Delta state born singer, Harrison Okiri, popularly known as Harrysong, has explained why he recently attacked the state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.

The singer last week lamented the incessant communal clashes in the state.

He accused the government of not doing anything decisive to stop the wanton loss of lives.

Harrysong told Punch that “It is a cause that we are fighting but we don’t want to say anything now.

“I’m going to Delta State on Sunday (today), and I’m going to bring back the final report that we can now talk about .

“The thing is trending, and everybody has been calling me both from the state and outside. I will go to both communities that are fighting, and I will make sure that I meet with the authorities concerned. It is not an easy cause but we will face it till the end.

“Entertainers are the voices of the people, both in melody and in words. I think entertainers should speak up in cases like this because the world would hear us quicker and listen to us better because we are role models to a lot of people.

“The roles that we play in the lives of young people and the society at large cannot be overstated . We should speak up for our states, country and the world in general.

The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Kaduna State has started getting back some of her chieftains that left the party before the 2015 general elections.

The umbrella revolution is gathering steam ahead of 2019 as several All Progressives Congress (APC) are not just following the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar’s example of quitting the party, but are taking shade under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

MC EBISCO gathered that the weekend in the state would witness massive defections to the PDP, with the Amanda Filing Station, Rigachikun in Igabi local government area witnessing the first action on Saturday, December 2.

It was reliably gathered that APC Stalwart, Alhaji Yaro Makama, a former state chairman of PDP and thousands of his supporters would formally take the shade of the umbrella at that gathering.

The following day which is Sunday, December 3, would witness another mega defection of APC members to the PDP at a ceremony billed for the Anchau Township Stadium, where many other APC Chieftains are expected to dump the party for PDP.

The defection of APC members in the state may not be unconnected with what many have described as the way and manner the affairs of the ruling party is been run following the presence of AKIDA APC in the state.

It is also speculated that other chieftains of the ruling party who were initially members of the PDP may soon return to their root

Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, has said he is not worried about the draw for the 2018 World Cup on Friday.

The communications department of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), quoted Rohr as saying this in Moscow on Thursday.

“There is no weak squad in the 32-team field, and anyone hoping to play so-called `average teams’ in the group phase is only guilty of wishful thinking,” he was quoted to have said.

“All the teams that are in the Final Draw, except host nation Russia, played qualifying matches. They all emerged from tough encounters and, therefore, none can be tagged `weak’.

“In the next 24 hours, we will enter the State Kremlin Palace for the Final Draw and a couple of hours later, everyone will know their opponents.

“There is no apprehension. If you have to be listed among the best, you have to conquer the better teams and even beat some of the best.

“Seriously speaking, every team has the right to dream. But we have our heads on our shoulders and our feet on the ground, and whatever draw comes, we will take it one match at a time.”

Pep Guardiola was involved in an intense conversation with Nathan Redmond following Manchester City’s dramatic 1- 0 win over Southampton on Wednesday night.

Two armed robbers have met their Waterloo in Kagarko bush, Kaduna State, during a gun duel with the police.

MC EBISCO Metro learnt that 413 stolen cows and 50 sheep were recovered by the police, as other suspects fled.

It was gathered that operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team deployed along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway engaged the robbers on Monday around 2am.

An officer on the team disclosed to our correspondent on Wednesday that the cows and sheep were moved to Katari town, where many of them were returned to their owners.

“On November 27, at about 2am, IRT operatives on Operation Absolute Sanity along Abuja-Kaduna Expressway engaged some armed robbers moving with hundreds of stolen cows. During the fierce gun battle, two of the armed robbers met their Waterloo as others fled and abandoned 413 stolen cows and 50 sheep,” he said.

He explained that while 337 cows and 41 sheep had been returned to their owners, 76 cows and nine sheep had yet to be claimed, adding that efforts were ongoing to arrest the remaining bandits.

