Nollywood Veteran actor, Patrick Doyle has slammed Grammy award-winning artistes, Burna Boy for disregarding his predecessors in the music industry.

He said that Burna Boy hasn’t done anything great, and that he and others are beneficiaries of the foundation laid by past artistes in the Nigerian music industry.

Taking to his Facebook page, he wrote, “The credit for the feats that appear to be puffing the likes of Burna Boy up have to be properly ascribed to the greats who cleared the thorny paths that have created pathways for his likes to walk through practically effortlessly.

“Burna Boy has not by himself done anything that can be remotely described as great. He and his peers are recipients of the labours of heroes past.”

Patrick Doyle advised other Nigerians artistes to acknowledge their diligent and truly pioneering predecessors who paved the way for them.

"Great artistes like SunnyAde, Fela Anikulapo, Majek Fashek, l k. Dairo and a galaxy of others who paved the way from the 60s to the 2000s. Greatness and great feats don't exist in a vacuum."

The 62 year old then appealed to people not to indulge Burna Boy. "Let us not contribute to the creation of an arrogant and obnoxious monster."

The Delta State Police PRO, DSP Bright Edafe has confirmed that the gay suspects were arrested for attending a gay wedding ceremony, not for cross-dressing.

Recall that the Delta State Police Command recently apprehended 67 individuals at a gay wedding, with some claiming to be cross-dressers.

Many criticized the police for arresting them while popular cross-dressers like Bobrisky, James Brown, and Denrele go scot-free.

Twitter influencer, Daniel Regha joined in questioning the Delta State Police.

He asked, "Until these people are prosecuted, many will continue to emulate. Arresting 100 cross-dressers in Delta is one thing, but why ignore their mentors?"

DSP Bright Edafe provided an explanation stating that the suspects were not arrested for cross-dressing since it is not considered illegal in Nigeria.

He replied, "Daniel, get your facts right, they were not arrested for cross-dressing, they were arrested for conducting and attending a gay wedding ceremony. Bring a part of the law that stipulates punishment for cross-dressing or categorize it as an offense."

Popular Nigerian artist, Temilade Openiyi aka Tems has revealed that she was ready to make the ultimate sacrifice when she decided to establish herself as an R&B artist rather than pursuing Afrobeats.

Tems made a choice to go against the popular trend of Afrobeats in Nigeria's music industry. She prioritized her own message, not caring about conforming or becoming someone specific.

She made this known to American rapper, Kendrick Lamar, in a recent interview for Interview Magazine.

The Grammy-winning artist said, "I was prepared to die. I believed in myself so much that I didn’t really care if I never became anything or anyone. I just wanted to get a message out. I wanted to get my frequency out."

Tems shared that everyone she sought advice from urged het to do Afrobeats saying, "The only way you can do this is Afrobeats. It’s not that your music is bad, it’s just that it doesn’t fit in Nigeria. Nigerians don’t like this."

On Monday, the Delta State Police Command arrested and paraded 67 gay suspects who were allegedly involved in a gay wedding ceremony.

Their actions have faced a lot of condemnation, with many demanding that they be imprisoned.

The police force has also faced criticism for not apprehending well-known cross-dressers, Bobrisky and James Brown prior to this arrest. Many believe that if they’d done so earlier, it would discourage other cross-dressers. Here are some comments:

Around 4:30 a.m. on Monday, police operatives from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) operatives arrested a vandal on Third Mainland Bridge removing metal drain ducts.

The Lagos State Police Command reported that they found four metal drain ducts, spanners, pliers, rope, a screwdriver, and a wheel spanner in his possession.

The 21 year old identified as Ibrahim Ashafa, was caught during their patrol.

CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), has ordered that the suspect be taken to court.

He also instructed the operatives to step up their efforts in apprehending infrastructure vandals.

Recall that last week, the Lagos Police Command's Rapid Response Squad (RRS) apprehended three individuals suspected of cutting off rails on Third Mainland Bridge to sell as scrap.

Chidinma Ekile, popularly known as Miss Kedike, recently revealed that she wished she had switched to gospel music earlier in her career.

Chidinma, the talented winner of Project Fame in 2010, made a significant change in her music career by transitioning from secular music to gospel music in 2021.

This decision was driven by her deep sense of emptiness that she experienced.

In an interview with the Punch, Chidinma however, shared her desire to have made this transition at an earlier stage in her journey.

"I wish I had made the switch earlier. If I had started this earlier, only God knows where I would have been by now. But, at the end of the day, all things worked together for good and at the right time," she said.
