Service commanders of the Rivers State Security Council have paid a condolence visit to Governor Nyesom Wike, over the death of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Emmanuel Aguma, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). The service commanders, who were led by the Assistant Comptroller of Nigeria Customs Service, Zone C, Sanusi Umar, comprised of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force, Department of State Service (DSS), Nigeria Police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigerian Immigration Service, Customs and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). Umar described the late attorney general as a reliable and industrious public officer. Benue State Government has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of turning itself to the strike squad and law court of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government following the commission’s alleged untoward actions against perceived opponents of the government. The lawmaker representing Obio/Akpor Constituency I in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon Martins Amaewhule, in fulfilment of his electioneering campaign, has empowered farmers in the constituency with N200,000 each. Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has said Rivers people will resist any attempt by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Federal Government to rig the 2019 elections. Wike said the APC Federal Government has no single project on ground in the state to sell the party’s candidates during the forthcoming elections in 2019. An Abuja high court has ordered the Nigerian Police to suspend arrest and questioning of the Senate President Bukola Saraki over Offa Bank robbery. Some arrested suspects of the bank robbery that led to killings of over 30 people in Offa, Kwara State, earlier this year indicted Saraki as their sponsor. The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, has condemned the freezing of the accounts of Akwa Ibom State and its Buenue State counterpart by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC. Short of withdrawing its earlier statement condemning the invasion of the National Assembly by the Department of State Services (DSS), the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday backed the action, saying it was aimed at frustrating an alleged plot by Senate President Bukola Saraki to stir violence as a ploy to stop his impeachment. Four persons were on Saturday crushed to death by a tanker in Rumuapara community in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
