Ok i will do the needful. I asked questions that you are yet to answer let me restate them here. Please answer the questions without bias....

1. I narrated my experience and that is marketing to you? So when others narrate their experiences its not marketing? Please explain the difference.

2. Are you saying that people without first hand experience can come here based on hear say /research and discredit doctors (there were detailed posts discrediting the said doctor) while those that have first hand experiences cannot narrate their experiences with the same doctor (positive or negative)? Why did you not remove those posts?

3. There are similar experience posts why did you not delete them?

You only deleted my experience post i do not know the 2nd post you are talking about. I guess the second one you are talking about is the reply to my experience get your facts right.

justwise:

Feel free to help yourself with that. You have 39 posts and I removed 2 i see as direct/indirect marketing , if you want to delete all your posts because of that then help yourself.

I narrated my experience and that is marketing to you? So when others narrate their experiences its not marketing?

I am sure that you are tech savvy please check the location / IP address of the poster that responded to my post. Its rather unfortunate that you think that I responded to my post. I do not know the person that responded from Adam.

FYI I am not even in Nigeria, Since you have resulted in removing my experience, please remove all my posts cos its obvious you are already biased.

justwise:

You were directly marketing for that doctor in those two specific posts I removed, I left the rest of your posts because they are more of replies to an allegation. I have been following the argument.

@ justwise

If you followed the argument from the beginning you would have understood what led to my last post. Events culminated in me detailing out my experience. Moreover I have seen posts detailing out peoples experience i wonder why mine was flagged as a promotional post and taken down.

Are you saying that people without first hand experience can come here based on hear say /research and discredit doctors while those that have first hand experiences cannot narrate their experiences with the same doctor (positive or negative)?

I suggest you look into your policy/rules and promote a level playing ground.

justwise:
@All

Please can people stop using this thread to indirectly promote/market a particular Dr?

Such post will be gone as soon as I see it.

Based on my experience, most of these things you stated did not happen to me... but anyways it is what it is. Hopefully those that have actually used him will come up and speak about their experiences.

Please can you be kind enough to state your doctors details and cost so that people who are not comfortable with Dr Akere can try him/her . A friend who is due in September is looking for a farrrr cheaper option so the info will be very useful to her.

Thanks

nefertitiram:
I had actually not wanted to get involved in this Dr. Akere discussion, because I have been labelled a bad name here. But if I must, I will.

I put in at least 1 month into looking for a good Chicago package, of which I analysed my result here. If anyone noticed, I intentionally left out Dr. Akere because I didn't want to demarket him here. He is quite popular among Nigerians in chicago, infact the first port of call but upon research, I struck him off my list. Here are my reasons:
1. As they have outrightly put out here, he is not a certified ob/gyn, and as a CS candidate with a history, I don't think I wanted a regular family practitioner to handle my case.

2. I got upset about a few stories I heard from some women on ground here. He collects his payment upfront before 36 weeks and if there are complications beyond his control, he refers the patients to the general hospital where he has no connections to and that's where the relationship ends. Who handles the bills from that end, I do not know. I heard this from two families, they didn't get refunds and when asked about it, he became incommunicado (red flag, greed)
3. Another woman said that if you visit his clinic, he will send out his secretary to you with the bill, if you don't agree and want to negotiate, he doesn't give room for that. It's either $7500 or nothing. (this one put me off totally, where is the compassion required from a doctor?)
4. If he is not available, who handles his patients? I didn't get any response to that. So I skipped
5. I found a doctor who uses his same hospital that charges even less than he does so I didn't dig further because I lost interest totally.
6. All the people that referred me to him kept putting pressure on me to go to him, calling me endlessly asking me to mention their names when I get there. I got the vibes there should be an incentive going to them. Why should I mention your names?
7. I did not come across any CS patient he has performed on. I think he refers the patients to the ob/gyn I met in that his hosp who charges cheaper and pockets the change.

These are just my PERSONAL assumptions based on my research. Anyone that wants to use him can go ahead, but personally, it was a No, No.
In my mind eye, I decided he was having a ball and cashing out from Nigerian women. I want personalised care, which I am totally enjoying right now where I signed up, which is faaaaarrrrr cheaper that what Dr. Akere is charging and I have a team of doctors at my beck and call when my consultant is not available.

Ok, back to lurking/silent mode.

Thank you my sister. Please tell them i hope others will come up and state their experiences with Dr. Akere.

I stated my experience as it was o nothing personal. provided all the information I had but alas someone even called me a marketer. I now understand why many people do not comment.

