The IDF issues an “urgent warning” to residents of Beirut’s southern suburbs, a Hezbollah stronghold known as the Dahiyeh, ahead of planned strikes against the terror group.

The unprecedented evacuation order marks the first time that the Israeli military has called on wide swaths of the Lebanese capital to evacuate.

Previous evacuation warnings in Beirut have been for specific buildings that the IDF has then struck. The latest order covers four major neighborhoods in the southern suburbs of the city.

“Residents of the neighborhoods of Bourj el-Barajneh and Hadath move east toward Mount Lebanon on the Beirut–Damascus road. Residents of the neighborhoods of Haret Hreik and Shiyyah move north toward Tripoli on the Beirut–Tripoli road, and also east toward Mount Lebanon via the Metn Expressway,” says army spokesman Col. Avichay Adraee.

“Save your lives and evacuate your homes immediately,” he says.

The social media platform X, formerly Twitter, said on Tuesday that it will crack down on AI-generated war footage as fake videos of the war in Iran proliferated online, part of a broader struggle for influence and attention during the conflict.

Nikita Bier, X’s head of product, said the influential platform had identified dozens of accounts that were spreading fake war videos and would halt payments to users posting AI-generated Iran footage.

“During times of war, it is critical that people have access to authentic information on the ground. With today’s AI technologies, it is trivial to create content that can mislead people,” Bier wrote in a post.

Rapidly improving AI technology has allowed members of the public who have little technical experience to create realistic videos and photos to gain attention or spread false narratives about the war.

X users who post “AI-generated videos of an armed conflict,” without stating that the footage was made with AI, will be suspended from the platform’s creator revenue sharing, Bier said. Creator revenue sharing allows eligible users to earn money on X. To earn eligibility, users must have a sizable reach.

The policy will effectively disincentivize users from spreading fake war footage.

If a user violates the AI policy a second time, they will be permanently suspended from earning revenue, Bier said.

X will identify AI content through community notes — a feature that allows users to flag falsehoods — or if the video has other signals of AI, Bier said.

Limiting the policy to users who earn revenue means most X users, who do not earn money on the platform, will not be affected. Bier’s statement also did not mention AI-generated photos, or whether X would lessen the reach of fake footage.

Not all misleading images on the platform are AI-generated, either — some users have posted footage of video games, claiming they are war videos, or have falsely labeled real images that are unrelated to the conflict as coming from Iran.

While X has fewer users than platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and TikTok, X is influential as a news space. Public officials, governmental institutions, news outlets, commentators and reporters share information on the platform, swaying the public discourse.

Fake content related to the Iran conflict has proliferated on the platform since the start of the war this week.

Bier highlighted an AI video, posted by a user identifying as a “journalist from northern Gaza,” that claimed to show an airstrike on Tel Aviv, but was actually generated by AI.

Another account identifying as a Gazan journalist posted another fake video of airstrikes pummeling Tel Aviv that was viewed millions of times.

“We found a guy in Pakistan that was managing 31 accounts posting AI war videos. All were hacked and the usernames were changed on Feb 27 to ‘Iran War Monitor’ or some derivative,” Bier said. “We are getting much faster at detecting this—and also eliminating the incentive to do this.”

He said that the content was not only anti-Israel.

“We did a sweep of ‘IDF Girl’ accounts that were run out of Pakistan,” he said, adding that, in nearly all cases, the users posting fake content were people “looking to game monetization,” piggybacking on the attention surrounding the war, and did not appear to have political motivations.

Other videos showed fake Iranian strikes on Dubai.

Fake photos have also spread, such as AI images claiming to show rescuers recovering the body of Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

Photos of Iranian girls’ bodies, also created by AI, have been shared widely, including by the UN special rapporteur for the Palestinians, Francesca Albanese, and other purportedly legitimate sources, such as journalists and elected officials.

Albanese defended posting the fake image, saying, “The picture is not the issue: the facts are.”

“It could be a painting or a blank image. The point would remain,” she said.

The UN special representative for children and armed conflict, Vanessa Frazier, also defended her use of a misleading image on X.

Frazier posted a photo from months ago showing Iranians who had been killed by the Iranian regime, but said that the image showed the bodies of children killed in strikes on Iranian schools.

“You don’t need to deflect from the horrors of this attack by criticizing a photo! The facts remain,” she said.

Air Force Commander Maj. Gen. Tomer Bar revealed Wednesday evening in a letter to his subordinates about Operation Roaring Lion in Iran that “fighters from the Air Force’s special units are currently carrying out extraordinary missions that could ignite the imagination.” The remark may hint that operatives from the elite Shaldag unit are operating on Iranian soil.

“Already in the opening strike we eliminated senior figures in the political and security leadership of the ayatollah regime, foremost among them Iran’s leader, the murderer Ali Khamenei. With the assistance of precise intelligence and some of the most advanced operational capabilities in the world, we flew over Tehran, striking with force the institutions of the Iranian terror regime and its command-and-control headquarters,” Bar wrote.

