Romance / See What Adele Song Has Done To Broken Hearts by Ebrandt: 6:40pm On Nov 11, 2015
What has been the order of the day on twitterNG today is the #HelloChallenge trend. Is it reality that love can never be lost considering the number of years of silence?
The first few lines of the ADELE's number 1 track on the album 25, Hello is what the #HelloChallenge has been about.
"Hello, it's me, I was wondering If after all these years you'd like to meet to go over everything They say that time's supposed to heal, yeah But I ain't done much healing"
However, it turned sour for few of them, some got carried away, some tried it with their mum, whilst some with their bosses.

Nairaland / General / This Young Legend Is Gone Too Soon... by Ebrandt: 11:49am On Oct 27, 2015
When someone you love passes away, there’s a vacuum created by their death. The pain runs deep and the emotions bubble over.
Thirty-year old Samson Oladipo Egbedeyi passed away and will be laid to rest today, the 27th of October.
On this day, that they have to do something no friend should ever have to do, Tomide Makanjuola,
Oluwasanmi Ope-Ogungbo and ‘Tunde
Ademuyiwa have written a tribute to the man they
all fondly referred to as “Niggydip”
We pray for fortitude to bear the loss. Please read
the tribute below:
***
30 years ago, a legend was born! Samson Oladipo
Egbedeyi aka Niggydip. He was the pride of the
Egbedeyi clan.
He lived a tremendously vibrant life. He was
charming, passionate, ambitious, and the life of the
party. Thick dark clouds of sorrow filled our hearts
when the surreal news of his death on Monday,
broke on Tuesday morning.
Niggydip’s wedding next year was meant to be the
biggest party ever, bringing all of us back together,
but death chose to take him away from us. This keeps the questions coming. How? Why? What happened?
What would the world be without Niggydip? These
and many other questions flooded the minds of
many with no answers, leaving us with pain, grief and the guilt of what we could have done if we knew he would leave so soon. These questions disturb us but Niggydip would not allow it eat us up, so he left with us memories that transcends time.
Niggydip had an amiable mien. Back in school at the
Faculty of Engineering Unilag, Niggydip had a unique connection to several. He did not care how “cool” we were, how smart or not we were, what we had or did not have. He was the loved in every clique.
Niggydip taught us, inspired us, saved us, loved us,
listened to us, defended us, protected us and made
us laugh. Dipo wasn’t a clown, but he knew exactly
what to say, what to do to get people out of their
misery.
Dipo had his stories. We called them dodo. Dodo
because they were just so improbable that we
sometimes can’t help but doubt them. At the same
time, we knew that if there’s one person in the whole world that can be the subject of those stories, it’sNiggydip.
Niggydip had an extraordinary capacity to care for
others. Niggydip is that guy that while stuck in traffic, notices a danfo filled with sad looking faces, calls a boy hawking gala, and buys gala for all the
passengers. He is the guy whose phone got snatched in traffic, jumps out of the car, runs after the thief, and starts shouting “Egbon e ma binu”, he hails the guy until he got his phone back.
He is the guy who when asked for direction, allowed
strangers in his car, drove them to the event they
were heading to, and partied with them. In Lagos! He is the guy one meets once, and one never forgets.
You can hardly find Niggydip sad. We all have our low moments but he never showed his. I guess he was just too busy helping others fix theirs.
His drive powered by his impeccable confidence was next to none. It is amazing how he could be so
confident without being cocky. He saw opportunities
everywhere. Unlike most of us, he went after them.
Niggydip is the person that showed up at an interview he was not even shortlisted for, and leaves with the job in his pocket. He was very successful, I mean very successful. He had an amazing career at Oando. At work, he was such a performer. Doubled well as a team leader and team player, he made work fun.
He is the guy that showed up at a company end-of-
the-year-event in a complete Iron Man costume.
And he upped the ante the year after showing up as
Fela Anikulapo Kuti, complete with the dancers and
the saxophone.
Niggydip was the guy with the world at his feet, who
at 30, was already a legend.
We can’t even claim to comprehend what his family is going through right now. We watched Niggydip’s dad gently rub his hands on his pictures. It was heartbreaking. Praz (Funsho) has somehow managed to keep it together, but only on the surface. Dayo has consoled some of us, when we could not keep the tears from flowing. Keji, your only sister, must be devastated. We shared Niggydip’s stories with his mom. For a moment, her spirit appeared lifted. Our thoughts are with Seye. We know Niggydip loved her. We pray that somehow, God grants his family the fortitude to bear this loss and the strength to move on.
We will continue to talk about Niggydip for the rest of our lives. Niggydip achieved in 30 years, what mostwill not in 80. Because of that, we celebrate his life.
Even as we celebrate, we mourn for today, for a year, for as long as it takes. We also know Niggydip is looking down from heaven, with a smile on his face, willing us to focus on being the best representation of ourselves and move on. So we will try, as we continue to share his stories, and as we continue tobe inspired by them.
Heaven has called upon you Oladipo Samson
Egbedeyi, leaving so many words left to say. Now it is too late, for your time has come, words unspoken; we are sure everybody has some. Regrets and wishes are probably there too, but lasting forever are memories of you. However, henceforth we shall choose to speak of you in present tense as you remain forever in our hearts.
Forever in our hearts is not just a cliché for us. It is a creed we know everyone who ever knew him will
keep.

