Nairaland / General / No Money The New National Anthem by ebiperfect7(m): 11:16am On Mar 08, 2016
NO MONEY! NO MONEY!! NO MONEY!!!
That is the anthem every body sings these days. And to worsen the situation fuel is scarce so d price is high and the Naira is reducing in value.
In spite of all these economic plague i have come to observe that there is still traffic on the road and people have not parked their cars because they could not afford fuel. When you go to banks you see queues long like say them dey share free rice (deposit and withdrawal). Same story applies to markets and shops they are as busy as the time there was money..
So i kept asking myself are Nigerians lying or actually there is no money so they decided to spend their savings.
looking at the saving habits of Nigeria the Ondo State Branch Controller of the CBN, Mrs. Adeyemi Yusuf, stated this at the World Saving Day programme organised for students of St. Peters Unity Secondary School, Akure, the state capital. According to her, “saving habit is not very encouraging in Nigeria,Nigerians lack the habit of saving, saying this has a negative effect on the country’s economy"(November 7, 2015)
Also Speaking at the financial inclusion sensitisation at the NYSC Camp, Kubwa, Abuja, Dr Kabir Kataka said about 65 percent of Nigerian adult population have no banks accounts (May 25 2015).
So if Nigerians don't save the big question is WHERE IS THE MONEY COMING FROM?
In conclusion in spite of all the economic illness befalling this our great nation there is still money for us to spend so we should stop singing the anthem "THERE IS NO MONEY". Also these economic plagues as made Nigerians to spend their money wisely (no parties, bars are empty,no birth day and unnecessary celebrations etc)
