Nigeria camp in disarray as players protest unpaid bonuses ahead of crunch Guinea game
Super Eagles players boycotted Tuesday’s pre-match conference and could boycott Tuesday evening’s training Nigeria’s preparation for Wednesday’s Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) tie with Guinea suffered a setback as a bonus row took centre stage.
The Super Eagles laboured to a hard-fought win over Burundi in their first game and could earn a ticket to the Round of 16 should they triumph over the National Elephants in Alexandria.
However, Gernot Rohr’s men went on to complain about their unpaid bills.
Ahmed Musa failed to show up for Tuesday’s pre-match conference ahead of the Guinea match, but the Al-Nassr player preferred to stay back with his colleagues for a ‘crucial’ player’s meeting at the Helnan Palestine Hotel.
"The player showed solidarity and had to stay back for an important meeting,” said coach Rohr when quizzed by the media.
Unpaid bonuses are not new in Nigerian football. First, it was the Nigeria U20 team who embarked on a sit-in protest and refused to leave Poland after their elimination from the Fifa U20 World Cup in Russia.
Recently, the Nigeria women’s senior national team, which was kicked out of the Women’s World Cup in France, declined to leave their hotel until all outstanding bonuses were paid – a claim the NFF denied, insisting Thomas Dennerby’s ladies were not owed.
Goal reached out to a top source of the country’s football house in Egypt and has been assured that the players would be settled before they take on Paul Put’s team at the Alexandria Stadium.

Lionessza6: And Nigeria is a free country with less than 1% of her people controlling their oil together with shell companies ( foreigners ) right? . 10 billionaires and 70 % of extremely loud and poverty stricken people , is that the freedom you guys are enjoying over there? . Your middle class is rejecting the freedom and bailing out , even seeking asylum papers in other countries, what a joke lol. I told you guys to first work on eradicating mental slavery before working on anything else . no white controls our oil well. we do our things ourselves. of all billniares representing your country in the top 50 all are whites. well I don't expect you to know the meaning of freedom cause you haven't gotten any. just keep praying. help shall come. |

Problemkid1: Did they kill any soldier. They're finding a way to run. We're dealing with them seriously! At least they're not in our capital. But they're in the village or forest. Unlike yours that Alshabaab and Somalians are planning to take over your shitthol capital. Get common sense, boy? leave those people. they know the truth but they're trying to hide from it. their attacks are always at their capital yet they are making a noise |

Yobeezy: I told you to be used to arguing with facts, don't just open your mouth, you were denying nyayo isn't a posh, I've proved it to you and you're still crying here. Mark you, Nyayo estate which is giving you sleepless nights isn't even among the top 20 luxurious estates in Kenya, it's just the largest and the cleanest estate in east Africa. Kenya has a variety of beautiful and luxurious posh estates with some like Karen being featured among the top ten luxury home in the world, that's why you'll see rich folks from US, UK,south Africa and Nigeria establishing their footprints to buy homes in Karen.
Meanwhile this is Runda estate. this is what cossano has been saying. these buildings are for whites alone. Kenyans can't afford them. |