I think it has to do with respect, and respect most times comes with achievement. Quite rarely, it comes with personality. In Oliseh's case, he's not achieve anything as a coach yet, so it'll be hard getting the respect of the big boys with that. But with the right attitude and personality, he can. If he can treat the big boys as colleagues and teammates, while being firm at it, he can earn their respect. He will also need to explain his game tactics to them, giving them reasons as to why he needs them to do what he wants. Also he need to keep getting results. This is good for team confidence and the boys will respect him more with each good result. Its not easy, but it's possible.

Mikel has started playing his best games already, under Oliseh.
That's affirmative. Good one!
Nairaland / General / Osun State Government Versus State Lecturers Again? by Ebrandt: 1:45pm On Oct 21, 2015
Osun State Government has sued lecturers of the four state-owned Polytechnics and Colleges Of Education to the Industrial Court.

The state government stated that the body, under which the Lecturers operate, the Council Of Academic Staff Unions of Tertiary Institutions (CASUOSTI) is not registered.

The South West Zonal Chapter of the Academic Staff Unions of Polytechnics (ASUP ), however, said that the government over the years, had consulted with the body to take some decisions.

While rising from the Southwest Zonal meeting ‎held in Iree, Osun State, spokesperson for the ASUP, Biola Akinkugbe, said that the court summon served by the Osun State Government is only meant to intimidate the workers, who are demanding for payment of their nine months salaries and other deductions of their emoluments.

But in a swift reaction, counsel to the Osun State Government, Wale Afolabi, said that the government cannot continue to hold talks with the lecturers under the unregistered CASUOSTI, maintaining that the only option opened to the lecturers is to go back to work before any negotiation can commence.

Meanwhile, students of the four state-owned tertiary institutions in Osun State took to the streets protesting the nine months closure of their institutions on October 12.

The students trooped out in large numbers and embarked on a walk to the Osun State House of Assembly and the government secretariat to register their grievances. They also sought to know why the lecturers and the government were yet to resolve the crisis holding back the reopening of their schools.

I think emenike is not mentally tough enough. He's the same player who left the pitch and asked to be substituted cos his fans booed him. His coach had to order him to get back into the pitch. The same reason he's quitting the national team.
Well, he should enjoy his retirement. We have a certain Gbolahan Salami.
Thank you for your opinion.
I think I would agree with you on this premise. I think there is some pinch of arrogance in him as well. If at all he would quit, make it official, inform your coach and find good reports to back it not the useless one he posted on instagram.
but sir, do you think Oliseh is getting it right (if at all he's been), do you think he would get the necessary grip on this so-called "big boys"?
Sports / Do You Think Oliseh Is A Bad Luck And Scaring Players Away? by Ebrandt: 1:01pm On Oct 21, 2015
Super Eagles Head Coach, Sunday Oliseh has expressed shock over the resignation of Nigerian international, Emmanuel Emenkie.
The on-loan Fenerbache player on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 announced his retirement from international football, after a barren spell in front of goal.
Oliseh who reacted to the news, said: ‘’It’s a big surprise and shock to all of us to hear of his resignation.”
While dismissing speculations that the coach might drop the player from the Eagles squad for next month’s World Cup qualifier against Swaziland because he has not scored for the Eagles for two years, Oliseh said: ‘’Eh, Come on! You know me better than that. There is no water to that story and it did not emanate from me. I’ve not spoken to anybody(Journalist) concerning the team. I was surprised when I read the story attributed to me. Immediately, I called him but he did not pick his call and the Team’s scribe Dayo Enebi Acho also called him without success.”
“I’m shocked and surprised. We had no issues and he had played four times since I took over the team. He’s a great player”, Oliseh added.
In your own opinion, do you think he's got the capability to handle and keep these guys?
WHO WOULD BE THE NEXT?

Sports / See What Gary Neville And Jose Mourinho Share In Common by Ebrandt: 10:16am On Oct 21, 2015
Reports are out claiming that Manchester United legend Gary Neville says Bastian Schweinsteiger was led around “like a dog” by Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla.

