I used a suitable laptop type charger, together with a built in buck converter.

I assume you connected the charger directly to battery? This will cause most adapter to blow out, or enter protection mode (for more quality power adapters).

To safely / properly charge your battery, you will have to find a way to do away with the excess voltage and there are different method to do this.. if interested I could give further notes on this but I guess I have already answered your question.

After I delivered it to him and he saw it could power his self-con, he suddenly wanted a more permanent place to install it—and still be able to take it on the go if needed. (Lol, man being insatiable! )

So, I had to come up with both a manual and a very simple automatic changeover solution to that problem (which, honestly, could’ve been built into the system itself).

I tried it with a brand new 75ah car battery and the weld spark was poor.

Same thing when I used my 3s lithium pack, or must the connection be firm?

the connection need to be very firm,and on the manual it is recommended not to exceed 45ah battery and not to add extra wire to it

You need a very good 45ah car battery to work, brand new battery if possible, works very well than my previous portable spot welder

i talk am, i cant be wrong, because these xps are for extreme performances with higher configurations. that is a nvidia GT 525m graphics card. the dell xps uses two graphics card, intel and nvidia. but the nvidia graphics driver and control panel has not been installed yet. so its only seeing the standard intel hd 3000.

Yes nw, some laptops has two switchable graphics, Normally one dedicated graphics card and the standard intel hd graphics, with a switchable controller whereby the graphics will switch automatically by itself, for example if you doing a high demanding task on your laptop, that requires much graphics, like playing games, your laptop will switch to use that dedicated Amd R7 graphics. but if you are doing less tasks that doesn't involve graphics, like microsoft word, internet, it would be using that standard intel hd graphics Hd5500.
