Politics / Federal Government To Re-construct Grazing Reserves - Ogbeh by Elchicolo: 7:37pm On Mar 15, 2019
The Federal Government says it will soon commence the reconstruction of grazing reserves across the country.

Audu Ogbeh, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, said this in Abuja when participants of the Executive Intelligence Management Course Twelve (EIMC12) and Institute for Security Studies, Usma Dam, Bwari, visited him.

A statement by Nakorji Mohammed, the Director of Information at the ministry on Friday, quoted Mr Ogbeh as saying that the reconstruction of the grazing reserves had become necessary due to farmers-herders conflicts.
The minister said the reconstruction was also crucial to the Federal Government to reduce the high unemployment rate in the country.

“The grazing reserves will help in solving these problems.
“We are not going to any state that is not interested and we are not going to collect anyone’s land,’’ the minister assured.

He called on individuals who had the interest and ability to build grazing reserve to do so, adding that the government would support such individual.
Mr Ogbeh called on members of the institute to focus on addressing the security challenges facing the West African region and Africa in general.

The Director of the institute, A.S. Adeleke, represented by the Deputy Director Studies, A.M.Wali, said the purpose of the visit was to commend the country’s achievements in the agriculture sector.

Mr Adeleke also applauded the ministry for its efforts toward curtailing “agro-terrorism” wherebg people hoard farm inputs.

He said the course participants were drawn from 21 agencies in Nigeria.

Other participants, according to Mr Adeleke, were also from Benin Republic, Liberia, Niger and Sierra-Leone consisting of senior officers from the military intelligence and other Federal Government agencies.
Mr Adeleke said the theme of this year’s course is `Transhuman and International Migration: Challenges on Governance, Peace and Sustainable Development in sub-Sahara Africa’. (NAN)

Crime / Again, eighty-five killed in Southern Kaduna communities by Elchicolo: 3:10pm On Mar 13, 2019
Armed herdsmen have reportedly killed at least 85 people during attacks on three communities in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The killings took place in three communities in the southern part of the state from Sunday to Monday.

The communities include Ungwan Barde and Gamu villages in Kajuru Local Government Area and Gerti, Kaninkon Chiefdom in Jama’a Local Government Area all in the southern part of the state.
The attacks in Ungwan Barde occurred on Sunday morning when suspected Fulani herdsmen invaded the community and killed at least 35 people.

However, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Yakubu Sabo, who confirmed the attack on Ungwan Barde in a statement on Monday, said that only 16 persons were killed.
But the former President of the Adara Development Association (ADA), Danladi Yarima, said 35 people were killed in Sunday’s attack on Ungwan Barde.

He also disclosed that the attack on Ungwan Gamu village on Monday left over 46 people dead while about 100 houses were set ablaze by the attackers.
Yarima said two of the corpses, including that of the wife of the pastor of an ECWA church in the village, were recovered in a river.

He said: “We recovered 35 bodies in Ungwan Barde and 46 in Ungwan Gamu. Some people are still missing because they ran into the bush when the Fulani herdsmen invaded the communities. We don’t know whether they are still alive or dead?
“We recovered two corpses in a river including the body of the wife of the pastor of the ECWA church in the village.

“There was massive exodus of women and children from the village as the men evacuated their families to safe zones because the police that were deployed to the community left yesterday (Monday).
“We are calling on the Kaduna State government to do something about the situation to stop the destruction of lives and property.”
At Gerti village in Jama’a Local Government Area, four persons were reported to have been killed in an attack by herdsmen.

The National President of the Kaninkon Development Association, Kolbe Jonathan, said the incident occurred on Sunday. He also said one person was killed on Sunday.
Jonathan added that three others were killed on Monday in an attack during a condolence visit to the family of the person killed the previous day.
However, ADA said in a statement issued in Kaduna yesterday that, “Kajuru land and by extension the Adara nation has been gripped by a fully funded and supported group of terrorists that have been wreaking havoc in our lands for long, while those saddled with the responsibility of securing us deliberately looked the other way.”

The association, in the statement signed by its Assistant National Secretary, Luke Waziri (a lawyer), also called for the release of its leaders arrested during the attack on Ungwan Barde just before the presidential election.
The statement reads in part: “First, Ungwan Barde was attacked on February 10, 2019, and nobody said anything even though those in government knew. Furthermore, the government pretended that the 11 people killed didn’t matter. Then Karamai, another of our communities, was attacked on February 26 with 38 people killed. While the victims were buried in a mass grave and the injured yet to recover, Ungwan Barde village was attacked again on Sunday 10th March; 17 people were killed and dozens of houses burnt.

