Kobojunkie:I actually thought we could have a decent conversation and let scripture explain itself. However, with your approach of trying to select some parts of the bible which favours your belief but condemn other parts which don't align, you are clearly on a whole new level and it is pointless going further with this discussion. I'd advise you to be open to the entire scriptures and let God shine the light of his word in your heart for better understanding. God bless and have a good evening ma'am |
CatANDratTHEORY:OP, please correct your title as it is misleading which is causing people to make wrong comments. Mrs Faith Oyedepo did not say you cannot question your husband. She said you should not question the position of the man in the family. |
Kobojunkie:Two things to address in your response, 1. You say this "curse" of the husband ruling over a wife ceases to exist because of the death of Jesus Christ, how come the other curse to the woman of pain during child birth has not been nullified? Or once a woman believes in Jesus, child birth becomes pain free? You can't be selective when applying scriptures. Secondly, the curse to the man "You will have to work hard all your life for the food the ground produces." is also not nullified through the death of Jesus Christ. You will agree that generally man still needs to work hard to provide for his family even till today. You also seem to ignore several passages in the new testament (after Christ's death) where the husband is still recognized as the head of the wife. Does it mean the writers of those passages forgot the effect of Christ's death? It simply does not apply that way madam. For reference - I Cor 11:3, Ephe 5:23 - 25 2 You talk about Equality. I really wonder why "Submission" is being equated to "Inequality". those have totally separate meanings. We are all equal in the sight of God, no doubt. However, that does not mean there is no head? Example - In our secular work places, we likely have a boss who gives instructions and the employees submit to those guidelines. You can give advise to your boss as applicable but the final decision rests with the boss (may be right and may not be). That is authority & headship. In all of these, your boss does not see you as less of a human being or not equal to him. Yet for order to reign, there is a hierarchy in the organization. the same applies to the family. We are all one and equal in Christ but the family has a head who is the husband. Hope the above helps clarify some of your misconceptions. |
