anthing is possible in a football game, Barca was writen off prior to last night comeback against Milan but they made courtesy of a Messi's brace nd one each from Villa and Alba.. The Gunners are facing same fate as they take on bayern in Allianz arena as they look to over turn a 3-1 defecit.. I think its going to be hard to do since they lack a player in the ranks of Messi to do the job.. But nothing is impossible in football.. |
Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has said he may be forced to drop AFCON star Sunday Mba if his transfer saga rages on. Top Nigeria league clubs Warri Wolves and Rangers are at tug of war over the ownership of one of the biggest revelations of the recent Nations Cup in South Africa. Last week, a committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) asked the two clubs to reach an agreement on the player within a week. And now Keshi has warned that he may axe the player if his club future is not sorted out soon. ”I may be forced to drop Mba from the team if his transfer issues are not sorted out. If by our next game, they have not resolved the problem I may not invite him,” Keshi said . The Eagles handler also explained that he was forced to call up as many as 15 foreign-based pros for the Kenya match because the local league has just kicked off. ”I invited 15 foreign- based players because the Nigeria league is just starting,” he disclosed. ”The foreign-based players have been regular at their clubs and as such their fitness level is very high. Most of our local boys are rusty but we see how it goes in our training camp.''

Ex-Nigeria star Nwankwo Kanu has lost N1.4 billion (about $104m) and a top executive of his hotel has been arrested and charged to court. Managing director of Hardley Suites Hotel in Lagos, Ayoola Gam Ikon, 49, has been arrested and charged to court for the alleged fraud. Operatives of the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit arrested Ikon, the managing director of Hardley Suites Limited situated at Waziri Ibrahim Crescent, off Elsie Femi Pearse Street, Victoria Island, Lagos southwest Nigeria, for allegedly stealing the N1.4 billion belonging to the hotel owned by Kanu. Also arrested along with him over the alleged fraud is a hotel staff, Oke Samuel. They were arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate’s court on a 19-count charge of felony to wit, obtaining money under false pretence. The police alleged in charge suit No. K/8/2013 that Ikon was arrested following a complaint by the management of Hardley Suites Limited, Nwankwo Kanu and Ogbonna Kanu, that Ikon between 2005 and 2012 allegedly defrauded them of the sum of about N1.4 billion on the pretence of using the money to expand the existing facilities of the hotel by constructing and furnishing of additional blocks of 30 suites and conference facilities. But he allegedly failed to use the money for the purpose and allegedly converted the money to his personal use. He was also alleged to have forged a special resolution purportedly made by the board of directors of Hardley Suites Limited to obtain loans of N187 million, N50 million and N493 million from Skye Bank Plc without authorization. The offences, the accused allegedly committed, according to the prosecutor A.M. Animashaun, contravenes sections 8 (a) 1 (a) of the advanced fee fraud and other fraud related offences Act 2006 as applicable in LagosState. The accused pleaded not guilty to all the charges. The prosecutor presented before the court an application for the remand of the accused persons in prison custody pending advice from the office of the directorate of public prosecution, DPP, because the lower court lacks the jurisdiction to try the matter. But the Chief Magistrate, O.O. Oshin overruled him with legal facts after quoting copiously from several sections of the criminal justice administration laws of LagosState to buttress her claim that the court has the jurisdiction to hear and admit the accused to bail. She admitted the first defendant to bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum. One of the sureties must be the defendant himself, the other should be a civil servant on level 16. She also admitted the second defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like sum. One of the sureties must be a level 16 civil servant while the other must be working with a reputable company. She adjourned the matter till April 4 for mention. However, the defendants were moved to Ikoyi Prison, Lagos pending when they would fulfill the bail conditions. www.vanguardngr.com/2013/03/kanu-defrauded-n1-4bn/ |

Gay rights campaigners including the Federation of Gay Games, the European Gay and Lesbian Sport Federation said they had written to FIFA president Sepp Blatter about the alleged ban. www.vanguardngr.com/2013/03/fifa-queries-nff-over-ban-on-lesbianism/ |
ABAKALIKI-A nine year old boy, Master Chinedu Nwangwu of Echara community in Ezza South Local government area of Ebonyi state was weekend electrocuted when he tried to pluck fruits from a Cashew tree in the area. Vanguard gathered that the victim, a pupil of Echara community primary school in Ezza South LGA who lost his life on the fateful day, climbed a cashew tree without knowing that one of the branches of the tree was resting on a high tension wire that supplied electricity to the community. Lamenting over the incident, mother of the deceased, Mrs. Nwangwu who was filled with pains when she saw the lifeless body of her son, stated that similar incident also led to the demise of one of her sons. As the family of the deceased are still battling with the loss of their son, Mrs. Nwangwu attributed the incident to the activities of some spiritual forces that were beyond her control. “I should blame my God for allowing me to live in the land of the living without my son. It is not up to three years I lost one of my boys to motor accident and today again, it is another calamity; wouldn’t it be better if I cease to live as life is becoming useless without my children” She lamented. One of the teachers of Echara community primary school who spoke with our correspondent, attributed the misfortune that befell the family of the deceased to lack of proper home training adding that if the boy was well tutored by his parents he wouldn’t have climbed the cashew tree in the first place. According to the teacher, the school authority had earlier directed the pupils not to climb any tree or pluck any fruits in the school without the consent of the school authority. Sources close to the family revealed the deceased boy had since been buried. www.vanguardngr.com/2013/03/9-year-old-boy-electrocuted-in-ebonyi/ |