“The next day, while we were still searching for more bodies, Inkirimi and Dogonnoma villages in Maro were attacked; 52 people were killed and dozens injured. The smoke had barely settled when an attack was launched in the evening at Ungwan Gora (Labi village) with dozens injured and 43 houses burnt. Thousands of households have been displaced now and are moving from one village to the other in search of safety and refuge.

“In all these, not a single person has been arrested, not even questioned. This is despite the fact that all the attacks took place either in the morning or in the evening – in full glare of everyone, the terrorists come in their hundreds, take time to kill and then leave without anyone being caught or apprehended by the security."

Politics / Kano: Two Women Arrested For Buying PVCs At The Disputed Gama Ward by Elchicolo: 2:23pm On Mar 13, 2019
Two women have been arrested in Gama Ward of Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State buying Permanent Voter’s Card, PVCs, ahead of March 23 supplementary election in the state.

Gama Ward election was among the polling area elections cancelled by INEC in the state due to violence or over voting.

Sources at the state police command in Bompai said the two women have so far bought eight PVCs from housewives in the area before their arrest after the police were alerted.

According to the source, the women have confirmed to be agents of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and they were buying up the PVCs ahead of the upcoming supplementary election.

The command is yet to officially speak on the matter.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate, Abba Yusuf, had won the majority votes after polling 1,020,465 votes, against his closest rival, the incumbent governor of the state, Abdullahi Ganduje of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who scored 987,459 votes.

Declaring the result inconclusive, the Returning Officer for Kano State, Bello Shehu, said the cancellation became necessary as the total number of cancelled votes had exceeded the margin between the two leading candidates of PDP and APC.

Crime / Just in: Bandits kill one, abduct three in Katsina by Elchicolo: 12:11pm On Mar 12, 2019
A 6-year-old boy has been reportedly killed while three were abducted in the early hours of today when armed bandits attacked Kankara town, Katsina State.

The incident, which occurred precisely at Malam Adamu’s residence located at Kofar Yamma, Matsiga area of the town, also left another 8-year-old child with bullet wounds.

Our reporter gathered that the two children are members of Adamu’s family.

It was gathered that Adamu was abducted alongside two other girls, reportedly aged between 18-20 years.

Information, which are still sketchy as at press time, showed that the gunmen stormed the area at about 1.30 am, ransacked houses before carting away valuables.

A source told our reporter that, upon reaching Adamu’s house, the bandits tried to take away the children but was resisted by their mother which angered the gunmen to shot and killed one of the children.

“The other only sustained gun wounds and was rushed to the hospital after the attack,” the source added.

Our correspondent was yet to get the police’s confirmation of the incident as at press time.

Politics / Nigeria elections: Atiku Raises Alarm, Berates INEC by Elchicolo: 8:39pm On Mar 11, 2019
Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has condemned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for declaring elections in some states inconclusive.

INEC had announcement postponement of polls in Benue, Sokoto, Adamawa, Rivers and Adamawa, amid accusations that it was a plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) federal government to overturn likely victories of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Reacting, the PDP presidential candidate, warned INEC to be on the part of the people.

He tweeted: “Anti-democratic forces are at work. My counsel to the Independent National Electoral Commission is as follows: Conclude on the side of democracy.

“Conclude on the side of the people. Conclude on the side of the constitution. Conclude o the side of Nigeria.”

Earlier, the PDP advised INEC to end its alleged manipulative schemes and immediately declare the result of the March 9, 2019 governorship elections in affected states.

Kola Ologbondinyan, in a statement, said the development was a premeditated plan by the APC-led Federal Government to use the instrument of INEC and security agencies to truncate the wishes of the people.

The announcement of governorship election results in Bauchi State has been suspended following rejection of the results by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Returning Officer of the local government Mrs Dominion Anosike while presenting the results of the election in the area complained that she was harassed and intimidated by political thugs at collation center to announced doctored results.

Responding, the state Returning Officer Professor Kyari Mohammed said the result from the local government would not be accepted by INEC.

Blueprint reports that results of 16 out of the 20 local governments of the state were announced while those of Darazo, Ganjuwa and Bauchi local governments were pending.