For someone go to the extent of doubting his license! lol.. the amazing part is she is not even the person he maltreated. Just propagating falsehood on hear say.... I can bet that there is more to that story. Anyways i rest my case.

bbaby84:

I don't think it's proper to tarnish the man's image whatsoever I've heard good things about him though I didn't use him he just delivered my childhood friend's baby last week. If you don't feel comfortable using him then by all means find another option. I was just going to talk about the uk and how it's midwives that usually take deliveries.....
Sometimes, we take things personally. It's good to let people know stuff without shoving it in their faces... its up to them to decide whether they'll still use that doctor or not. And bad experiences come along once in a while...
I might consider him for my third and last sha. .
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by ejisky: 4:12pm On Jun 01, 2015
lol..... your illustration is classic! lwkmd! Thanks a million! There are always two sides to a story. Like you said to every doctor there will be negatives and positive feedback. Mine is/was very very positive and I cannot come here cos someone says he is bad and say he is bad! I have delivered two babies through him and no issues whatsoever. I am pregnant again and I am not considering any other doctor.....

If you do not have enough information please do not come here and start dem say dem say..... there are always two sides to a story. Initially it was that he is not licensed to practise now he is not an obgn! Make una fear God!

Tvegas:

I read the bolded portion of your post and i keep laughing because i imagine the doctor "Packing his stethoscope and running out of the hospital premises because he saw complications and palaver wey pass am" grin grin grin.

I dont know this DR from anywhere o but i can tell you there are 2 sides to a story so we should be careful in passing verdict. Did your friend press charges against him after this misdemeanor? .To every Dr there will always be negative and positive feedback, infact if you follow only the negative reviews on health-grade i swear you may abandon your own doctor or hospital. So let the matter go since @ejisky is cool with him.

Don't be too quick to judge there are always two sides to a story.

dakotchic:
deposit for the service,
2. Became incommunicado after he saw that it was beyond his reach.
3.The person in question had to go. ..

Now that's bad practice! Not because he is a family physician but because he acted as a bad doctor, who doesn't know his limitations and how to be sincere to his patients and when to ask for help!
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by ejisky: 4:57pm On May 31, 2015
Your initial assertion was that he was not even licensed/ qualified at all.... now the issue is the rejoinder? lol please take several seats back and allow US based doctors to educate you its obvious you need it

modath:

This rejoinder is laughable but will not be provoked into giving more details, continue with your home service jack of all trades Dr and his practice that includes obstetrics and child care ....

Every other Dr that has been broadcasted on this thread all have their certification specifically in ob gyn but you are seeing the amebo... abeg have some seats.
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by ejisky: 4:42pm On May 31, 2015
Thank you. I expect more responses.

dakotchic:
Please o mamas, may I come in here. In ideal settings straight forward pregnancy care and delivery do not have to be taken by an Obstetrician, Infact in the UK and Canada, midwives play this role significantly. So it is not illegal or unauthorised for a family physician to take deliveries. Finally a family physician in the US is not a GP as per Nigerian standards where a GP has no postgraduate qualifications. He is a specialist with at least 3 years of postgraduate specialisation.
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by ejisky: 4:39pm On May 31, 2015
When you do not know ask people who know. He is a board certified family physician and his practice includes Obstetrics and Child Care.

It means that he specializes in Obstetrics and Child Care. Contact doctors in US to explain things to you since you are ignorant. US based Doctors in the house please step in

What did you serve. Tarnishing a good mans image?

You said he neglected your friend that was why i brought up that incident that he rushed to my sisters house to deliver my baby to show that he is not as bad as you are painting him to be!

What is your business if i paid or not? Can see you specialise in ameboism.... this matter you are carrying on your head didn't even happen to you. I am sure if i tell you want happened afterwards you will add salt and pepper and start broadcasting it. Sorry you do not qualify...

modath:

He is not a board certified ob gyn, learn to retreat when you have been served!!

You were so special to him that he dropped everything to rush to you at home , undecided you couldn't make it to the hospital abi? And he waived the hospital fees too or did you pay that as well.??

Just leave this matter alone, if you dont.............. lipsrsealed

I am also not ready to get into any arguments with you! My comment is based on my experience.

Please do you have any fact that suggests he is not qualified? Thinking aloud how would he be able to practice in US for close to 20 years if he is not certified?

Like i stated before I had two babies with him and I had a very fantastic experiences. Mind you it was my 2nd baby that I had at home my first was in the hospital.

Anyways its unfortunate that your friend had a nasty experience.

I am not canvassing for patients for him there are so many hospitals and doctors in Chicago so pips please try other options.

modath:
@ejisky,
I'm not going to get into any arguments with you but I'm going stand by what I posted.

The only reason I'm not going to mention the person is cos I don't have permission to bring it to a public forum.

That you had a great experience with him does not mean everyone else did, you said you had your baby at home, this person didn't have that priviledge.

The question is, Is Dr Akere a board certified OB -GYN?? Does he have surgical skills to go on his OWN when its comes to C-sections, myomectomy, hysterectomy et al?

My great aunt delivered babies till the end of her days in my family compound back home; doesn't make her a LICENSED midwife. She also knew better than to keep a not so straightforward case without pulling out fast and sending them to the hospital, so that point is null and void...

You may not have a problem with leaving ob gyns in Nigeria to go to a family medicine practictioner in the US, I and I'm sure a lot of people do...
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by ejisky: 3:15pm On May 31, 2015
Why would he carry out such procedures if he is not licensed? We are talking about the US and not Nigeria...

