Seun: They will have to learn to use SQL directly before they can be hired..Permit me to say that SQL has become a tradition in programming field but ORM has come to make work easier for we developers. it makes your code elegant, clean and short. ORM has changed the standards in the level of programming. I can use sql very well but fansy ORM as a faster, easier and cleaner way of querying the database. |

DEADLY clashes between the Boko Haram sect and security forces last week have displaced an estimated 90,000 people in Damaturu, Yobe State, an emergency official said on Wednesday. Also on Wednesday, President Goodluck Jonathan met with the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Abuja, at the end of which he promised to do more to tackle terrorism in the country. “We have, at the moment, an estimated 90,000 displaced people from the Damaturu violence,” said Ibrahim Farinloye, North-East coordinator for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA). "Around 40,000 of this figure is from the Pompomari area, where the whole neighbourhood has been deserted. Some of the displaced have lost their homes, while others just fled for their safety.” Farinloye said “we advised the displaced against moving into any temporary camp for security reasons. Therefore, most of them are sheltering in the homes of friends and relatives in the city and neighbouring villages.” Heavy violence broke out in the Yobe State capital last week, with Boko Haram members carrying out attacks followed by a military crackdown. A rights group and police source said up to 100 people were feared dead in the face-off. Trucks and armoured vehicles carrying soldiers had arrived in the Pompomari neighbourhood and residents were given 30 minutes to leave. The neighbourhood was later cordoned off. Further violence broke out in Damaturu on Christmas Day, when two explosions went off, including a suicide attack targeting a military convoy in front of the state security building. The Christmas Day bombing was among a wave of attacks in the country blamed on Boko Haram that killed 40 people, the deadliest being an explosion outside a church at Madalla near the capital, Abuja, as services were ending. The North-East has long been rocked by violence blamed on Boko Haram, but attacks are intensifying. The bombing of churches on Christmas Day has also sparked fears of renewed sectarian clashes. Nigerian leaders have sought to calm tensions since the attacks, urging Christians not to retaliate. Nigeria, Africa's most populous nation and one of the largest oil producers with 160 million people, is roughly divided between a mainly Muslim North and predominantly Christian South. In the wake of the clashes and Christmas Day attacks in Damaturu, hundreds of residents could be seen seeking to flee the city, waiting by the roadside or at depots for taxis or buses. The city centre was largely deserted and tense, while soldiers armed with rifles patrolled. Boko Haram was long based in the northeastern state of Borno, which borders Yobe, but it has carried out a series of attacks in Yobe in recent weeks. In early November, coordinated attacks in Damaturu left an estimated 150 people dead. Violence has also hit the nearby city of Potiskum. Nigerian authorities have been unable to stop the violence despite crackdowns and claims of arrests of Boko Haram members. Also, in the aftermath of bomb blasts that rocked some churches in the country on Christmas day, President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, on Wednesday, blamed the Federal Government for the incessant bomb blasts, saying that the government had demonstrated lack of political will to curb the excesses of the Islamic sect, Boko Haram. He said this when he led a delegation of the association to commisserate with the church. He said the attack on churches by the Islamic fundamentalists must be stopped, otherwise Christians would be compelled to defend themselves in any way they could. He said: “As president of Christian Association of Nigeria, I will not encourage Christians to revenge, but Christians should protect themselves any way you can. Why should anybody come and kill you in your house. Protect your place of worship, protect your property. It is very important”. The CAN President specifically urged the government to wake to its responsibility of protecting the life and property of citizens in the country. He said: “We see this as pure madness. Normal people don’t behave like this. Even animals have value for each other, not to talk of human beings. We condemn it completely. We want to pray to God that this will be the last. This is our prayer. This is our desire.” |
