Politics / 3rd June: Lagos Governorship Election Tribunal Okays Lp's Petition: Update by Ekemini11: 1:19pm On Jun 03, 2023 |
The argument so far includes: 1. The validity of the petition, since the petitioner, GRV didn't include his party (Labour Party) in the petition. APC is asking the court to strike out the petition because of this. 2. The validity of Hamzat’s (APC Deputy Governor) nomination being that he has sworn an oath of allegiance. Hamzat voluntarily took a U.S citizenship, and stated so in his INEC form. 3. The candidacy of Sanwo-Olu, as well is on the line here on the case of sworn allegiance. The joint ticket is being contested for disqualification. 4. Others Court in Session: 3rd June, 2023. Proceedings - GRV and LP SAN is making his submission now. - APC Lawyers are contesting the validity of GRV petitioning without the LP party. - The judge is reading a ruling so far. APC request to strike out the petition have been ruled in favour of Labour Party. So the Petition continues. - Right now, there is a lot of back & forth on the direction for filing of documents & evidence for trial - Judges have determined that they will share in their report. - LP San: We are presenting 37 witnesses. - Judge: How many Star witnesses? - LP SAN : 4 witnesses. We ask for 12mins each for star witnesses and 7 mins for the other witnesses to present - Judges: How many days? - LP SAN: on day to day basis, we require 18 days. - Judges: what does the law say? - LP San: The law says 3 weeks, which is 21 days. For the Star witnesses we respectfully request 12 mins each & for the others 7 mins - Judge: 1st respondent INEC - INEC Lawyer: we ask for 15 mins - Judges: you are presenting them for how many days? - INEC lawyer: 5 days - Judge: Court is proposing 1hr 30mins to start from 1:30 and end by 3pm . - Judge: 2nd Respondent - SAnwoOlu Lawyer: Max 30 witnesses. 10 mins for star and regular witnesses. The short time we are taking will be compensated for cross examination. 30 mins for cross examination of Star witnesses of the petitioner and 30 mins of cross examination of other petitioners witnesses and 15 mins for other respondents witnesses. We don’t want to take more than the petitioner. We are asking for 18days of both the second and third respondent. - Judge: 4th respondent - APC lawyer: We are proposing to limit our witnesses to 20, as there is some overlap btw our witnesses of the 2nd and 3rd respondents making it 24 in total. 2 star witnesses, 20 mins each. For cross examination on star witnesses with ask for 20 mins. All others 10 mins. And 3 mins for re-examination. We won’t press beyond 10days. - SanwoOlu Lawyer: my colleague just indicated I missed out the timing for re-examination, I’m pleading for 3 mins if need be. Argument ongoing about playing flash drive and separating the time from the witnesses time Judges have agreed to give 20 mins each for playing if the content of the drive. - Judges: what’s the commitment Kn delivery of court document - GRV SAN: If the court provides direction of time, we will do all we can within the time period. Our agreement is that we should commence hearing within the 3rd week of this month Judge: which date? LP SAN: My lord we have looked at it and suggesting 20th of June subject to the court. Deliberation ongoing !!! All respondents were advised to file all their applications The date for commencement of trial will be decided at the next hearing Next court session: Mon 5th, June 2023 Source: Priscilia Amadi https://twitter.com/PrisciliaAmadi/status/1664938267282755584?t=pwLPKF1Uc-GM8myaEVIZvA&s=19 1 Like

