The dealer won’t tell you he bought a Lien title car or used a high-mileage auction to get that $16k price. He won’t tell you he has a bulk shipping deal that cuts his cost heavily. He won’t tell you his clearing agent arranged a valuation that a normal first-timer/JJC may never get.

Yes, my example came from a specific period when exchange rates were moving up and down, but the main point has not changed:

The difference between landed cost and car stand/showroom price in Nigeria is hardly ever small. Most times, you’re looking at around ₦4m to ₦7m gap, sometimes even more.

Whether dollar is ₦700 or ₦1,500, dealer profit is still dealer profit. The markup is usually a percentage of what the buyer doesn’t know.

So if you’re a dealer, I understand why this thing is paining you. But if you’re a buyer, stop fighting for the person collecting your money.

Ask questions, do your own math and save your own money.

Oga, you have not done the math o, you are only trying to justify the ignorance you have displayed here.

What I am saying is, sell your product but do not promote it by exaggerating the fact.

People do business to be profitable just like you are trying to do. You want to promote an alternative to buying from dealers, great! but do not distort the fact to promote yours.

And don’t think you are a threat to dealers with the packaged information you are selling.

The information is out there for any intelligent person to seek out and stay buying vehicles by themselves.

I have been buying vehicles for myself since 2007 and also for friends and family. The importers @gimporters and the customer clearing agent @ablylogistics I used were gotten from this same Nairaland and they are doing a good job for me.

In the last one month alone I have bought 3 cars for people.

So bro, nothing new you are peddling that is not already out there on the web but if you are going to promote your business, please do so with realistic facts and data.

I still maintain that your story is not realistic even at half the current exchange rate to a dollar.
