The Movement Adebayo for President (MAP) has urged Nigerians to scrutinise presidential candidates ahead of the 2027 general election, presenting the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Adewole Adebayo, as an alternative with a policy framework focused on poverty reduction, national security and economic development. The group made its position known in a statement titled “Choosing Between President Tinubu and Citizen Adebayo: A Social Democratic Manifesto That Signposts National Redemption,” in which it highlighted the SDP candidate’s manifesto, Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity. MAP also criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over his reported decision not to participate directly in the APC's presidential campaign tour, arguing that candidates should engage with voters and explain their policy proposals. According to the group, the President's reported decision to concentrate on governance while the APC Presidential Campaign Council campaigns on his behalf raises questions about direct engagement between presidential candidates and the electorate. MAP further urged APC governors and party leaders to prioritise national interests in their political calculations, expressing concern over the country's economic and security challenges. The group, however, said Nigerians should look beyond political affiliations and assess candidates based on their policy proposals, governing philosophy and plans for addressing the country's development needs. Adebayo's Manifesto Targets Poverty, Insecurity Highlighting Adebayo's policy document, MAP described Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity as a comprehensive blueprint for addressing Nigeria's socioeconomic challenges. The group said the manifesto outlines a development agenda built around 12 priority areas: national security, food security, electricity, affordable energy, jobs and enterprise, education and skills development, healthcare, modern infrastructure, innovation, transparent government, national unity and Nigeria's international relations. According to MAP, the document provides proposed strategies for moving Nigeria from poverty to prosperity, strengthening national security and improving citizens' access to essential services. The group said the manifesto also incorporates a four-year delivery framework intended to establish measurable targets and track progress throughout a potential Adebayo administration. First 100 Days: Proposed Governance Reforms MAP said Adebayo's proposed first 100 days in office would focus on establishing institutional mechanisms for monitoring government performance and identifying priority areas for intervention. Among the proposed measures are the establishment of a Presidential Delivery and Performance Office, directives to ministries, departments and agencies on implementing the objectives of Chapter II of the Constitution, and baseline assessments of the security, power, food, health, education and infrastructure sectors. The framework also proposes transparency measures for public procurement and expenditure, federal-state delivery agreements and the publication of a presidential performance dashboard. The group said these measures are intended to strengthen accountability and provide Nigerians with a mechanism for tracking government performance. Focus on Jobs, Agriculture, Power and Infrastructure For the first year, MAP said Adebayo's proposed priorities would include improving security, stabilising essential services, expanding agricultural production, strengthening domestic energy supply and initiating priority electricity and transport projects. The plan also proposes youth skills development and employment programmes as part of efforts to expand economic opportunities. For years two and three, the manifesto envisages expanding industrial clusters and infrastructure projects, improving electricity distribution, and investing in irrigation, food storage and processing, pharmaceutical production, technology, manufacturing, rail transportation, broadband, housing and water supply. The fourth year would focus on completing priority projects, strengthening successful programmes through permanent institutions, publishing audited performance reports and presenting Nigerians with an end-of-term scorecard. MAP said the framework was designed to establish clear implementation priorities and provide a basis for evaluating government performance. Constitution, Social Democracy at the Centre The group also highlighted the constitutional and ideological foundations of Adebayo's proposed administration, including social democracy, cooperative federalism, evidence-based governance, public-private sector collaboration and citizen participation. It said Chapter II of the 1999 Constitution, which contains the Fundamental Objectives and Directive Principles of State Policy, would serve as a central reference point for the proposed governance approach. MAP further identified transparency, accountability and the provision of basic necessities as key components of the manifesto. The group maintained that the proposals offered a framework for addressing Nigeria's development challenges, while urging voters to examine the details of the manifesto and compare the policy commitments of presidential candidates ahead of the election. MAP Calls for Support MAP called on Nigerians interested in Adebayo's proposed development agenda to obtain copies of the manifesto and engage with its policy proposals. The group said the document could be requested through farewell2poverty@gmail.com. It also urged citizens to participate in the political process and assess candidates based on their proposed solutions to the country's economic, security and governance challenges. The statement was signed by the Movement Adebayo for President (MAP), which describes its campaign slogan as “The Roadmap to a New Nigeria.” https://blueprint.ng/2027-group-reveals-adebayo-s-plans-for-nigeria-if/

