Bro I swear, very apt advise because there are so many unanswered questions. How much is the 70% of the loan that she’s paying back, what does she earn and how much of that goes to the loan. How much does she spend in taking care of the kids, is there built up resentment towards the guy because of something he has done? There are obviously not communicating properly because how come he doesn’t even know the details about the repayment plan of the loan. The foundation of their communication style is flawed and they need to fix that issue. I hope they settle their differences amicably and I wish OP all the best.
the emboldened make up the pertinent questions that will open up the path for helpful solutions.

If the OP's wife helped him come here on loans and other sources of money, does anyone not think it's a much bigger problem that he has no idea what the total costs are? It's either one person isn't disclosing or one person hasn't been asking up until recently. One or both is the case here and resolving that can actually fix a lot. Cos if she feels he owes her, a good step might be for him to get a full picture of his debt, pay it back (cos she wants it back) and focus on de-entangling himself from her visa.

I've seen a few here talking about being brash or brutally honest and going straight to the point. While those may be valid viewpoints, let's not forget that this man's life and future plans are tied to this woman's feelings. And how things pan out heavily depends on how he steers the wheel. So, wisdom is very key here. Caution too, in approach and interactions.

I wish the OP the best.

Trust me I've had this discussion but not leading to anything good, we talked today and i had to beg her again that this is much. Her responsewas I'lltake energy and council tax when im done with the loan, and i asked when is that "she said i dont know for now but by december or next year February". I created this new account to speak it out of a heavy heart. You won't really understand how worried i am. I'm even looking for weekend shift in care home or factory to get more funds. It's funny and this is the only avenue to share the worries
The biggest problem lies in you not knowing how she was able to finance your moving over. She probably holds a grudge over the fact that you didn't bother to know or care about how she made things happen. At the very least, when you were planning to move, you two should have discussed the funding, the loan, the type of loan, the duration, etc. to fully analyze the risks and rewards. That it's now that you're trying to find out about all of that only points to a much deeper communication problem between you two. Heck, she's even telling you not to worry about it or helping her to pay back. That would be worrying for me.

She's wrong for holding that "assistance" over your head but there's a lot of retracing of steps to be done here. You have to go back in time, talk about it and find out if she holds any grudges over that.

I don't subscribe to being in the dark about this other than taking her word for it, while you continue to pay for everything with no definite end in sight.

In my opinion, retrace your steps and sort out the communication problem in your relationship with her. Keep eating the humble pie like you are while you continue to search for your own empowerment (sponsorship), not for malicious reasons but to be sensibly protected in case she refuses to budge. You should not be at her mercy in that relationship. So, do everything to get that out of the way.

All of these aside and included, Una dey fok?

thanks Dygeasy......
cos i was thinking it's immediately after that 28days, you are going to apply for your visa. now i understand, if it is within 30days after i print out my POF statement, i have no issues with that cos my university would be sending my CAS letter within a week i.e 7 days time.
thanks once again Dygeasy for the explanation, i really appreciate it.....
no worries. I'm glad you're clear now.

All the best.

Hi Nairaland,

please about this POF, i still want you to clarify vividly to me. please explain. I have my proof of fund which is going to mature in 2days time that is my 28days is going to be completed in 2 days time. I would be printing out my POF 2days time. But my university is asking for my POF first before issuing my CAS. And it's going to take like one week for me to get my CAS from my university before i apply for my visa. My visa fee is ready but the university would be delaying me for a whole week to issue my CAS. This means a week is in between my printing out of my POF and applying for my visa.

Now the question is, would i still wait for another 28days again to print another POF before i apply for my visa or i should use the first print out of my POF i sent to my university to apply for my visa.

please nairaland clarify....
You can use the same POF and statement as long as you're applying for your visa within 30 days of printing the statement out and the funds in your account has not gone lower than the financial requirements.

Hello, I did my biometrics 12th may, I tracked my application it have been on this stage for more than 4 days now, whatdo you suggest?
for both this post and the previous one you had, th best thing to do is to wait.

If you must do anything, you can make a paid call to find out if the application has been decided.

well, yeah you're right. I have Revolut and still use it. It has its purpose and serves it well.

So I heard that there is a type of CoS that people now buy and it’s called “No Work”.

There is already an agreement btwn the seller and buyer that there is no work available, they can only provide CoS and people are buying it without thinking twice.

