This can't be true unless it's something new. Visa restrictions hasn't affected Nigeria on spousal/fiancee visas to the best of my knowledge.

I'm based in the US and filed for my fiancee in May 2022. Yes, there was backlogs in the immigration process that delayed her visa for almost 3 years. She eventually got her immigrant (K1) visa in August 2025 and has joined me here in October.

We just got married here last month (November) and have already started the process of adjustment of status so she can get her green card and begin the path to being a US citizen.

It wasn't her alone that got visas, she belongs to a whatshap group where they all discuss about their immigration process and most of them I have spoken to got their visas between July and August that we were monitoring it and they are already in the US - some of them showed up at our wedding last month from different states with their spouses.

So, saying there's visa restrictions on immigrant visas from Nigeria is not correct at all. You are probably doing something wrong somewhere. If you earn enough/ have an affidavit of support from someone, paid your taxes and provided evidence, strong proof that y'all communicated and the relationship is real - like bank statements showing you sent her money multiple times, phone records, whatshap chats records, many pictures together etc, most likely she should have gotten her visa and joined you.

US ain't that dumb to make people pay for immigrant visas and suddenly no one gets a visa. People migrate here on a daily basis.

18 months? Are you saying they haven't issued her an appointment date for her interview yet or she got denied?

If she got denied, it may be due to insufficient evidence. If she hasn't gotten her appointment date yet, it's a matter of patience. There are sites you can track the status online and you can gauge when hers will come.

I do hope US Lagos consulate is kind and reschedules Jan interviews for Dec 2025 for immigrant visas.

For those who have options of residency in countries that are not on the travel ban, you might want to consider relocation.

Travel bans are typically reviewed every180 days, the last travel ban proclamation was in June 2025.

People awaiting thier immigrant visa interview have been indefinitely postponed/ halted due to the recent ban ??

The visa on you passport is valid for a year from the time you entered the US. It stands as a temp green card. Check the small details at the bottom you'll see some writing there


You don't need to wait for your green card to do stuff.

I’m not sure about the delivery option , but you can send someone to pickup on your behalf.

They’d hand you a form , na that form you go fill give the person wey go pick am up for you.

Picked up passport yesterday at OiS yesterday.

So, I did my road test about 3 weeks ago and mistakenly failed at the last step. The examiner wasn't in the car with me, she put a 2 way camera on my dashboard, one pointing to the road and the other inside the car. All she had to do was call my phone to give me directions on where to go and what to do. I had an adult with a driver's license sit on the passenger side with me without talking to me or making any hand gestures. That's the rule.

I had already completed the test, as I was about to enter the office building where the test began, unfortunately, I drove through the sign that says "do not enter" I drove through it because it was not properly placed. I appealed but they refused.

Yesterday, I went again for the test at a different location and passed it despite several mistakes. This time around the examiner sat with me in the car and he was very lenient with his judgement and acessment.

I didn't drive in Nigeria, I just recently started learning to drive about a month ago in the US here, so you can understand how excited I am to pass it. I know a guy who's driven in Nigeria for years yet failed the road test twice. On one occasion he didn't even get to get on the road because he ran over the cones while attempting parallel parking and reverse bay parking.