The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewale Adebayo, has called for the immediate release of five men reportedly detained in Borno State over their opposition to President Bola Tinubu’s administration. The men, identified as Ba’ana Grema, Mustapha Abba, Abacha Mohammed Ali, Adam Umar Gubio and Abdulhamid Mohammed, are reportedly being held in a correctional facility in the state. Adebayo made the demand in a statement issued by the Movement Adebayo for President (MAP), describing the detention as unjust and a violation of democratic freedoms. He called on the Borno State Government, the police and the Federal Government to respect citizens’ rights to peaceful political expression. The SDP candidate said citizens should be allowed to criticise government policies and express dissatisfaction with elected leaders without fear of intimidation or punishment. He argued that wearing T-shirts bearing the inscription “Tinubu Must Go” was not, in itself, evidence of criminal conduct. Adebayo also expressed concern over what he described as attempts by the APC-led government in Borno State to suppress dissent. According to him, the information provided by his movement did not indicate that the five men engaged in violent conduct. He urged the relevant authorities to review the circumstances surrounding their detention and ensure that their constitutional rights were respected. Adebayo also called on the Nigeria Police Force to remain neutral during political activities ahead of the 2026/2027 campaign season. He said the police should protect all political parties and citizens, regardless of their political opinions, and avoid actions that could be interpreted as intimidation of opposition groups. “Democracy suffers where democratic freedoms are abridged and stifled,” he said, urging Nigerians and political stakeholders to defend the right to peaceful dissent. The SDP candidate added that the country’s commitment to democracy must go beyond party loyalty and include equal protection of the law for all citizens. He reiterated his movement’s commitment to addressing poverty, insecurity and oppression, calling for a Nigeria where citizens could freely express their political views. The statement ended with a demand for the immediate release of the five detainees. https://www.signalng.com/tinubu-must-go-protest-adebayo-calls-for-release-of-five-detainees/

The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr Aminu Maida, has called for sustained investment in Nigeria’s telecommunications sector to expand network infrastructure and improve the quality of connectivity for existing users. Maida made the call while delivering the welcome remarks at the maiden edition of the NCC’s Nigeria Digital Connectivity Investment Forum. According to a statement shared by Johannes Tobi Wojuola, Media Adviser to the EVC, on his X handle, the NCC chief executive said the Nigerian Communications Act 2003 recognises the importance of investment and assigns the Commission the responsibility of facilitating investment in the communications sector. Maida said connectivity has become increasingly important to Nigeria’s economy, noting that demand for telecommunications services has continued to rise significantly over the years. He disclosed that Nigerians consumed approximately 1.66 million terabytes of data in July 2026, compared with 1.13 million terabytes recorded in July 2025. The figures, he said, represented an increase of almost 47 per cent in data consumption within one year. The NCC boss said the sharp increase in data usage underscored the need for continued investment in telecommunications infrastructure to ensure that networks can accommodate growing demand. “For Nigeria to keep pace, we must continue to sustain investments both to expand networks and to improve the experience of people already connected,” Maida said. He stressed that investment in digital connectivity remains critical to supporting Nigeria’s evolving digital economy, as individuals, businesses and public institutions increasingly depend on reliable telecommunications services. The Nigeria Digital Connectivity Investment Forum was convened by the NCC as a platform to deepen conversations around investment opportunities and the development of Nigeria’s digital connectivity infrastructure. Maida’s remarks also highlighted the role of the regulatory environment in creating conditions that can attract and sustain investment in the telecommunications sector. https://www.arewareportersng.com/ncc-moves-to-deepen-investment-in-nigerias-digital-connectivity/

The Chairman of the Abia State Disability Commission, Dr. David Anyaele, has assured Deaf women in the state of continued government support through empowerment, employment, education and other programmes aimed at improving their welfare and livelihoods. Dr. Anyaele gave the assurance when he received the South East Deaf Women Association (SEOWA) and representatives of the Abia State Deaf Elders on a courtesy visit to his office at the Government House, Umuahia, on Friday. He said Deaf persons remained an important part of the disability community and assured the delegation that the Commission would continue to work with them to identify opportunities that could improve their livelihoods and enable them to contribute to the socio-economic development of the state. The Chairman disclosed that His Excellency, Dr. Alex C. Otti OFR the Executive Governor of Abia State is deliberate in his commitment to improving the quality of lives of persons with disabilities. This is evident in several Deaf women that had been recruited into the state government workforce, stressing that qualified persons with disabilities would continue to be considered for available employment opportunities. He also said Deaf persons had benefited from government interventions for persons with disabilities, including support provided by the wife of our Governor, Her Excellency, Lady Priscilla C. Otti, adding that the Commission would continue to ensure that Deaf persons were included in relevant government programmes. Dr. Anyaele further disclosed that Abia has a secondary school for Deaf students, which he said would be progressively improved, including the provision of hostel facilities for male and female students. He also said the Commission was interested in promoting greater awareness of issues affecting Deaf persons. On sign-language interpretation, the Chairman said the Commission was seeking to recruit qualified sign-language interpreters to strengthen its services, urging qualified persons in the state to make themselves available. Earlier in her address, the South East Zonal Women Leader of SEOWA, Mrs. Maria Chidimma Alufo-Ekpo, said the delegation came to discuss challenges affecting Deaf persons in Abia, particularly women and children, and to explore areas of collaboration with the Commission. Alufo-Ekpo appealed for greater inclusion of Deaf women in government-supported livelihood programmes, particularly agriculture, small businesses and other areas of economic empowerment, saying such opportunities would help improve their independence and wellbeing. She also sought the Chairman’s intervention in efforts to restore peace and unity within the Deaf community in Abia, saying divisions arising from internal disagreements could undermine the progress and public image of Deaf persons in the state. https://www.arewareportersng.com/anyaele-assures-south-east-deaf-women-of-support-for-inclusion-empowerment/