Schweinsteiger was given the run-around by Cazorla as the Gunners raced into a 3-0 lead at the Emirates before closing out the Emirates clash for a comfortable win.

Neville told Sky Sports: “Against Arsenal, for some reason, and I don’t know why, it was like, has Schweinsteiger gone rogue?

“But the more you watch the clips back, you think it must have been a tactic. In this game they got concerned about Cazorla. And Cazorla, he had him on a lead. It was like a man with a ball saying to a dog ‘come to get it off me, come to get it off me’, and as soon as he gets near him, he throws it off to Mertesacker.

“It’s like ‘Come on, Come on Doggie’ He’s toying with him, Cazorla.”
Is it not possible one likens those kinds to MOUTH DIARRHOEA?

Sports / Hector Bellerin has Just Been Declared The Best Right Full Back In The Epl by Ebrandt: 9:53am On Oct 21, 2015
What a star he is becoming. Way back in 2013 he first came onto my radar as someone who could make the step up from talented kid to potential first choice right back. Since then, he has come on leaps and bounds and has now established himself as not only Arsenal’s best right back, but the best right back in the league.

It is little more than a year on from his full debut against Borussia Dortmund where he looked shaky and out of place, to say the least. Last night he was the best full back on the pitch.

Yes, Douglas Costa gave him a few problems and did made him look a fool once, but that happens when you are playing up against someone with a bag of tricks. The importance is that after he does you once, you do not let him do you again. And for most of the game, Bellerin had Costa in his pocket. So much so that Costa swapped wings in the second half.

This season, with us playing Ramsey at right wing, Bellerin has had a big task on his hands. Both defending and basically being our right winger. And he has done well.

The last few seconds of yesterday’s game sums up his season. His ability to get forward at pace, beat the opposing full back, and put in a good cross is an asset to have. He did it against Watford as well. He is a talent.

I jokingly said that yesterday showed his naivety. In the last few minutes, winning 1-0, our right back is bombing forward and putting a cross in, rather than either sitting back so we don’t get exposed, or running for the corner. Obviously I was jesting (and got some abuse), what he did yesterday was class. To have that pace left at the end of the game and energy to get his head up and play the ball shows his brilliance. Just remember though, if he does it again, plays a poor cross, and the opponents go up the other end of the field and score, do not criticise Bellerin. You can not celebrate yesterdays brilliance then moan if it go’s wrong.

Hector Bellerin is secure as Arsenal’s first choice right back. Debuchy will leave this summer. If he continues in his current form, he will be starting for Spain at Euro 2016.

Nairaland / General / Osun Suspends Workers’ Overtime Allowance by Ebrandt: 9:05am On Oct 21, 2015
The Osun State government has suspended the payment of 25 percent to 35 percent overtime allowance workers of some government agencies. This is to ensure regular payment of salaries, according to the Head of Service, Olayinka Owoeye. Owoeye said the “I AM ALIVE” verification for pensioners will now take place bi- monthly to check leakages. Owoeye was quoted as saying that “in line with the Universal Basic Education policy of the Federal Government, the local governments shall assume responsibility for payment of salaries and allowances of teachers in the middle schools, with effect from October consequent upon which the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) shall only be responsible for the provision of schools infrastructure.”

Speaking through the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Human Resources and Capacity Building, Sunday Olajide, the HoS, however, clarified that “only teachers deployed to remote towns and villages would enjoy any form of extra allowance”. He added that the government would open talks with the leadership of medical unions to negotiate a new salary regime as “the one in use is no more in consonant with present day financial reality in the state”.

Owoeye announced that his office would begin to collate names of officers in the core civil service and local government service with certificates in agriculture, medical sciences and education for immediate redeployment to relevant agencies. He added that promotion of officers in the public service will now be based on performance and productivity. The HoS said: “To improve the quality of education, the government has approved the establishment of the Teachers Establishment Office, which would be responsible for the appointment, promotion, discipline and administration of salaries and allowances of elementary and middle school teachers with district offices across the state.

Owoeye clarified that the Teachers Establishments and Pensions Office (TEPO) has been re-designed as Education Officers Establishments Office with the management of teachers pensions returned to the State Bureau of Public Service Pensions. According to him: “To complement the efforts of the recently concluded screening and verification, the Offices of the Auditors-General for the state and Local Governments have been mandated to verify the payrolls of the workforce two weeks before salary computation monthly. “The conduct of the ‘I AM ALIVE’ exercise for pensioners will now take place bi-monthly to check pension leakages. Governor Rauf Aregbesola has also directed that some measures aimed at coping with the current challenges of acute shortage of public fund be implemented immediately.”
