My pray is that Nigeria police EFCC try to remove tribal sentiment . If the Nigeria police EFCC do that , nigeria would be a wonderful place to live in. board chairman in NPA really is figure head, they never show up or have an administrative duties. Most body members in nigeria govt companies never show up for meeting. So the MD runs the whole show. And Nigeria MD are smart people. They know how to change figure without board. Ask people into contract in Nigeria. No real contract need to go to the board. they just divide the contract into smaller piece. And forget about board members.

I know that is what is going in NPA. This is a fact.

If you people, like the Nigeria police EFCC can get out of your tribal sentiment , nigeria can be a better place. They are just making Chief Bode George to become a hero "

Can you explain to me how the recently arrested CHAIRMAN of NDDC was able to pay 510 million out of 800 million naira to a socerer amongst the many other offences. And yet he is supposed to be a figure head since his designation reads "CHAIRMAN". Sorry your argument(s) dont follow at all. What do you mean by tribal sentiments. DO you think anybody in this group is disillusioned by the nature of our corruption? I am sorry folks but we still think that the problem of corruption is a tribal thing then we are not even in the process of proferring a solution. Open your eyes. The exposed governors so far have representation from all corners of the country. Or do i need to be more specific. Breddren, the problem in niger is a "rich vs poor" and "elite vs masses" one and NOT "hausa vs igbo" or "yoruba vs Niger delta". It's sorry posts such as this above that make us very very stagnant no matter the collective effort at recognising and eradicating these cankerworm called corruption

Someone asked about Intl Passport. It is at tghe induction ceremony that you will initiate your application for visa, so yes you should have ur passport ready by then. As for the results, dont you all forget that PhD applicants have not been selected yet. They havent even been interviewed yet. In any case PTDF will still announce the induction details on newspapers. So watch out. The next publication is going to invite PhD applicants for interview and then a subsequent publication will inform all successful candidates (MSc and PhD)of the date of induction. So make una coolu temper for now.

To the fellow who threw open the first question and all the others like him i suggest you read up all the posts by V/Admiral and Dr Odiase. That is as Objective and patriotic as it gets. Take it or leave it. My own two cents is this;Join the Armed forces first and foremost because you wish to help defend the territorial integrity of our dear nation. Ask your self how patriotic you are. The armed forces rise above tribalism, sectionalism, sex differences, religious differences,etc. Sorry, i am just giving you one more reason to like to join in. amylizzy, I am sorry i dont get you. i understood the question and i made some analysis but still presented my own answer. May be you should read the two posts again.

In order to be objective, i think the ladies in the house should decide  the sexiest male while the guys decide the female. gain, this is for objectivity sake. So what is my vote? Sexiest female: Without taking anything away from Genny, i will give it to Omosexy. Why? She's got like how many kids and she still looks like that. Period!!!!

Sorry i left one thing unsaid. There is a reason Dbanj might be around for a long time. Don Jazzy. I personally think tuface needs some one who will bring out the charisma in him and his performance (on and off stage). Not necessarily Don Jazzy but he needs someone all the same.

Its doesnt make sense comparing them. Do their songs belong in the same genre? And if we decide to put them together under a hybrid genre called "naija" it will still be different strokes for different folks. I live in china and i can assure you that the song "African Queen" is a household name in the chinese and foreign community here. Several copies of the video is on the most popular chinese video sharing site (not youtube).On the other hand, the very first day i played "Why me" in my room. I got lots of visitors. They didnt care what was being said, they just liked the way he handled the harmonica and his entertainment worth. When they heard "tono sibe" they wanted me to bring it the club over the weekend.

As for me, is Dbanj weaker in Lyrics than tuface? Yes
Is the "koko term and associates" getting over used and ridiculous? yes
Does Dbanj have a better command of stage performance? Yes
Is Dbanj a harmonica guru and an entertainer with "boundless energy" as popularly described on the web? Yes
If i am forced to choose one out of the two will i pick Dbanj? Heeeeeeeellllllllllllllllll yeahhh!!!!!

I also think that he may have found he needed to pubicize himself if he was being sidelined or shortchanged in credit due to him simply because he's African American. Ciao.

Please forgive me for barging into this discussion group. But i couldn't help it. It's intellectuals who are discussing here and so this is a place o measure the pulse of my dear nation. Permit me also to hide my true identity and my long list of achievements (which are mainly certificate (glorified paper) based) behind my screen name as i really dont like to do that. However a member of my family (my sibling) rightly belongs here cos and i have always been monitoring this group just so i could let this person know first-hand when there's news from LNG. This person is however not waiting and is fully employed(by the largest recruiting industry in Nigeria ofcourse-----the bank)  despite just finishing the youth service.
Anyway, the point of my coming in here is that i havent been in Nigeria over a year now on postgraduate studies and as such i am always keen on reading messages that tell the true story of what's on ground. And i must say that , what i see or hear sometimes make me feel less patriotic.
I will just like to share a few lessons i learnt from living in china.

1. Although my room (including the bathroom) occupies an area of 12 sq metres(3m by 4m   for you to appreciate how really small it is for a postgraduate student), i have regular power supply, running water and high speed internet connection not to talk of an airconditioner that doubles as a room heater. All these at ridiculously affordable costs. They are in almost every room of every hostel of every university in china. (As a guide, there are over 500 universities in china and my school is home to 50000 plus students). It's like a standard specification that comes with the building. So dont get me wrong, its not a status symbol. Just a basic amenity being provided. And by the way, the chinese scholarship council allowance for foreign students is not up to 200 USD monthly(Infact it's 1800 USD for the whole year) yet it is sufficient. I went to the UK to spend the holiday so i think i can say that i dont need to go to America to know that China is the greatest. here is my candid simplified analysis
On the assumption that all the above count as basic living needs:
a, In Nigeria, Standard of living is very low and cost of living is very high
b, In UK and US, standard of living is very high and cost of living is very high
c, In China, Standard of living is very high and cost of living is very low.

Give china another 10 years. Thats all they need and they will be the center of the world. and they are already working hard at it.
I am saying all these because everyday i see one more sign that Nigeria has a long way to go. The question is are we even at the beginningof the journey yet? I am sorry but i think even an LNG job cannot provide some of these things. When it does, at what cost does it? At the cost of the sound of a generator that disturbs the peace of the night? or at the cost of erratic (while expensive) gsm and internet service without apologies from the providers? At the cost of boreholes and having to pratically establish a water treatment facility at home?At the cost of surrounding your building with very high walls and barbed wires(by the way, thats something i havent seen in china or UK).

In china, you dont need an LNG or Chevron job or have so much money to live a basically comfortable life. In Nigeria, you have the dream job and yet, where is the comfort? The saddest of all is that our leaders are well travelled but are they well enlightened? I intend to return to Nigeria as soon as i finish my studies cos other than feeling comfortable here, i also feel ashamed.

I wish everyone  who has been waiting on LNG a success story, with or without LNG. I have been in that situation myself but not for this long. Elsewhere, LNG would have been blacklisted by students at recruitment fairs on campus grounds. Does this surprise anyone? I doubt it.