Raising The Bar Beyond Darts, Propaganda And Vitriols To Issues, Policies And A Workable Manifesto. WEEK ONE (August 19 - August 26th). In consonance with the Timetable guiding the 2027 Electoral Protocol The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC scheduled August 19 as the start of campaigns across the nation, and interestingly the fireworks are here. The first week of Campaigns was generally engaging with Atiku throwing a lethal shot at the lead economic policy of the incumbent, yes he threw a shot at the REMOVAL OF SUBSIDY and boldly said that he will re-introduce the Subsidy Regime and has struggled to explain how and why he will do so. I hear he is now backing down on that for reasons I do not know. I hope he isn't. I pray that all the Candidates understand that 2027 is definitely going to be different, way different from 2023. The people, we, shall and will interrogate every promise and policy programmatic that Politicians throw at us. We aren't going to suffer fools gladly, not anymore... No more!!! Candidates must go beyond naming their Campaign Team and Council, they must hire Clear headed Consultants and Ideologues on every serious issue of State because we are going to drill and interrogate them. THE ECONOMY HAS COME OFF THE BEND, I WILL SAVE MONEY, STATES ARE GETTING MORE MONEY NOW, WE ARE FIGHTING TERROR, WE SHALL GROW THE ECONOMY, I WILL FIGHT CORRUPTION, I SHALL TACKLE WASTAGE, I SHALL FIX THE ENERGY/POWER PROBLEM, I SHALL IMPROVE OUR INFRASTRUCTURE, I SHALL ATTEND TO HEALTHCARE AND EDUCATION etc are the common political promise of incumbents and their opponents... BUT this time the Hows, and the Whys shall be hotly debated, we shall interrogate them without let or hinder. If you like think say na 2023 we dey, una go stammer tire. The High Office of the President is not a Tea Party, and no one will be allowed to gaslight Nigerians and indeed the electorate no more. I have been in the eye of the storm for the past 6 weeks (particularly with the Obidients) for demanding that all the Candidates present a fullproof, watertight, workable and progressive Manifesto heading to the 2027 General Elections. I have criticised all the Candidates particularly the three frontline candidates for not doing an awesome job of that in 2023. And stating without equivocation that that in the present is the minimum. Rather than address the issues, the Obidients chose to call me names, the Supporters of the President took the part of my recent media engagements that serves their purpose, the Atiku Camp did the same, whereas the Supporters of Mr Peter Gregory Obi who ironically came under the least of my fire, descended on me, some wrote horribly unresearched articles about my position, some called me ignorant not even knowing my correct name, not even spelling my surname correctly, and that defines how intellectually lazy some supporters can be. BUT 2027 will not be the same as 2023, if you can't do your homework very well, and cannot get Consultants to advise and teach you, then quit the race, because Nigerians aren't listening to craps no more, we go challenge una tire. SAVING MONEY IS NOT A CAMPAIGN POLICY ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, IT IS A LAZY PLAY IN POPULISM. NATIONS PRIDE IN PRUDENT SPENDING TO DRIVE GROWTH AND PROGRESS. YOU DO NOT CLOSE SHOP BECAUSE THERE ARE THIEVES IN THE HOOD ELSE YOUR CHILDREN WILL DIE OF HUNGER. THERE IS NO WAY THE NIGERIAN ECONOMY WILL TRULY COME OFF THE BEND WITHOUT A KIND OF SUBSIDY FOR THE SINGULAR PRODUCT OR COMMODITY THAT AFFECTS THE GREATEST NUMBER. WITHOUT SECURITY ALMOST EVERY PROMISE OF GOVERNMENT IS AKIN TO THE WAIT FOR GODOT. SO STOP LYING TO THE PEOPLE, FIX NATIONAL SECURITY AND THE MARCH TO NATIONAL SURVIVAL WOULD HAVE BEGUN. The above positions are rock-solid, ironclad and incontrovertible. Those who have jumped in the fray defending the Fuel Subsidy as removed by the incumbent are at best Voodoo Economist, and I am here challenging them to a debate, a no-holds-barred debate on it. And those like Peter Gregory Obi, who says he will retain the Removal of Fuel Subsidy but ensure accountability (he said that much at the NBA Conference in Port Harcourt) must tell us how the economy will grow where most small scale businesses have closed shop because of the crazy cost of doing business NO THANKS to the astronomical cost of power and fuel. Those who have attempted to make the SAVING OF MONEY in the face of Olympic infrastructural deficit, in the face of massive structural decay, collapse of medicare, mediocre educational facility, utter joblessness and horrendous poverty, a major solution to the Nigerian problem are being smart by half. Nigeria needs a brave and a responsible leader who will spend our resources wisely NOT one who will lock it up in the Bank whilst the people suffer. We do not Want a PROFLIGATE King nor do we want a STINGY/FRUGAL Prince, we want a Leader who can DRIVE GROWTH AND PROGRESS through prudent spending... A Leader with the temerity to MASSIVELY, ALBEIT PRUDENTLY FUND GROWTH AND PROGRESS, and also save for the rainy day. Not one who will close shop because there are thieves in the hood. And let no one deceive you, there shall be no hiding place for banal and blank political debauchery, deceit and delusional inveigle. Nigerians are WOKE. Go and do your homework before you make us promises, because we go call una out, and for the want of valid defense for the positions you avow, una go call us names tire!!! BUT IT CERTAINLY SHALL NOT DETER US... We shall brutally interrogate each and every position you trade on the soapbox. I assure you, IT IS COUNTRYFIRST. I