Crime / Ibadan:Police parades18 suspects over alleged robbery, possession of human skull by Elchicolo: 2:32am On Mar 07, 2019
The Oyo State Police Command on Wednesday paraded 18 suspects in connection with alleged armed robbery, impersonation, possession of human skull and hijacking a tanker loaded with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).

Briefing newsmen on Wednesday at the Command’s Headquarters at Eleyele, Ibadan, the Commissioner of Police, Shina Olukolu, said the police also recovered 19 firearms, 24 tricycles, one human skull and a vehicle from the suspects.

The commissioner said that the command mopped up 162 ammunition and 131 cartridges in the state.

He said that the command had not lost sight of its constitutional role of protecting lives and property in spite of the ongoing general elections.

“No society is free of crime and we will continue to deal with the situation as they arise and arrest those involved in crime.

“As we continue to ensure there is peaceful conduct of elections, we will not forget our constitutional role of protecting lives and property.

“We warn those committing crime to desist from such act and remember that crime does not pay,’’ Olukolu said.

According to the commissioner, the police is always ready to give the best and go after criminals as long as the public cooperate with it.

He promised to ensure a peaceful and violence-free Governorship and House of Assembly elections in the state.

NAN reports that among the suspects paraded by the police was a notorious gang which specialised in hijacking truck conveying petroleum products.

The commissioner said that the command was tipped that the gang was sighted on the Ibadan/Lagos Expressway hijacking a tanker loaded with 33,000 litres of petrol (PMS) to their Soka area hideout in Ibadan on March 2 at about 7: 00 a.m.

“Sequel to this information, a team of operatives swung into action and in the process one member of the criminal gang was arrested.

“He confessed that one other member of the gang nicknamed “Action’’ who is still at large brought the product to him.

“The hijacked PMS had been siphoned into 16 drums and 12 kegs while the truck had been taken to an unknown destination,’’ Olukolu said.

He said that the products recovered from the hideout of the suspects had been transferred to Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) office at Dugbe, saying that all the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigation was concluded.

Sports / Russia to deport World Cup Migrants from Nigeria, other countries by Elchicolo: 5:21pm On Mar 06, 2019
In a cramped apartment on the outskirts of Moscow, Lamin has little more than the clothes and the Bible he brought with him when he came to Russia on a temporary World Cup visa last summer.
The 23-year-old Gambian shares the two-bedroom flat with nine other people — the youngest a newborn baby girl, the daughter of a Congolese flatmate.

Like thousands of other Africans, Lamin came to Russia during the 2018 tournament on a “Fan ID” that allowed spectators to bypass the country’s usual visa requirements.

While most came purely to watch the football, others had plans to stay on and find work.

Some believed they could claim asylum in Russia or that the country would be a stepping-stone to life in Europe.

But eight months after the World Cup, their hopes have been dashed and the Russian interior ministry has said it is stepping up measures to deport all over-staying guests by the end of March.

Little hope of asylum
Lamin, an assumed name, said he needed to flee a family conflict in The Gambia because his life was in danger.

A church friend told him Russia would be easy to enter during the period it was hosting the football tournament.

Even so, it wasn’t easy when he arrived.

“I was confused, I had no place to stay, the situation was tough,” he said.

The former management student was eventually helped by a Liberian immigrant who shared food and offered a space in the apartment.

But during a raid in February, police found the Liberian had no valid documents and he was deported.

“I don’t know what I’m going to do next, I’m totally scared,” said Lamin, who has been given temporary leave to stay until the middle of March.

With the help of the Civic Assistance Committee, an organisation that works with refugees in Russia, he has put in an application for permanent asylum.

There is little hope, however, of it being granted. Official figures show that in 2017, Russia gave full refugee status to just 33 people.

Wave of arrivals
The “Fan IDs” were originally valid just for the period of the World Cup, but President Vladimir Putin later announced they could be used for re-entry until the end of 2018.

Last month, interior ministry official Andrei Krayushkin said 12,000 people had stayed on illegally after the end of the year.

But efforts by the security services had so far reduced that number to 5,500, he told a press conference.

Daniel, who has worked with African migrants in Moscow for 10 years but did not want to give his last name nor where he works for fear of repercussions, said the World Cup had brought the biggest wave of arrivals he had ever seen.

“When they get here, they’re stuck. They don’t want to go back, they can’t go forward,” he told AFP.

