Obviously Mr President is smart enough to know whom to pick as a replacement for a seasoned economist such as Soludo.
And Lamido Sanusi seems to be a good match with a possibility of surprises that can only be good for Nigerians.
Plus, Sanusi's antecedents show that he is "not part of the establishment" (if you know what i mean) and that's another plus for Nigeria.
I wish him luck but like others said, this speculation must end. I am fine with Soludo or Sanusi, which is more than i can say for past CBN governors (northerners and southerners)

But right now, i really dont see what is enviable. Cos here in the UK (and i bet it's the same in the US),i dont see anyone else apart from Africans and Asians doing postgraduate studies or even studying science/Engineering courses at the undergraduate level.

That said,, Sometime in 2003 during my I.T in P/Harcourt, i met this certain secondary school leaver who was excited about starting up at a University. Sadly, all i recall him talking about was the 'confra' that he was going to join and the kind of grooving he was going to involve himself in. I just found myself wondering,

Nigerian Universities are good and they have had their days of glory. But even then and now it will and would be
gabbage in = gabbage out.

I know a school that reduced it's 'Admission by remedial' exam score to as low as 25% just so they could meet up with the quota (60% of admissions usually go to people within the catchment area of the university or something like that).
Now tell me how someone who scored only 25% in O-level kind of exams can learn anything in a University.

Like i said, gabbage in = gabbage out.

I will blame the culture that placed too much emphasis on paper qualification or schooling as the only way out in life. Over here i dont see Brits being crazy about university. I am guessing it's because they live in a society that doesnt put too much pressure on them to do so.

I never cared about nutritional content when i was young. Thats wasnt my business but my parents i guess. All i know is, Bournvita was way to bitter for me compared to Milo back then. It's funny and cool to see that i was not alone in that thot.

At any rate, aint we already on the way? What percentage of today's kids grow up learning to speak (not listen ooo) their native language like it was wayback in time. Tell me, 40 years from now how willing will today's kids be to teach their own kids. First you have listed up to 4 indigenes who were VCs with the exception of the Binis. You presented it like it was designed to do just that. Wait, i dont get it. So the problem is not that she's not qualified. Just that she's Igbo. My God!!!! Are we talking about an institution of higher learning or are we talking about a local Govt? Those "concerned , what do they call themselves" need to go get a university education again. That is if they ever did b4. This is dissappointing oooooooo. So a new VC is appointed to the Federal University in my town and  the first thing that i want to find faulty with the VC is tribe or gender And not the experience he/she brings to the office??Mchew!!!

Sectionalism, tribalism, sex differences, religious differences, all these get us nowhere but patriotism could.

Hmm, I remember envying Lagos and Lagosians back in the '80s when i was growing up in primary school. Incidentally, the first year i went to lagos was also the first year i went to Abj. 1991. I remember prefering Lagos since obviously Abj was just being born then. But now Mchw!

Anyways, let me ask Lagosians this. How many of you had the luxury of being able to wake up at 7 am in the morning, be freshened up,have your breakfast at home, have your parents drop you off at school and your parents still get to work before it's 8 am. Plus you mum comes for at 1pm, takes you home prepare lunch and returns to work before 2 pm.

Well, i got got news for y'all lagosians and this is very true cos i went to a high school that had equal national spread (equal number studenst every year per state in Nigeria) and of course a lot of them lived or grew up in Lagos whether they were from there or not. What am i talking about Well , the swapping of the "h" consonant with vowels. A good example is a very good friend of mine who pronounces 'our house' as 'Hour ouse'. Sorry folks, I am confused about something. Dont we have a wing called Presidential wing at the airport? What exactly is the purpose of this wing? I thought it includes avoiding situations like this. Typical us. We like to rationalize. You think China is harsh to illegal residents?? Try Singapore!! And here's the juicy part. You dont even require a visa to visit singapore. But overstay you visit and see how you get stripped publicly and lashed 90 strokes on ur bottom. Dont rationalize when there's crime commited. Here's some logic. A criminal is one who commits a crime. Is it a crime to be illegally resident in china. Yes. Then that is criminal. Lets not rationalize. Here's what singapore govt says about their (you may say barbaric) laws. "Our laws are very clear,simple and designed to be understood by humans. So if you break our laws, you are subhuman. you are an animal. We will treat you like one" For those drug couriers, they should be lucky they get caught in china and not singapore where even if you 16, you will be in prison till the day you turn 21 and be eligible for the death penalty. I dont condone their justice methods but i even more strongly condemn commiting a crime when you know the consequences(or are we still in an era where we can claim ignorance, lololololol).

Honestly, Hi5 didnt get to me and neither did myspace nor ringo, tagged etc. But facebook is an entirely different story. I have connected with at least 50 of my high school mates (finished high school in '96) whom i hadnt seen or heard from in those over 10 years. I believe those not in tune with facebook are either unable to use it, think it is the same as Hi5 or are simply not very sociable. But i must warn those who consider this to be an advert.