repeat no one can gaslight Nigerians anymore. Has Atiku truly backpedaled on the debate on FUEL SUBSIDY TO BE RETURNED, RETAINED OR RE-DEFINED? And, WHETHER THE REMOVAL OF SUBSIDY IS THE PRODUCT OF LEGISLATION DITTO THE PETROLEUM INDUSTRY ACT OR NOT, SHOULD LAWS THAT ENGENDER HUNGER AND POVERTY NOT BE REVIEWED? Has Atiku Abubakar chosen to play the Ostrich on account of the largely spontaneous reaction from and by partisans and mob economists? I hope not. But if he has, Nigerians, the COUNTRYFIRST Movement, Statesmen and Patriots alike shall make the debate one of the linchpins of the 2027 Campaigns. We no go tire, until the wellbeing of the masses become the summum bonum and the Trust of the Campaigns. Don't think that you can tell us just anything, or make us outlandish campaign promises this season... You shall be sitting on a long thing if you try that. WEEK TWO... Loading!!! God Bless Nigeria. The Abia State Disability Commission has demanded the deliberate and comprehensive inclusion of women and girls with disabilities in the implementation of the newly enacted Abia State Centre for Rehabilitation of Survivors of Rape, Defilement, Domestic Violence and Any Form of Human Trafficking Law, 2026. Chairman of the Commission, Dr. David Anyaele, made the call on Thursday in Umuahia at a one-day stakeholder engagement on strengthening the operationalisation of the law, organised by the African Centre for Human Advancement and Resource Support (CHARS-Africa) with support from the Urgent Action Fund-Africa (UAF-Africa). Dr. Anyaele warned that the existence of a legal framework would not, by itself, guarantee protection for persons with disabilities unless the systems created under the law were deliberately designed to remove physical, communication, and institutional barriers. Drawing attention to the heightened risks faced by this demographic, the Chairman noted that "Women and girls with disabilities face heightened risks of sexual and gender-based violence. Their vulnerability may be compounded by dependence on caregivers, communication barriers, limited privacy, inaccessible reporting mechanisms, social isolation, stigma and reduced capacity to seek immediate assistance." He further stated that "A rehabilitation centre may exist, but if a wheelchair user cannot enter the building, it is not inclusive. If a Deaf survivor cannot communicate because there is no sign language interpreter, justice may be denied," urging stakeholders to examine the law's operational framework through a strict disability-inclusion lens. To actualise this vision, Dr. Anyaele called on the government and relevant stakeholders to ensure that all rehabilitation facilities are physically accessible, information and communication are provided in accessible formats for the blind and those with intellectual disabilities, and personnel are adequately trained on disability inclusion. He also advocated for the meaningful participation of women with disabilities and their representative organisations in the monitoring and implementation of the law, stressing: "The success of this Law should not be measured only by the establishment of structures, but by whether every survivor, with or without disability, can access protection, rehabilitation, justice and support with dignity." The Commission Chairman commended the Abia State Government for establishing a sustainable pathway for the rehabilitation and reintegration of survivors of gender-based violence. He specially appreciated the Wife of the Governor, Lady Priscilla Chidinma Otti, for championing the legislation, while also appreciating the Abia State House of Assembly for passing the Bill and Governor Dr. Alex C. Otti, OFR, for assenting to it. "The message is clear: survivors must not be abandoned, and all hope is not lost,". Earlier in her address, the Executive Director of CHARS-Africa, Barrister Amaka Biachi, revealed a significant awareness gap surrounding the new legislation, disclosing that only about five per cent of stakeholders engaged during preliminary consultations were aware of the law's existence. She described this revelation as an indication of the magnitude of work required to translate the legislation from a legal document into an effective, survivor-centred system of protection, noting that the real impact of the law would depend on how well its provisions are practically implemented.] The engagement, which brought together representatives of government ministries, departments and agencies, traditional institutions, labour, health and social service providers, civil society organisations and community stakeholders, also provided a platform for discussions on translating the 2026 law from legislation into effective protection and rehabilitation for survivors. https://www.arewareportersng.com/abia-disability-commission-demands-inclusive-implementation-of-new-gbv-law/

The recent approval by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of 27 major federal road projects worth over ₦3.9 trillion across fifteen states once again demonstrates an important truth: transformational infrastructure does not happen by chance. It happens because leaders conceive bold ideas, build consensus around them, and relentlessly lobby until they become national priorities. As I studied the list of approved projects, I could not help but ask one painful question: Where is Taraba’s common infrastructure vision? For over 35 years since the creation of Taraba State, successive political leaders have come and gone. Governors have completed their tenures. Senators have served multiple terms. Members of the House of Representatives have occupied seats in Abuja. Ministers, presidential aides and influential politicians have emerged from the state. Yet, after more than three decades, Taraba still lacks the strategic federal infrastructure that should naturally accompany a state of its size, strategic location and enormous economic potential. Our greatest problem is no longer simply the absence of roads. Our greatest problem is the absence of a shared vision for the infrastructure we should all be fighting for. Across Nigeria today, the Federal Government is undertaking projects that will shape the country’s economy for generations. One of the most ambitious is the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway, a 1,068-kilometre transnational highway currently