A six- year- old girl, Edidiong Etok Akpan, who was subjected to a harrowing treatment by her father, Edet Etok Akpan, was rescued after she had been locked up in a room with her hands tied and mouth covered with a piece of cloth for five days. Edidiong said her 42-year-old father started beating her on Tuesday,19th of February, after one Prophetess Endurance, the pastor of the church they attend, told “my father that I was a witch and I was the one making him not to progress in life”. She said after the severe beatings, which, according to her, lasted for two days, on Thursday, 21st February, her father tied her hands with a cord and covered her mouth with a piece of cloth and “locked me in the inner room of our house and he never gave me food and never allowed me to go to school ”. The girl, who said she attends Femos Nursery and Primary School, located at 24 Etyin Abasi Street, Calabar, was dying after days without food or water when luck came her way on Sunday, 23rd February, at about 11 am, as another child who lives in the same with her family came to their veranda, looked through the window and saw Edidiong bound on the floor and screamed. “The girl called her parents and neighbours to come and see Edidiong tied like a goat inside their house”, Mr James Ibor of the Basic Rights Counsel, a child rights advocate lawyer, who was called to the scene, said. Ibor said that when the neighbours saw the girl in that state, one of them called him and he, in turn, informed the officer in charge of legal matters at the Cross River State Police Command headquarters, Superintendent George, and they both drove to the place. “As we were going there, we also informed the police at Efuk, Mbukpa to join us.When we got there, we saw a crowd outside and we knew that, that was the place and we went in and carried out the rescue by breaking the door”. He said the girl was “very weak because she had been without food for days and so we had to give her water first, then, after about ten minutes, we gave her milk before solid food an hour later”. Ibor said the father and mother had locked up the girl in the inner room of their two- room apartment and went to church in the hope that by the time they came back, the girl may have died. “God saved her and she is now living with her grandmother in another part of town,”the lawyer said. DSP John Umoh, Cross River State Police Command spokesman, said the father, from Akwa Ibom State, had been arrested and would soon appear in court to answer charges of felony. “To tie a small girl hand and mouth and lock her in a room for days without food is a grievious offence; he (the father) will soon appear in court”, Umor added. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/03/child-witch-saga-father-tortures-6-yr-old-daughter-for-five-days/ |

As Nigerians wait with bated breathe to know the fate of injured strikers Emmanuel Emenike and Victor Moses for Sunday’s AFCON final, coach Stephen Keshi has said he will wait on the duo till the last minute. Nigeria face against Burkina Faso for the continental title in Johannesburg and are sweating over the fitness of the two forwards, who between them have accounted for six of the team’s 10 goals at this tournament. “I will wait till the last minute and by Sunday we will know whether the boys will play or not, any other opinion is unacceptable,” maintained Keshi. “I can understand the apprehension of the public over the two players, but we must be a little patient because I know that the two of them want to play in the final and the medical team is working round the clock.” Information Nigeria gathered that Spartak Moscow striker Emenike suffered a hamstring injury which could keep him out of action for at least two weeks. It is also speculated that Keshi could take a big gamble on his power playing forward who has been clinical in front of goal throughout the tournament. Write get well soon if u believe its possible..

halida Akhtar, a 20-year-old Taliban suicide bomber, decided at the last minute not to blow herself up at the main train station in the capitol of Pakistan because she remembered that she would have to deal with a bunch of virgin guys in heaven, local authorities say Ms. Akhtar, who was dressed in a head-to-toe burqa and strapped with explosives, was seen just hours ago running and screaming through the Islamabad Railway Station before she was apprehended by local law enforcement. “The young woman realized that she would have 72 virgins on her hands if she sacrificed her earthly life, and apparently the thought made her so sick to her stomach that she decided on the spot to pull the plug on the whole operation and give herself up to the authorities,” police officer Malik Rashid told reporters. In a statement recorded by arresting officers, Ms. Akhtar explained her decision. “I’d actually never stopped before to think about the reward I would receive for my sacrifice,” Ms. Khalida said. “Unlike my brother and his friends, I’m actually not a fan of virgins. To be fair, I don’t think any woman in the world is. I’m supposed to give my life for a bunch of guys that don’t know anything about the female body or how to please a woman? I don’t think so!” Khalida added. As she was taken into custody, Khalida Akhtar also reportedly told officers that she would have gladly sacrificed herself for higher causes if she could trade those 72 virgins for two experienced guys, a masseuse, a butler, and a chef.. |
