure you were ignored by Dygeasy probably because you never put your opinions the right way. Why should you be taken seriously when you come openly and attack in the name of stating opinions.

You don't call people out just because you feel you can state what you feel without considering their own thought process and how they'll take your opinions.

It's not all about throwing criticisms left right and center and think because you said something then you're definitely right.

You could be wrong too!

l proferrd solutions last time to dygeasy, but in true dictatotial nature, he shot me down and failed to apply it and is bringing the same nonsense again

On that thread I said the contestants should be presented to five-seven neautral Judges (non mods, but popular NLers) from 5-7 different sections once the Top 10 have been decided via votes from other NLers

These judges will be the ones to seive out the contestants based on beauty, interviews (oral & written etc) until we have a winner.

They don't even have a proper Q&A session for NLers...questions like "name five popular NLers in five sections", when did NL reach a million members? Name 5 NL mods....I don't see these in the Q&A, so, how is it really an NL beauty contest? undecided

The fact that organisers can't even reason like this and I have to waste my time suggesting this EVERY year is aggravating.

Pray tell, is that not how pageants are run? This one, they can't even get judges, they just leave everything to NLers as if it is election.

A beauty contest is not an election, it is a selection. The sooner the organisers of this farce learn that, the sooner non-Romancelanders will take it seriously

This is the last time I will proffer this solution, since most people are blind every time I did it. A former Mr NL contestant even mentioned the irregularities and nothing was done. The last time there was any sort of change was four years ago, but such a contest ought to be reviewed yearly

If people repeatedly complain and organisers never change the model, does it not make them dictators?

Bring in judges, I will even name Onila head judge if necessary, I will find seven judges and we will have a FAIR contest, anything else is a farce

Shot you down? You mean I pointed out the downsides of this approach?

You must really think lowly of us if you think we haven't explored other avenues like this. Somewhere in the archives I have the mathematical formula Jaybee3 put together three years ago in order to choose a winner. We eventually dropped it.

The idea of judges has been broached several times, deliberated on even but how do you make Nairaland members not scream bias when the voting/election process with the votes on the threads for anyone to count is still be called a "rigged" process.

I'd love you to reply your PM nonetheless and stop discrediting the contest this way.

i am complaining of the process and nobody from the serious side will ever contest because the process is flawed.

When something is flawed from the process, people will complain until it is made free and fair. You do not have the right to tell people not to complain.

If you want to sit by and do nothing, it's your business, after all, it is a commom Nigerian habit to sit by and watch nonsense, but don't tell others how to react. That is not your right, if you don't like what I am saying, you can also walk away and wait for someone to tag you to vote any dull, funny-looking soul.

I have sent you a PM. Kindly reply and let's be mature about things.

I know it is but I saw you telling someone who asked you to move it to romance that you're looking into it. That's what I'm frowning at. Let it just remain here.
The next edition can go to agriculture section and the next car talks. This will help improve the popularity of these sections, generate traffic to them and give contestants a level playing ground.
We were working on putting the thread in a spot where a lot of people can see it and participate.

Cc Dygeasy
Look very well. You'll see the thread is in the fashion section and Frontpage obviously to make the whole thing neutral as you say and to get across to a wider reach.

I know

The worst thin is that the organisers are like African Dictators, they refuse to modify the process to make it free and fair.

They just dash the money to people who look like Halloween costumes and expect you to suck it up, after all, God made us all in his image, nobody ugly
Any positive criticism gonna ever come from you with insightful suggestions to go along with it? Kindly give us better and foolproof ideas that will be devoid of controversy.

Hmmm here we go again...dygeasy calling the mods to move the thread to fashion session is a terrible idea... miss nairaland is simply a romanceland thing.. the mods can only move the voting thread to fashion session and not the nomination and campaign and interview thread... dygeasy tell mynd44 or lalasticlala to move it back to romanceland or else nobody will even contest, since they are unaware...how many people visit fashion session in a day, compare to romanceland.. as u can see, the thread has been affected already.
It's another year, you're expected to at least have facts before saying baseless things.

Where exactly did you see me call any mod to move the thread? undecided