under construction. Regardless of political affiliation, the project reflects what long-term strategic thinking looks like. The question is simple: What is Taraba’s own strategic infrastructure agenda? Sadly, there appears to be none. Today, nearly one-third of Taraba State remains effectively cut off because there is no permanent bridge linking communities across the River Benue. For well over 300 kilometres, the River Benue passes through Taraba without a single strategic link bridge connecting both sides of the state. This is difficult to comprehend. How can a state blessed with one of Nigeria’s greatest rivers still lack the basic infrastructure required to unite its own people? For over thirty-five years, governments have come and gone without any coordinated effort to secure permanent link bridges at Ibi, Gassol and Lau. These are not ordinary road projects. They are projects that would redefine the geography and economy of Taraba State. They would reconnect communities, reduce travel time, improve security, facilitate commerce, expand agricultural production and integrate markets that have remained isolated for decades. Yet they have never become a united political priority. The neglect extends beyond the river crossings. Virtually every major federal road linking Taraba to neighbouring states is in poor condition. The Mayo Lope–Wukari Road, the longest road corridor within Taraba State, has remained in deplorable condition for years despite serving as a major transport artery across the state. The road leading to the Mambilla Plateau, one of Nigeria’s greatest agricultural, tourism and hydroelectric assets, is still in a sorry state despite repeated promises of rehabilitation. Roads connecting Taraba to Benue, Adamawa, Plateau and Gombe continue to deteriorate, making movement difficult for businesses, farmers and ordinary citizens. Infrastructure should unite a state. In Taraba, inadequate infrastructure continues to divide it. One recent development further illustrates what Taraba has failed to seize. The ongoing reconstruction and dualisation of the Abuja–Lafia–Makurdi Expressway, which is now being extended towards Enugu, presents a rare strategic opportunity. With the Federal Government already investing heavily in this corridor, Taraba’s representatives should have immediately rallied around a complementary proposal: the construction and dualisation of the Makurdi–Jalingo–Numan–Gombe Highway. This is not an unrealistic ambition. It is the logical next phase in creating an east-central transport backbone linking the North Central, North East and South East. Such a corridor would not only ease the movement of goods and people but also unlock enormous agricultural and commercial opportunities across Benue, Taraba, Adamawa and Gombe States. Similarly, the Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe Road has already been awarded for reconstruction and dualisation. Once Gombe is connected through a modern highway, the obvious missing link is the stretch from Gombe through Jalingo to Makurdi. Completing that corridor would finally connect Taraba to Nigeria’s emerging network of high-capacity highways and position the state as a strategic transport hub between the North East and the Middle Belt. Unfortunately, this conversation is hardly taking place. Even more worrying is the silence surrounding the national railway programme. Nigeria’s railway expansion is gradually reshaping transportation across the country. Yet the current railway master plan completely excludes Taraba State. This omission should have united every senator, every member of the House of Representatives, every minister, every political appointee and every stakeholder from Taraba in demanding a review. Instead, there is hardly any coordinated advocacy. It is almost as if Taraba has accepted being left behind. Perhaps the greatest disappointment is that recent political realignments have produced little in terms of strategic infrastructure. Many prominent Taraba politicians have now aligned themselves with the ruling APC at the federal level. Ordinarily, such political alignment should translate into greater negotiating power for the state. Politics should produce dividends beyond appointments. It should produce highways, Bridges, Railways, Major federal investments, Strategic infrastructure. Unfortunately, there is little evidence that this opportunity has been fully utilised. Instead, our politics has become increasingly local. Our National Assembly members proudly commission boreholes, distribute motorcycles, sewing machines, fertilisers and other palliatives, while celebrating relatively small constituency projects. These interventions may provide temporary relief, but they cannot transform the economy of an entire state. History does not remember legislators because they distributed empowerment items. History remembers those who fought for airports, expressways, bridges, railways, dams, universities and other transformative national assets. One major bridge across the River Benue would create more economic value than hundreds of empowerment programmes. One dualised highway would stimulate investment far beyond what countless small constituency projects can ever achieve. One railway line would reshape Taraba’s economy for generations. This is what strategic representation should look like. It is about anticipating opportunities, building alliances across party lines, engaging the Federal Ministry of Works and other relevant agencies, and ensuring that whenever the next phase of national infrastructure projects is conceived, Taraba is not an afterthought but a priority. What Taraba urgently needs is a Common Infrastructure Agenda. It should not matter whether one belongs to the APC, PDP, SDP or any other political party. Every elected representative from Taraba should subscribe to one agreed list of strategic infrastructure projects and pursue them relentlessly until they are delivered. Such an agenda should include: – Construction of permanent link bridges across the River Benue at Ibi, Gassol and Lau. – Reconstruction and dualisation of the Mayo Lope–Wukari Highway. – Construction and dualisation of the Makurdi–Jalingo–Numan–Gombe Highway. – Comprehensive reconstruction of the Mambilla Plateau access road. – Inclusion of Taraba State in the National Railway Master Plan. – Rehabilitation and