Nairaland / General / “re: Aregbesola Is Specially Annointed” – Pastor Adeboye Was Right. by ebbytonice(m): 3:07pm On Nov 28, 2012
Towards the end of last year, the highly respected man of God Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) came calling at the office of the governor of the state of Osun, Engineer Rauf Aregbesola.

Pastor Adeboye postulated that Aregbesola has been specially anointed to become the governor of the state of Osun since the creation of the state. He further stressed that he had to breach his protocol, as against what happens in other places he visits because the case of Osun is different and there is a different kind of governor there. He finally submitted by saying that God will use Aregbesola to bring unprecedented development to the state of Osun.

Close to a year after the visit of the man of God, the manifestation of the word of God through his prophet is abundantly clear for everyone to see.

Just two years into the life of Aregbesola’s administration, God has used him to turn the lives of the people of Osun around for good; he has brought them out of the shackles of underdevelopment and suffering of the past.

Here him, “when we came into office, our greatest challenge was the infrastructure of the mind. The people have to be mentally prepared for development. This is because development is about people. Infrastructure is not development; it is just a tool for human development. We have real development only and if our people are developed. This is the essence of the Omoluabi concept”

From education, agriculture, youth empowerment, commerce, to road construction, health, etc the efforts of Aregbesola are glaring for everyone to see. (Read the full transcript of Aregbesola’s 2nd year anniversary broadcast here. http://www.osundefender.org/?p=73372)

Pastor Adeboye and all the good people of Osun will be nodding in agreement and saying, God is not a liar!

For those who are jolted by the landmark achievements of Aregbesola, but feel the best way to tarnish his image is to tag him ‘Boko Haram’, don’t forget the biblical injunction “touch not my anointed”.

Religion / Re: Is Nigeria A Secular State? by ebbytonice(m): 7:15am On Nov 26, 2012
Evil Brain: OP is talking nonsense. Secular means not religious, and the constitution is clear that Nigeria is a secular state.

Just because the government is wasting our money on sallah rams, Christmas gifts and ridiculous pilgrimages doesn't invalidate the constitution, or change the meaning of the word "secular". It simply means that the government is breaking the law and violating the constitution, and they need to stop.

Let me remind OP that Christianity and Islam are not the only religions Nigerians practice. What about our traditional religions? What about the grail people, Eckankar and others? What about atheists? Why are they being discriminated against?

People who support this type of nonsense just because it happens to favour their own religion are short-sighted and stúpid. They lack the sense to see the consequences of what they're promoting. I wonder if when they get a Guru Maharaji worshipping governor, they'll be happy when he starts using state resources to promote his religion.

i haven't still seen where the constitution states that Nigeria is secular, be more factual pls.I am a christian and i see nothing wrong in what aregbesola did.
Religion / Is Nigeria A Secular State? by ebbytonice(m): 6:30am On Nov 25, 2012
As a result of the ripples the hijrah holiday declared by the government of the state of Osun generated, it becomes pertinent that the issue of Nigeria’s secularity be looked at.

Is Nigeria a secular state? The word secularity is derived from the Latin word “seacularis” meaning ‘worldly’ or’ temporal’. A secular state is therefore a concept of secularism whereby a state purports to be officially neutral in matters of religion.

In Nigeria however, government have agencies created by law and adequately funded to see to religious matters. The Christian and Muslim pilgrim welfare board, the millions of naira spent on sallah ram and Christmas rice and gifts yearly clearly suggest that Nigeria is not secular. How then can someone conclude that Nigeria is secular?

Therefore the decision of governor rauf aregbesola to declare hijrah holiday in Osun should not be condemned on the ground that Osun is a secular state. This is a multi-religious state, and the interest of all must be protected.

teniyi: Oyinlola and CAN (State of Osun, branch) are defeated already.
All their effort to bring the Governor of the people (Aregbesola) to disrepute has come to nought.
Oyin ko ooo!
pls leave CAN out of this o, majority of osun Christians myself included, voted and supported aregbesola. This isnt about religion, it is about who has the interest of the people at heart.