Alright judges are seated again after 10 minutes break Justice Tsammani: What is your application learned silk. SAN Emeka: My application is that I should be permitted based on what we filed so that we do not have a cumbersome file. Justice Tsammani: So do you want to tender. LP SAN Emeka: We want to tender from the bar, the public electoral documents listed EC8As to EC8E. We are now tendering for Rivers State. We have 21 LG my lord. SAN Emeka is now calling out all the 21 LGA we are presenting for in Rivers including Ikwere, Degema and Goaana. Justice Ugo: I don’t envy you at all. I think you underrated the kind of job you have Carried documents like you’re going to Okoko Market. Your documents are scattered. They are too scattered. Justice Bolaji: You need to sit down and arrange your documents each form EC8A should be arranged per LGA not one after the other. Justice Adam: You mentioned only 16 and you said there are 21. SAN Emeka: I am trying to locate it in this document. SAN Kalu: Let’s work with 16. Until we sort this out and out them together. Justice Tsamanni: So 16 LG in Rivers State. SAN Kalu: Yes 16. INEC: My lord, we here by object to all the documents and form EC8As being presented by the petitioners this morning. Tinubu’s Lawyers: My lord we are objecting to all these documents and we would state it to the fullness of this court. APC lawyers: We have gone through the documents and we are objecting to them. We would hereby state our reasons at the time of address. Thank you my lord. So INEC, Tinubu and APC lawyers have all objected to the EC8As presented by LP in this case. SAN Emeka just finished calling out 23 LGA in Benue State and presented form EC8A sheets for them all. SAN Emeka: These are all the documents my lord. INEC: We oppose the presenting of these documents and challenge it. We will file out a written address stating our reasons. Tinubu and Shettima: We object these documents being presented to this honourable court and we will present our reasons in an address. APC: I object to all these documents presented. I shall reserve with reasons which can be canvassed during the address. Justice Tsammani: Documents of form EC8As from 23 LGA in Benue State have now been admitted in as evidence marked as exhibit PC1 and PC2. SAN Emeka: Thank you my Lord, I will now be calling for Cross River State. Justice Tsammani: How many LGA SAN Emeka: 18 my lord. SAN Emeka is now calling the 18 LGA which the form EC8A sheets would be presented from. INEC: We object these documents being received in evidence. Tinubu and Shettima: Most respectfully my lord, we object all these documents and would give out reasons in a written address. Most obliged sir. APC: My lord, we hereby oppose to these documents being tendered and we shall state our reasons in a final address. 1 Like |

Justice Tsammani: Okay let’s go ahead. SAN Kalu: My lord we are ready over here. SAN Kalu: I would like SAN Emeka Opoko to go ahead. SAN Emeka: Thank you for the indulgence my Lord. INEC: My lord, before we go on, the petitioners just served us these papers this morning. They just gave us this documents this morning and we were here yesterday and we didn’t do anything. SAN Emeka: We only gave you as a convenience, we are not enforced to give you. Justice Tsammani: Why dm we have to go over all this again? Justice Bolaji: Is the document stamped, learned silk, which documents are you referring to? INEC: It is not stamped, this is it here. Justice Bello: Then it is not a filed document. There is no problem. LP: That is it, I just gave them documents to help them. INEC: But he cannot just give me this morning. Justice Bolaji: We are not concerned with that, it is not necessary, it’s just a document to help you follow up. SAN Emeka: Oya, give me back the documents, pass it back. Pass it back to me please. Justice Tsammani: Please let’s move on. SAN Emeka: Thank you my Lord. SAN Emeka: My lord, we are starting with Benue State today. I am tendering form EC8A sheets for the 23 LG of Benue State. Justice Tsammani: How many states are you looking at. SAN Emeka: 18 states my lord. Justice Tsammani: Why not submit form EC8A and form EC8B together. SAN Emeka: That is what we are doing. Justice Tsammani: No, you’re doing it one after the other, that’s tiring. SAN Emeka: We are starting with Benue my Lord. Let’s take it one after the other. Right now there is currently an argument on filing of the documents. Justice Tsammani is saying he needs a schedule so that he can follow up on the LG by LG forms being submitted. He has given the courtroom and the LP lawyers 10 minutes recess that they should make a list of how they intend to present the LG by LG forms so they can follow up with hope the case is going on instead of writing the LG one after the other during proceedings and wasting time. 3 Likes |

Here are some of Peter Obi's tweets which reflects his plans about subsidy. You can see, he plans to remove 50% subsidy, while providing alternatives programmes to cushion the effect of the removal. That's the difference between his plan and Tinubu's plan. Tinubu just announced the removal of subsidy without any plan to help people cushion the effect.