dualisation of all major federal highways connecting Taraba to neighbouring states. These projects are too important to become campaign promises every four years. They should become the permanent agenda of the state. Taraba possesses enormous agricultural potential, abundant mineral resources, tourism assets, vast grazing lands and one of Nigeria’s richest ecological landscapes. Yet no society can fully unlock its potential without modern infrastructure. Roads determine where industries emerge. Bridges determine where commerce flourishes. Railways determine where investments flow. Infrastructure determines the future. As citizens, we must begin asking different questions. Instead of celebrating another round of palliatives, let us ask: What major federal infrastructure has this administration or this National Assembly delegation secured for Taraba? Instead of applauding another constituency project worth a few hundred million naira, let us ask: What transformational infrastructure are our leaders negotiating for Taraba? Thirty-five years is long enough. Taraba deserves leaders who think beyond the next election and begin planning for the next generation. Because when history is eventually written, it will not ask how many motorcycles, sewing machines or bags of fertiliser were distributed. It will ask one simple question: Who fought for the infrastructure that transformed Taraba State? Gambo is a political analyst and writes from Jalingo. https://www.arewareportersng.com/tarabas-greatest-infrastructure-deficit-is-vision-not-money/

A pro-good governance group has commended Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, for what it described as his administration's remarkable record of infrastructural development, economic transformation and people-centred governance, saying the governor has continued to redefine leadership through visible performance and impactful service delivery. The group, in a statement issued on Friday and signed by its Convener, Chris Mustapha Nwaokobia Jnr., said Governor Oborevwori has proven that genuine leadership is measured by tangible achievements rather than political rhetoric, noting that his administration has steadily earned the confidence of Deltans through purposeful governance. According to the group, the governor's implementation of the MORE Agenda has evolved into a practical blueprint for development, delivering measurable results across infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, youth empowerment and economic growth. It noted that road construction and rehabilitation projects across Delta State's three senatorial districts have transformed transportation, enhanced commercial activities and reconnected communities, describing the projects as clear evidence of an administration committed to inclusive development. The group also applauded the administration's investments in the healthcare sector, saying improved hospitals, upgraded primary healthcare centres and better access to quality medical services have strengthened healthcare delivery across the state. On education, the statement said Governor Oborevwori has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to building the future by investing in school infrastructure while sustaining bursary awards, scholarship programmes, student loan initiatives, skills acquisition schemes and improved funding for state-owned tertiary institutions. "The governor's commitment to education reflects his understanding that the greatest investment any government can make is in its people. His administration is laying a solid foundation for future generations of Deltans," the statement said. The group further praised the administration's economic empowerment programmes for youths, women, entrepreneurs, artisans and small business owners, describing them as strategic initiatives that are expanding opportunities, creating wealth and strengthening the state's economy. It also highlighted Governor Oborevwori's emphasis on youth development through vocational training, entrepreneurship support and skills acquisition programmes, saying the administration has continued to position young people as partners in the development of Delta State. According to the group, women have equally benefited from inclusive policies that promote economic participation, leadership and social welfare, further reinforcing the administration's commitment to equitable development. Describing Governor Oborevwori as a focused, prudent and results-driven leader, the group said his administration has deliberately prioritised performance over politics, allowing completed projects and improved public services to speak louder than political propaganda. "Governor Oborevwori has demonstrated that the most powerful political statement is performance. Across Delta State, roads are being built, schools are being improved, hospitals are receiving attention, businesses are being supported and lives are being positively impacted. These are enduring achievements that cannot be ignored," the statement added. The group also commended the governor's unwavering commitment to security through sustained support for the Delta State Security Trust Fund and security agencies, noting that the collaboration has strengthened public safety and reinforced the confidence of residents and investors alike. It further applauded what it described as the administration's prudent management of public resources, saying Governor Oborevwori has continued to execute impactful developmental projects while maintaining fiscal discipline and placing the interests of the people above every other consideration. The statement also praised the government's interventions in agriculture, rural development and environmental sustainability, describing them as bold steps toward economic diversification, food security and long-term prosperity for the state. The group urged Governor Oborevwori to sustain the current momentum, expressing confidence that his unwavering commitment to good governance, accountability and service delivery would continue to accelerate Delta State's development. It maintained that the governor's legacy is already taking shape through landmark projects, responsive governance and policies that directly improve the lives of ordinary citizens. "Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has shown that transformational leadership is built on vision, discipline and performance. His administration is writing a new chapter in the history of Delta State, and if the present trajectory is sustained, his legacy will stand as one of the most remarkable in the state's democratic journey. The greatest answer to critics is visible development, and Governor Oborevwori continues to provide that answer every day through purposeful governance," the statement added. https://kwararafareporters.com/transforming-delta-state-beyond-the-imagination-of-naysayers-the-sheriff-oborevwori-legacy/