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Moshood Jimoh, could not be reached for comments as of press time.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, has deployed more units of Mobile Policemen made up of 500 men to Adamawa State to assist in securing the areas affected by the recent herdsmen farmers clash in the state.

In addition, a team of technical investigators is currently in Yola, the Adamawa State capital with a view to finding the perpetrators of the killings in Numan community in the state.

At the state headquarters of the Nigerian Police Force in Adamawa, the newly deployed mobile policemen have already arrived awaiting further instructions.

According to the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Moses Jitoboh, two units of 200 Mobile policemen are already in Numan to prevent recurrence of the clash.

He appreciated the IGP for the quick response saying that the Police are on top of the situation and the area is calm now.

“As of now, the mobile men are into the interior. They have been deployed to the flashpoint areas in the interior.

“Yesterday, there were perceived conflicts between the herdsmen and the farmers and they prevented the crisis,” he said.

The Police Commissioner, therefore, assured the people of the state that the Police is committed to safeguarding lives and property.

He said that the fear of any reprisals or counter attacks should be allayed as the police will ensure that the people sleep with both eyes closed.

The recent clash between farmers and herdsmen in Numan local government area of Adamawa State resulted in the loss of lives making some residents to flee the affected communities in Adamawa over the fear of reprisal attack.

Former Vice President, Alex Ekwueme, has been flown abroad for medical treatment.

The ailing Second ‎Republic Vice President was brought to the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu at about 7:26am on Sunday in a National Orthopedic Hospital Enugu, SUV ambulance.

Vanguard reports that he was driven straight into the tarmac, where he was transfered into a waiting air ambulance with registration number N605 JA.

According to the report, the Air Ambulance had arrived the airport late Saturday evening and spent the night.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had few weeks ago approved foreign medical treatment for Ekwueme.

An Associate Professor at the Department of Forestry and Environmental Management, University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Edem Eniang has revealed how politicians use vulture egg to acquire mystical powers to win elections.

He sounded the alarm that the vulture, a scavenging bird is gradually going into extinction in Nigeria.

Eniang disclosed that the search by desperate politicians for the eggs has intensified as 2019 approaches.

He told Vanguard that some Nigerian politicians use the eggs highly demanded by native doctors for supernatural power and preparation of voodoo to win elections.

An egg of a vulture is said to costs over N1million because of its soaring demand.

Dr. Eniang maintained that unscrupulous politicians were capitalizing on the spiritual potency of the bird to hunt for the eggs for spiritual fortification.

He said, “The vulture is a very special bird created by God to serve as a natural vacuum cleaner, they clean-up all available rubbish, but the politicians and favour seekers hunt and pick the eggs of these special creatures for their fetish needs, diminishing their population and not allowing the eggs to be incubated and hatched.

“As it is, the existence of the vulture is greatly threatened, as Nigerian politicians hunt desperately for its eggs.

The bird is so important that the United Nations set aside the first Saturday of September, every year, as World Vulture Day.

“Today, vultures are disappearing; most people do not even realize the importance of the existence of the vultures.

“They help us to clean our environment by feeding on death decaying materials and save us from diseases that would have spread around from the decaying materials.

“Mad persons, who die in our cities or along the highways are allowed to rot away on the surface of the earth, spreading diseases, but God created vultures to protect the environment.

“God in his wisdom created all things for the purpose of partaking in the ecosystem so that the balance of life will continue.”

According to Eniang: “They sometimes engage community youth to climb very high trees to get the eggs for them. These youth climb Iroko trees in the midnight to pick vulture eggs.

“They climb at darkest night knowing that the vulture does not see in the night to steal their eggs.

“Unfortunately, the vultures do not lay many eggs and they lay once in a year and the eggs are most hunted.

“Nigerian politicians are too desperate to get power. You do not need juju animism to win an election.

“Your antecedent and pedigree should pave the way for you, not the eggs of the vulture. Do not depend on the mystical potency of the vulture’s egg.”