“Most don’t speak Russian, and without Russian, the chances are very small of finding a job.”

One such immigrant is Solomon, who came during the World Cup to watch Nigeria play — his home side. He already had plans to stay on after the tournament.

At first, the 31-year-old found work as a gardener but is now unemployed.

“In Nigeria, there is no job, no good politics, no good life,” the engineering graduate said.

“I just want to stay here for a little time, so that I am able to work, get some money and go to another place.”

He is “very worried” about the interior ministry’s March deadline, but says he has no plans to leave of his own accord.

Trafficking victims
A few in extreme circumstances have been granted leave to stay beyond March.

Victoria came from Nigeria on a World Cup ticket with plans to study in Russia, but on arrival, the 22-year-old discovered she had been trafficked into prostitution.

A woman came to meet her at the airport, took her back to a flat and told her to take off her clothes.

“She took my passport and my Fan ID,” Victoria said.

After being forced to work as a street prostitute, Victoria got in touch with the anti-trafficking NGO Alternativa and managed to escape.

The organisation has helped her obtain permission to remain until the summer and she has found some work in a shoe repair shop.

“I want to stay in Russia,” she told AFP at the NGO’s central Moscow office.

“Not to stay permanently — I just want to have some money, so that at least when I go back to Nigeria I can start a business.”

But others who were trafficked, like 20-year-old Progress, remain in a state of limbo.

Alternativa is preparing an application for an extension so that “maybe I can stay in Russia,” said the young Nigerian woman, who was also forced into prostitution.

“A lot of the girls who came with me are still working. They are too scared to leave.”

Politics / Imo Guber: Over 7000 bishops, pastors endorse Nwosu - Vanguard by Elchicolo: 8:08pm On Mar 05, 2019
More than seven thousand Pastors including Bishops across the State have adopted the governorship Candidate of Action Alliance, AA, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu as their Candidate for the Saturday, March 9, 2019 governorship election in the State.

A cross-section of more than 7000 Bishops and Pastors in the State who adopted Ugwumba Uche Nwosu of Action Alliance as their governorship Candidate for the March 9 2019 guber election in the State at the Imo International Convention Centre (IICC) Owerri on Tuesday March 5, 2019.

Reports say that they decided to settle for him to enable the State have someone who would sustain the Spiritual, religious and physical legacies of Governor Okorocha.
The men of God had met at the Imo International Convention Centre, IICC, Owerri on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 and looked at the major governorship Candidates in the State and at the end of the day, decided to support the Candidacy of Ugwumba Nwosu, stating that the State cannot at this stage be entrusted into the hands of anyhow person to govern.

Bishop Innocent Erimujor, one of the foremost clergy men in the State, who has been in the ministry for 48years in the State and who spoke on behalf of the Priests and Bishops in attendance said, he began his ministry before the creation of the State and has been around and could talk about every administration that had governed the State both Military and Civilian.

His words “I have become a Priest of God before the creation of Imo State. Right from the time when Imo comprised of Abia and part of Ebonyi States. I also make good to say that I have inherited all administrations in this State till this present one, from Ndubuisi Kanu to one Adekunle Lawal and the one from Okigwe (Ike Nwachukwu) and the rest of them”.

He continued “And since then, I’ve been keeping records and also taken my time to compare their developments and achievements scrupulously. You all know me that I don’t play with my words as long as I am sure that I’m hearing clearly from the Lord. Again I try as much as possible to keep away from the political waters of this State.”

He added “My fellow men of God, I make bold before you all to say that the governor before us here Owelle Rochas Okorocha in his developmental strides have performed credibly more than all the achievements of the rest of them that had governed our dear State. When he came up with the issue of succession, I must candidly say that I was obviously one of his ardent opposition to this”.

He continued “But incidentally, few weeks after, I got an invitation to attend service at the Victory Chapel Government House, just a day to the day of service by the Chaplain, Dr. Bunmi Babs. I wasn’t happy with him but after much ado, I had to abandon my own Service and I saw myself at the Chapel,

“From that time, I was greatly disturbed in the spirit concerning the man Uche Nwosu. The Spirit said, you must go and congratulate him as the future governor of Imo State. It was a war, I had to ask myself what brought me to this Church today?, But then, heaven told me in plain terms that it’s a mandate that I must fulfill. And so, before the end of service, I had to lift up myself from my seat and went to him. My words, I hate you Uche Nwosu but as the Lord mandated me, accept my congratulations as the incoming governor of Imo State.” he stated

His words “Since this is so now and there’s need for continuity in this administration, I think we shall follow the Lord’s bidding. Looking at past administrations, its only this government that has given concern to the down trodden, built Chapels in all the 27 LGAs, sustained free education that it started and the hospitals in all our LGAs, and the CAN Secretariat also in place. I think this is the best thing that has happened to the Christian (orthodox) Churches in the history of this State. Let us therefore not allow those after the treasury of this State to have a reign on it at all. Thank you.”