A coalition of stakeholders in Enugu State has declared that the wave of reforms and “unprecedented firsts” introduced by Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah is steadily silencing opposition voices and redefining governance in the state. The group, Concerned Stakeholders for Good Governance, led by its convener, Chris Mustapha Nwaokobia Jnr., said the administration’s performance has left critics with little to hold on to, as visible development continues to spread across the state. Speaking in Enugu, Nwaokobia said opposition politics thrives where governments fail, but noted that the situation in the state has changed due to what he described as bold and impactful leadership. “Opposition feeds on failure — abandoned projects, broken promises, and loss of public trust. But in Enugu today, what the people see are projects, progress, and purposeful leadership. That reality is silencing empty criticisms,” he said. He stressed that since assuming office on May 29, 2023, Governor Mbah has shocked even his critics with the speed and scale of his governance approach, choosing performance over political showmanship. According to him, what sets the administration apart is not just the number of projects, but the fact that many of them are happening for the first time in the history of the state. Among such initiatives, the group highlighted the establishment of a Centre for DNA Forensics and Criminal Investigation, describing it as a major leap in strengthening security and justice delivery. In education, the stakeholders pointed to the ongoing construction of Smart Green Schools in all 260 political wards, describing it as a bold and futuristic intervention. “These are not ordinary schools. They are technology-driven centres designed to prepare our children for the future. This is a revolution in education,” Nwaokobia said. The group also praised the rollout of Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres across the wards, noting that rural communities are now witnessing access to quality healthcare like never before. On infrastructure, it commended the massive road construction and urban renewal projects, which it said are transforming the physical landscape of the state and boosting economic activities. The stakeholders further noted improvements in security through the use of modern technology, including surveillance systems and integrated command centres, which have enhanced safety and investor confidence. Speaking on the economy, the group said the administration is breaking away from overdependence on federal allocations by promoting investment, enterprise, and industrial growth. Agriculture, it added, is being transformed into a viable business through mechanisation and value-chain development. Nwaokobia said the administration has also introduced a new culture of governance where accountability and delivery are paramount. “Today, people are no longer interested in who talks the most. They want to see results, and that is what Governor Mbah is providing,” he said. While acknowledging the role of opposition in democracy, the group insisted that criticism must be rooted in facts, not speculation. According to the stakeholders, the visible impact of governance has raised public expectations, with citizens now demanding speed, efficiency, and excellence from leaders. They maintained that Governor Mbah’s achievements across sectors have not only accelerated development but also changed the political conversation in Enugu State. “The truth is simple: the strongest response to opposition is performance. And in Enugu today, performance is speaking louder than words,” Nwaokobia declared. The group urged continued support for the administration, noting that the ongoing reforms are laying a solid foundation for sustained growth and prosperity in the state. https://peoplesdaily.ng/mbahs-many-firsts-silencing-opposition-in-enugu-group/

A pro democracy group, Ebonyi Citizens for change, has decried the Ebonyi state governor attacks on the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike. They described it as unwarranted and an attempt to unnecessarily drag the Minister into Ebonyi politics. The group said the statements made by the governor are uncalled for, disrespectful, and immature. They said the governor's outburst are tantamount to a call to arm against the FCT Minister. It would be recalled that during a rally, Governor Nwifuru had alleged that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, is planning to flip the state to the opposition PDP. The governor noted that Wike had said the state is his for the taking with the permission of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. But in its reaction, the pressure group with members in Nigeria and beyond said the governor was merely expressing the fears of an impending loss at the upcoming general election of 2027. They noted that Nwifuru is agitated by his rejection by citizens of the state for his lack of performance. They noted further that Wike is not from Ebonyi state and would not be voting there. The group said that instead of owning up to his failure, Nwifuru is seeking a scapegoat to blame when he loses at the polls. A spokesman of the group said, "Nwifuru is panicking. He knows that if elections are to hold today, he would lose. So he is setting the stage and dragging the names of Wike and President Tinubu into the matter. How can Tinubu, who is the head of his party, dash the state to another party? It is inconceivable and illogical. In any case, Wike did not tell Nwifuru not to perform as a governor with the over 500 billion naira he has received since he took over. In Ebonyi today, there are no physical manifestations of developments. Is that the fault of Wike? Nwifuru will lose the election to PDP because people are fed up with him. He has not achieved anything. So, instead of blaming President Tinubu, he should speak for himself." https://authorityngr.com/2026/07/01/stop-blaming-wike-for-your-failure-group-tells-ebonyi-governor/