To think this care worker visa 6145 was just launched a year and 3 months ago.

If not for the rubbish that is going on, I see no reason why one month rent shouldn’t be enough. Even govt said the least you can bring is £1270 which isn’t a bad idea for a visa type that work is already on ground.

I sincerely hope the home office can do sth about this Fraud going on. It has eaten so deep mehn 🤦‍♂️
the care industry and the COS that comes with it is a massive bubble that will burst soon. It's ridiculous what many people are going through.

Let me just tell you now. Among all the banks in the UK, Revolut is one of the most useless. grin

DD from them hardly counts for anything. Na dem no dey part of switch scheme. Very anyhow bank. Move your direct debits to another bank.

Hi, i've registered on Experian, checked my credit score and it's 757 out of 999 (fair, not even good or excellent).

I'm 6 months in the country as a student but when i applied for the CC today using your referral link, it was denied.

I'm on the electoral register as well but i haven't setup any direct debit yet - i just did that today for my phone bill. I used to pay the monthly bill manually.

Is there anything i can do to fix this- even paypal instalment payment was not approved for me same with Klarna?

the emboldened explains a lot.

You have to show some committment to specific payments consistently and timely. If you can register on Creditladder, try to report your rent monthly. Once you're seen as one who doesn't miss payments, all these approvals will start falling in your laps.

Bigtt76 has a Creditladder link

I have an Amex card that I don’t use and I think I have zero points too.
Apart from using it for daily transactions how do I build my Amex points

refer people, and pray they get approved. You can get 4,000 Avios or more for every approved referral. Then, keep using the card. Place your daily expenses/transactions on it and ensure you pay back when due. For every £ you spend you get Avios back which can come in handy later.

what's wrong with care jobs?
I think the general idea is that many people are not happy/passionate about doing them but stay in them for sponsorship or the "ease" with which they're easy to get.

Care jobs for many with the potential to do more careerwise are meant to be survival jobs till they land on their feet but many of them remain stuck and keep doing them without actively pursuing "more."

Not to say some don't eventually settle into those jobs and find happiness.

To each theirs.

Which among these cities: Eastbourne, Worthing, Littlehampton, Hampden park, Portsmouth, Southampton and it's environs is abit affordable to live in with cheap accommodation and also have jobs

ps: current student at university of sussex and hubby is the dependent.

@Lexusgs430 @mamatukwas @all

Thank you
Eastbourne is your best bet as it's closer to Sussex Uni and Brighton's city center as a whole. You also don't want to be too far away from job locations/opportunities. Brighton offers that in abundance.

Hello everyone, my dependent moved to the Uk 2 months ago. Still, it has been challenging to get a document to prove their address...lost two jobs already and couldn't open a bank account. Even when I wanted to add her name to the tenancy agreement, they said they needed a three months pay lip.
They also rejected the Electoral letter confirming the address.......please, what can we do?
Get her to open a Monzo account. The address Monzo ships her card to will most likely be attached to her profile first.

Then, she can get her bank statement once the account is up and running. Her bank statement is an acceptable proof of address in most cases.

Let's know how she gets on.

Wife: I am not feeling supported, let's get divorce

Husband: ok

Nairalanders: it's domestic violence

Life in the UK.

Make we dey catch cruise, I write my own twist:

Husband and wife move to the UK. Wife meets her old university ex, who is driving a lexus gs430 and seems to be doing well in the UK with permanent residence. Ex wants to continue where they left off.
Meanwhile husband is struggling to make ends meet and doing a minimum wage job that British people will not do and cannot meet all of wife's needs. Wife looking for an easy way to a better life, eets husband and says I want a divorce I don't feel supported. Husband knows the scores, it's a lose lose for him so to avoid stories that touch he agrees.....

He should start looking for sponsorship. If they have kids, he can remain on that basis (Right to family life).
I personally don't see any reason to remain in a toxic marriage just because of a visa.
For those who are speculating that the guy is not pulling his weight, could it also be that the guy had a very good job/business back home and was reluctant to come to the UK but only did due to pressure from his spouse? And then probably he is yet to find something similar ro what he left and unwilling to start from the ground? There are countless stories like that that have caused strains in relationships.
The way we jump to conclusions on this thread ehn. It's amazing.

Who knows if the man is asking about being arrested because he's worried about what his immigration status would be once the divorce process begins?
