Eight new outposts have begun to be established in the South Hebron Hills area, with the approval of the IDF and led by the South Hebron Regional Council and Minister Bezalel Smotrich. This comes after a terror attack at Yehuda Junction outside Hebron in which IDF soldiers Sergeant Major Ron Yonatan Roitman and Sergeant Yuval Shai Soilem were killed.

As part of the decision, six farms have been established, and two more settlements are expected to be established.

Regarding the decision, Minister Smotrich said, "We are continuing the settlement revolution, which includes measures of 'depart from evil,' mass demolition of illegal construction, alongside measures of 'do good,' approval of communities and farms, and the fortification and strengthening of the settlements."

During the attack, three more IDF soldiers were wounded and evacuated to Hadassah Ein Kerem and Shaare Zedek hospitals in Jerusalem—their condition is mild. The two terrorists were eliminated by the deputy battalion commander of the "Ari" battalion and the company commander. A closure was imposed on several villages in the area.

The ongoing Israeli military operation in Hebron has so far displaced 1,500 Palestinians from their homes, according to local reports, with the army said to be planning to order the evacuation of another 2,500 people from their homes.

According to the WAFA news agency, citing Hebron’s governor, the operation has already displaced more than 200 families since yesterday. The Hebron governate has declared a state of emergency in the city and is forming a crisis management committee to assist displaced families, the report says.

Dozens of families were forced to spend last night outside, WAFA adds.

Hebron Mayor Youssef al-Jaabari tells WAFA that Israeli forces are seeking to displace another 2,500 people from two areas in the city.

The operation comes a day after two IDF soldiers were killed in a shooting attack carried out by Palestinian gunmen from the city.

The IDF did not immediately comment on the reported evacuations, but has said that the operation in Hebron is “focused and limited to the area from which the terrorists operated,” and is expected to last several days.

Palestinian residents living in the area where the troops were operating will be able to leave through three designated exit points, following questioning and security checks, the army said yesterday, adding that “anyone who raises suspicion during the checks will be taken for questioning by security forces.”

Hamas has warned Israel that it is prepared to carry out another attack similar to the October 7, 2023, assault wherever an opportunity arises, according to a Ynet report.

The reported threat extended to attacks inside Israel, in the West Bank and abroad. Hamas officials reportedly delivered the message last week during a meeting at the Gaza office of UN humanitarian coordinator Ramiz Alakbarov, asking him to convey it to Israeli authorities.

According to Ynet, Alakbarov passed the warning to Maj. Gen. Yoram Halevy, the coordinator of government activities in the territories, during a meeting on Wednesday. A document outlining the threats was then urgently circulated to senior political and security officials.

Israeli officials reportedly described the warning as unusually explicit and severe.

During their meeting with Alakbarov, Hamas officials reportedly complained about developments they said were weakening the group’s hold on Gaza.

These included continued Israeli military operations, changes to the “yellow line” marking IDF positions, and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’s cancellation of elections scheduled for November 28.

According to Ynet’s account, the Hamas representatives said they were no longer willing to accept the current situation.

The warning comes as Israeli forces continue to target Hamas operatives in Gaza, including commanders and members of the group’s Nukhba unit.

Meanwhile, the Peace Council and international mediators are pressing Hamas to surrender its weapons. Israeli assessments cited by Ynet suggest the group is seeking to draw out negotiations without committing to disarmament.

Israel, for its part, has refused to allow a proposed technocratic governing committee or a Palestinian police force into Gaza, leaving arrangements for the territory’s administration and security unresolved.