“We continue to target the enemy’s fire arrays, infrastructure and strategic capabilities, with the aim of reducing missile and drone barrages, disrupting their launches toward Israel’s home front and defending our civilians," he added. "The intensified pressure is bearing fruit. We are identifying a decline in the scope of fire, cumulative damage to the enemy’s capabilities and increasing erosion of its power. At the same time, our air superiority is consolidating and expanding.”

Bar addressed both active-duty and reserve Air Force personnel. “I want to salute you for your courage, your daring and your determination to engage in both offense and steadfast defense. It can be assumed that Zamir was referring to special commando forces from elite units tasked with target designation and intelligence gathering in enemy territory, deployed covertly in Iran. These ground forces may also have conducted numerous deception and diversion operations to help the Air Force operate more freely.

This activity was in addition to operations by Mossad agents on Iranian soil, which were unusually disclosed after the opening strike of the campaign. In unprecedented footage released on the first day of the operation, a Mossad operational team was seen deploying precision strike systems intended to destroy Iranian air defense systems, followed by their destruction using precision missiles smuggled into the Islamic Republic in a covert operation by Israeli intelligence. The footage also showed missile and surface-to-surface launcher strikes carried out with explosive drones inserted by the Mossad in the Tehran area.

Iran’s cluster missiles scatter bombs and destruction across Israel

Iran has launched multiple ballistic missiles at Israel carrying cluster bomb warheads during the ongoing conflict, indiscriminately spreading small bombs in wide areas of the country.

The warhead of such missiles opens up while descending and scatters around 20 smaller munitions with around 2.5 kilograms (5.5 pounds) of explosives, in a radius of around 8 kilometers (5 miles), according to the Israel Defense Forces.

The munitions do not have their own propulsion or guidance and simply fall to the ground, where they are designed to explode on impact.

Israeli military officials said such a missile poses a threat to a much wider area than Iran’s other ballistic missile warheads, but the explosion from each of the cluster bombs is far smaller.

In contrast, Iran’s traditional ballistic missile warheads are packed with an estimated 500 kilograms of explosives, which can cause massive damage.

The IDF has confirmed that Iran launched ballistic missiles carrying cluster bomb warheads at Israel several times in the current conflict, as well as in June 2025’s war. The Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen also launched several missiles with cluster bomb warheads at Israel last year.

It remains unclear how many such missiles Iran has fired at Israel, as many of them have been intercepted by air defenses.

On Tuesday, submunitions from a cluster bomb warhead hit several locations in central Israel, wounding 12 people, medics said. The damage caused by the submunitions was equivalent to that of a small rocket.

Footage on Sunday also showed two dozen fragments streaking through the sky after a cluster bomb warhead opened and scattered bombs across central Israel.

Some of the submunitions do not explode upon hitting the ground, and they can still pose a danger to anyone who happens upon them.

The IDF Home Front Command has warned the public not to approach any missile remains they may find on the ground, which effectively act as landmines, and to alert authorities immediately if they spot one.

There have been no changes to the Home Front Command’s guidelines for civilians when it comes to cluster bomb attacks.

Human rights groups have long campaigned for cluster bombs to be banned due to the random, indiscriminate nature of the threat they pose, unlike other types of munitions that can be used to precisely target combatants or military assets while minimizing harm to civilians.

In total, 112 countries have signed a 2008 convention banning the production, storage, sale, and use of cluster munitions. Iran and Israel are not among them.

The text of the 2008 Convention on Cluster Munitions says cluster bombs “kill or maim civilians, including women and children, obstruct economic and social development… impede post-conflict rehabilitation and reconstruction (and) delay or prevent the return of refugees and internally displaced persons… for many years after use.”

IDF kills Quds Force commander for Lebanon in Tehran strike

The IDF said Tuesday that it killed the acting commander of the Lebanon Corps of Iran’s Quds Force in an airstrike in Tehran earlier in the day.

According to an IDF statement, the Israeli Air Force, acting on intelligence guidance, struck and killed Daoud Ali Zadeh, who had been serving as the temporary head of the unit responsible for Iran’s activities related to Lebanon.

Ali Zadeh replaced Hassan Mahdavi, the former commander of the Lebanon Corps, who was previously killed in an Israeli strike, the IDF said.

The Lebanon Corps serves as a key link between Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant group based in Lebanon. The IDF described Ali Zadeh as the most senior Iranian commander overseeing operations connected to Lebanon and said he held a rank equivalent to brigadier general.

In previous roles, Ali Zadeh served as commander of the Quds Force’s Strategic Weapons Corps, where, according to the IDF, he was involved in supporting the transfer of advanced weapons to Iran-backed groups in the region and advising them on enhancing their firepower capabilities.

The IDF said Ali Zadeh assumed leadership of the Lebanon Corps after Operation Northern Arrows and was involved in efforts to rehabilitate Hezbollah and improve its operational capabilities for future attacks targeting Israel. It added that he had recently encouraged Hezbollah to carry out attacks against Israel.

Israel will not allow Iranian elements that strengthen Hezbollah to entrench themselves in Lebanon, the IDF said.
The IDF added that it will continue to operate against Hezbollah’s attempts to rebuild and rearm and will act forcefully to eliminate any threat to Israel.