In his speech earlier, Governor Okorocha said “The State before I came in 2011 was in total darkness, it took God for light to come into the State. Imo people will be foolish to bring back darkness to the State as our Children will never forgive us. In Imo today, we are free, never again shall we return to Egypt. It can only take God to do free education. I remember seeing students been chased out from Catholic Schools, Anglican and Methodist Schools because of School fees, it happened in this land. So Imo people should never allow free education to go”.

According to him “The rescue mission government pulled out this state from hardship and evil deities. I changed Ahiajoku and built Chapels for God all around the State. Ekeukwu market was the headquarters of deities in Imo State and one of my greatest achievements as your governor was the demolition of Ekeukwu. May I announce to you today that Imo is now free”.

He said “I have fought many battles as a governor and most people continue to wonder why the fight. The reason is simply to retrieve the soul of Imo State from the vultures. I have told everybody that has cared to listen that I have the grace of God and anybody that fights me goes down. Look at all the members of the coalition from Madumere to the rest of them, where are they now?”

His words “On Imo governorship, nobody has accused Uche Nwosu of being a fraudster or 419ner, kidnapper, killer or an arrogant man. Nobody is even attacking Nwosu but they are all busy attacking Rochas as if Rochas is running for governor. I am not running for governor and so they should leave me and attack Nwosu who is contesting against them and if they have nothing against him, they should go and sleep and throw in the towel."

Politics / Kano: PDP candidate responds to court ruling, says he is still in the race by Elchicolo: 9:08pm On Mar 04, 2019
Abba Kabir-Yusuf, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Kano State, says he remains the party’s flag bearer in spite of the court ruling that nullified the PDP governorship primary.

Kabir-Yusuf made the claim in a statement signed by his spokesman, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, issued to newsmen in Kano on Monday.NAN reports

He said, “The court ruling today (Monday) does not in any way affect the candidature of Engr. Abba Kabir-Yusuf as the case is against the People Democratic Party (PDP), which we believe that the party has taken the most appropriate action of appeal.

“As far as we are concerned, our campaign activities will continue till Thursday night, March 8 when the deadline of campaigns will elapse as contained in the Electoral Act 2010 as amended.”

According to him, the case had nothing to do with him as the party flag bearer, but an internal issue the party had taken step to resolve.

The governorship candidate urged his teeming supporters to remain calm and continue with the electioneering campaigns to ensure victory for the party on Saturday.
Politics / Adamawa: Ten Governorship candidates endorse PDP to defeat APC - DailyPost by Elchicolo: 7:59pm On Mar 04, 2019
Governorship candidates of 10 political parties in Adamawa State have resolved to work for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to ensure victory for the party in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the candidates announced the decision after a meeting with the Adamawa PDP candidate, Alhaji Umaru Fintiri, on Monday in Yola.

The candidates are Sadiq Khaliel of MRDD, Danjuma Musa of FJP, Naziru Sa’ad of ZLP, Ahmed Hassan of DA and Salihu Danjuma of APM.

Others are Abdullahi Usman of NCP, Bappari Umar of KOWA, Lami Musa of PPN, Elizabeth Isa of CAP and Frank Simon of MEGA party.

The candidates, who took turns to speak at the meeting, said they had decided to partner with the PDP and work for the success of the party and its candidate in the Saturday election.

Isa, the CAP candidate said she decided to shelve her ambition to work with Fintiri because she believed in his vision and that of the PDP.

She described the PDP candidate as a man who matched words with action, as evident in his stewardship when he served as Speaker of Adamawa State House of Assembly and acting governor.

“I go for personality, and Fintiri is a man of vision and integrity,” Isa said.

On his part, KOWA party candidate, Umar, said his party only endorsed Fintiri for the governorship election, but its candidates for the house were still in the race.