4teelaw:
Sorry oo, @ejisky

Did he deliver your baby in the house himself? This is serious.
I was going to help you defend the Doc's performing deliveries and CSection as an Family doctor, thinking he had a faculty of Ob/gyns who does the deliveries under his practice. Now you said he delivered your baby himself.

But is he licensed to carry out such procedures, especially CSections? I just remembered that church member had a fibroid removed in St. Francis Hosp in Chicago, she nearly bled to death. I hope it wasn't this same doc o!
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by ejisky: 3:13pm On May 31, 2015
lol me marketer... smh... Google his name, contact him and ask him to send the cost of delivery to you and compare with what i stated. Please make sure you come back here and post your findings.

Hello,

I do not know of any accommodation. My sister stays in Chicago so i didn't have to got through that route. Speak with Dr Akere i hear he has contacts with people that help with accommodation.

[Hi ejisky. I am also a chicago mum using dr akere.
Please can u advise on any good accomodation in chicago preferably close to a mall. I would be going with my mum and toddler. Thanks alot. I am an august mum.

quote author=ejisky post=34222658]I am a 2 time Chicago mum (2011 & 2013) and will be back there in November for my last baby. My first experience at Ohare airport was nasty. I lied when i was obviously showing that I was there on vacation. Had visited about 2 times before then though. The took me to the secondary inspection room after so much investigation canceled the 6 months stay that was initially stamped and changed it to 2 weeks cos that was what i had on my ticket. It was a very traumatic period for me but luckily for me a colleague of mine that also passed through Chicago had the same experience so she told me what to do. I had to look for a lawyer filed for extension and stayed back and had my baby. Luckily for me before i left i received an approval for the extension request.

I reapplied for a visa when i was already pregnant with my second baby; made a down payment of $4,000 to the hospital got a letter from the doctor. During the interview i provided all the evidence and was given a 2 years visa. Got to the POE again in Ohare (2013) and was stopped for further investigations; presented the part payment receipt, bank statement, doctors letter as well as Zero balance receipt from my previous birth and was given a 6 months stay.

Did a drop box last September and got a 2 years renewal. Will be at Ohare once again in November (my immediate younger sister stays in Chicago) hopefully i wont have issues...

I used Dr Akere on both occasions and he is a very cool guy. Just got the estimates from him (Normal - $7,500; CS -$9,000) circumcision -$300. This package is all inclusive no other charges.

Left to me that money belongs to DJ and his next of kins. Diversion of the money for any other purpose will not be fair.... Since his family i.e Parents and Brother are not well to do. I would suggest that the money be used to set them up.

The money isn't so much oooo....When you re-house them, furniture will be needed. If you move them to lets say a 2 bedroom apartment at the rate of 200k per annum and you pay for 3 years that 600k gone than maybe use 300k for the shop thats 900k. If you decide to furnish the apartment for them that will be over 1m. I do not see any change remaining for other purposes.....

Please use the money for ONLY DJs family. The money isn't so much.

I do not think that the option of giving back to people that donated is also right. They gave the money to DJ at their own volition. Why would they want what they have given to a dead man back??

God bless TEHN and God bless Nairalanders.

@ SangoCrusader, please can tell us about the quality of the shell unit you got? Delays in delivery are normal with most estate companies so that's not really an issue for me. I Recently subscribed and all these comments about quality are making me very worried.... Is it bad? Have googled several times but haven't seen any alarming info on Lekki Gardens apart from this thread...

Dear Folake, so sorry about your predicament. I pray that the treatment options you have chosen eradicates the cancer. I understand the pain and stress you are going through. My mum went through same. She had breast cancer... kept it to her self till it was a little too late. Her breasts were removed, she did the chemotherapy and radiotherapy... at UCH but that didnt save her! Since yours is in a treatable stage I pray that God grants you the strength to navigate through this... The symptoms you are having are all associated with the Chemo and radiotherapy. My mum lost all her hair. The hair will grow back after the sessions. Try and be positive and fight this. I know its really hard and you would be asking God why you but you have to put your fighting hat on and fight this.

Please ensure you complete the chemo and radiotherapy sessions.

I would also suggest you post pictures. Pictures speak louder than a 1000 words. The pictures will show nairalander what we are dealing with.

May God bless you; heal you and be with you.

I am so so sad.. may God not allow any of us experience this cancer of a thing. This wicked disease killed my mum. She went through so much pain...we spent so much did all the chemotherapy and radio therapy and when it looked like she was getting better we lost her... Its over 15 years now but the memory is still very fresh! Was hoping and praying for DJDOLA but God knows the best.

You are now in a better place DJDOLA. Rest in peace bro till we meet to part no more! My heart felt condolence to your family...

Have been very worried about a couple of things but this incident just reminded me that vanity upon vanity all is vanity.... Death is inevitable.. God please help us live right and make heaven Amen!

I also support the motion that the remaining money be given to his mum/a small business be established for her. TEHN executives and all Nairalanders you all did a great job...weldone and God bless you all.