The Katsina State Government has expressed optimism over the imminent release of former Director of Defence Information, Major General Rabe Abubakar (retd.), and his wife, who were abducted by suspected bandits along the Matazu axis of the state. The government disclosed this in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Bala Salisu Zango, stating that ongoing efforts by security agencies had reached an advanced stage. According to the statement, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda immediately directed security agencies to prioritise the safe rescue of the retired military officer, his wife and other victims currently being held by the abductors. The government revealed that preliminary investigations indicated that the abduction was a deliberate and targeted operation. It stated that evidence gathered so far suggested that the retired general and his wife were monitored and trailed from Kaduna, where they commenced their journey before being kidnapped in Katsina State. “The targeted nature of the crime underscores a worrying shift in the tactics employed by criminal elements operating within the region,” the statement said. The government further noted that the precision with which the operation was carried out pointed to the involvement of organised criminal networks, adding that the discovery was shaping the ongoing rescue strategy. Describing the incident as an attack on citizens who had dedicated their lives to national service, the state government vowed to ensure that those responsible were apprehended and prosecuted. “We are dealing with a targeted operation, which changes the dynamics of our response. “The state is working around the clock, utilising both technology and ground intelligence to close in on the abductors. Our primary goal remains the safe return of the General, his wife and others in similar situations,” the statement quoted officials as saying. The government appealed to members of the public to provide useful information regarding suspicious movements or activities linked to the abduction, noting that such intelligence could assist security agencies in dismantling the criminal network behind the incident. It added that collaboration had been intensified among the Nigerian Army, the Police and other intelligence agencies to ensure a breakthrough without endangering the lives of the victims. According to the statement, security operatives have sustained surveillance operations in the area where the incident occurred, while the government continues to explore all available channels to facilitate the victims’ safe release. The state government reaffirmed its commitment to tackling banditry and other forms of criminality, assuring residents that every available resource was being deployed to secure the freedom of the retired general, his wife and other captives. It urged the family of the retired military officer and the general public to remain calm, expressing confidence that ongoing operations would soon yield positive results. The government also pledged to provide further updates as developments unfold. https://www.arewareportersng.com/prospects-bright-for-release-of-ex-defence-spokesman-wife-katsina-govt/

A good governance advocate, leadership trainer, and publicist, Chris Mustapha Nwaokobia Jnr., has said that Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s administration in Enugu State is beginning to record measurable progress three years after taking office. Nwaokobia, in a statement issued to mark the governor’s third anniversary, noted that the “Tomorrow Is Here” mantra of the administration is gradually being reflected in developments across key sectors of the state’s economy. He said the government has shown commitment to infrastructure development, economic growth, and institutional reforms, adding that these efforts are contributing to improved living conditions for residents. “Three years into the administration, there are visible indicators of progress in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and security. While expectations remain high, the direction of governance suggests a deliberate effort to deliver on campaign promises,” he said. According to him, road construction and urban renewal projects in both urban and rural communities have improved connectivity and supported economic activities, particularly for small businesses and traders. He also highlighted the state government’s focus on education, especially the Smart Green Schools initiative, which he described as an effort to modernise public education and equip students with relevant skills. In the health sector, Nwaokobia commended the ongoing construction of 260 Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres across the state, noting that the initiative could strengthen access to basic healthcare services at the grassroots. He further acknowledged efforts to improve security through increased investment in surveillance systems and coordination among security agencies, which he said has helped create a more stable environment for residents and investors. On the economy, he stated that policies aimed at attracting investment and supporting private sector participation are gradually positioning the state for growth. “The emphasis on agriculture, small-scale enterprise development, and internally generated revenue reflects an attempt to build a more sustainable economic base,” he said. Nwaokobia added that the administration’s focus on rural development and inclusion is helping to extend government presence to previously underserved communities. He, however, noted that challenges remain, particularly within the broader national economic environment, and urged the government to sustain its efforts to ensure that the benefits of development reach more citizens. “The progress recorded so far is encouraging, but there is still a need for consistency and sustained implementation to fully realise the administration’s vision,” he said. He concluded that the coming years would be critical in consolidating the gains already made and deepening reforms across all sectors. https://leadership.ng/mbahs-leadership-redefines-governance-in-enugu-says-nwaokobia/