“Unlike other parties, our party will mobilise for PDP for governorship only, while our house of assembly candidates are still in the race,” he said.

Speaking on the development, Fintiri lauded the parties for the confidence in him and assured that he would form an all-inclusive government if elected.

Politics / Re: SGF Mustapha confirms NEDC to take off with N55bn by Elchicolo: 3:15pm On Mar 04, 2019
Waiting for SEDC and now North Central is been attacked right left centre, NCDC......and so on...
Politics / SGF Mustapha confirms NEDC to take off with N55bn by Elchicolo: 3:12pm On Mar 04, 2019
Detailing breakdown of the figure, the SGF said the sum of N10 billion was earmarked for the take-off of the NEDC; while N45 billion is the commission's budgetary allocation for the year 2019. "Gen. Paul Tarafa, who hails from Adamawa State, has been appointed to chair the commission," he added.

Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has said that the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) is due to take off with the sum of N55 billion.

At a parley with newsmen in Yola, Sunday night, Boss gave the figures and said "NEDC was created to address developmental challenges occasioned by the negative impact of Boko Haram activities in the North-East".

He said preparations for the commission's take-off were in the final stages, as "the Nigerian Senate is due to approve members of the board of management before the month of March lapses".

Mustapha further said the Buhari-led administration has taken far-reaching steps to ameliorate the suffering of the people of the North-East region ravaged by insurgency.

The steps, according to him, include the construction of dual carriage way from Abuja to Yola, through Gombe and "a standard gauge rail line to link state capitals in the region".

Mustapha also bared his mind on a wide range of issues, including the ruling party's poor performance in Adamawa State in thepresidential and national assembly elections, as well as the raging conflict within the party at the state level.

"I think the APC did not perform woefully as you have asserted. On the contrary we have done very well," he said.

"Don't forget that Atiku Abubakar, the PDP candidate, is from this state; besides, you're talking about an Atiku who has been the Vice President for eight years, with political experience spanning well over 20 years.

"I think it is only proper to commend our performance in Adamawa and to say instead, that Atiku has managed to win his home state with a slim margin of just about 30,000 votes", he said.

Boss therefore expressed confidence that his party, the APC, would retain power in the state, saying: "Let me assure you that feuding parties within our top echelons have closed ranks, and you'll see that at work next Saturday."

Politics / March 9: Armed hoodlums attack SDP candidate, destroy campaign vehicles in Ondo by Elchicolo: 3:59pm On Mar 02, 2019
Hoodlums suspected to be political thugs have attacked the campaign train of the candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Ebenezer Adeniyan, who is contesting for the Akure South Constituency II seat at the Ondo State House of Assembly.

The hoodlums, who were confirmed to be putting on face mask during the incident, were said to have attacked Adeniyan’s campaign train at Oke-Aro area of Akure, the Ondo State capital on Friday evening during the party’s campaign rally to some wards of the town ahead of the 9th March poll.

It was gathered that the suspected hoodlums damaged some vehicles in the campaign train and also shot sporadically to disrupt the activities lined up for the campaign.

According to one of the SDP members on the train of the Adeniyan Campaign Organisation, who confirmed the attack, the hoodlums were all armed with dangerous weapons, including guns and machetes during the attack.

“We were on the tour of two wards in the constituency area. And at the end of the tour, we went to Oke Aro to meet a political friend.

“Unfortunately, on our way back, we made a brief stop at the Abiodun junction to greet some community leaders.

“But as we were about to take our leave, the three masked men came running towards us from the street, and smashed the windscreen of our music truck.

“They shot into one of our branded cars through the windscreen but the courageous people in the area gave them a hot chase.

“Immediately, they flew the area and starting shooting in the air to scare people away and ran away in same direction they came from,” he said.

Reacting to the attack, the SDP candidate, Adeniyan who is also the publisher of “Trace News Magazine” expressed shock at the damages done on his campaign vehicles by the hoodlums, adding that the latest attacks on his campaign train was carried out by members of opposition who were already being threatened by his rising popularity in the constituents.

He, however, stated that the attack has been reported at the B Division Station of the Ondo State Police Command in Akure.

“I was shocked to say the least and there have been lot of attack on my campaign for weeks since we started this electioneering process.

“Our banners are being stolen every day and posters torn everywhere in the Akure metropolis.

“However, I thank God that none of my team was injured and I hope the police in Ondo state will investigate this attack and also get to the root of the matter.”
